  1. He sure is playing the point on the PP. In fact, he gets at least an equal amount of time at the point as Frattin. I find it strangely familiar to Jordan Schroeder and his sophomore "slump". Is it coincidence that they are really good friends...?
  2. Blu-ray players have become relatively inexpensive compared to what they've been. But, if you are willing to spend just a touch more money, I'd get a PlayStation 3 for a blu-ray player, even if I wouldn't game on it. They are actually one of the best blu-ray players on the market, and if you connect it to the internet, it will continue to remain updated through Sony's software updates. Beyond that, it also plays DVD's, CD's, data discs...it can be used as a mp3 player, internet browser, video player, picture viewer, all of which you can save directly to the console itself, so you never have to keep putting in the same discs over and over.
  3. It likely would have been reviewed upon the first stoppage of play. However, UND scored a legitimate goal before the first possible whistle, therefore there was no need to review. Either they counted Cichy's goal and the following goal would have been waved off, or vice versa. The refs weren't at fault for that one.
  4. Like DS said, it all depends on a couple factors: A) Is it being broadcast live in HD? B) Was it filmed in HD? (most local programming, older shows, and some smaller channels still film in standard definition...so even if you watch the program on a channel labeled as "HD", it will only be of SD quality) Also, on a side note (someone may have mentioned this already), but HDTV shows are only broadcast in 720p...not true HD which is 1080p. It's still better than SD, but not quite what your TV is capable of if you have a 1080p TV. A blu-ray movie is 1080p, so if you watch one of them, it should be higher quality than even HD television. Also, ScottM, it doesn't matter which plasma TV you buy when it comes to plasma and glare. They all have glass screens, meaning they also produce glare. I think the main difference in a premium brand vs. a lower brand is the quality of the bulb. A lot of TV's probably share all the same components internally, but the bulb difference is the main part. That difference being how long they typically last...or so I've read. A little research might be in order.
  5. What's funny is Chay Genoway plays defense for the Sioux like a typical B*ston C*llege forward. Fast and aggressive with a scoring mentality, but can still play defense. I don't know why people are so anti-Genoway forward. He hasn't played great defense this year, and his offensive numbers haven't been spectacular by any means. Why not give him a chance to go to town with the puck down low. He's great at finding open areas and getting shots off quick and accurate. Imagine these five guys on the ice at the same time: Knight centering Frattin and Genoway with Forbort and Blood on the blue line. That's a great combo of three scorers (who all do it in their own way, and can play defense), along with two defensemen who can move the puck and play pretty good defense. Everyone knows how good Chay can maneuver through opponents to get the puck up ice. However, he always ends up running out of space eventually, even if he beats a couple guys. Now, put him at a forward position. Picture Forbort making a good outlet pass, and then Chay only has a guy or two (which he does regularly anyways), and getting off a higher quality shot than we would have. Also, Chay can stay aggressive and his turnovers are less costly because there are always two guys (the defensemen) to back him up. We have the depth at defense to do it, so why not take Genoway and showcase his scoring abilities even more by getting him more opportunities with the puck. And yes, I know it will never happen, so you don't have to tell me.
  6. Must be a different Little Caesar's tourney then.
  7. Not sure where to look to see when the Little Caesar's Tourney in GF is, but I believe it's December 11 and 12...in which case you'll be able to watch Nick Schmaltz play for the Chicago Mission.
  8. Thanks. The Sammy Sioux logo is a favorite of mine, like I said. I actually created that logo in high-resolution from scratch. It took me FOREVER, but it turned out awesome in my opinion...hence the reason I had to find a way to use it. The process of making it wasn't difficult, other than the trickiness of getting it accurate, which came out as good as you can get it pretty much. I did modify the logo for the wallpaper and such, so that's not how it would typically look.
  9. To be fair to Standing Rock, the entire community was muted by a few individuals who had all the power to stop them. I strongly feel that if they had their voices heard, it'd be a similar story to Spirit Lake...hence the reason why they were never allowed to vote or be heard. The "leaders" knew what the outcome would have been.
  10. Here are the new ones for December: Widescreen with Game Dates: http://img715.imageshack.us/img715/4636/decwallpaper.jpg Widescreen without Game Dates: http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/7057/decwallpapernowp.jpg Standard Screen with Game Dates: http://img816.imageshack.us/img816/6365/decwpstdcal.jpg Standard Screen without Game Dates: http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/7575/decwpstdnocal.jpg I hope the change of pace by going vintage is ok. I love Sammy Sioux and wanted to get something with that in there.
  11. I really feel that the people as a whole should come up with a way to thank the many Native American members of both the Spirit Lake and Standing Rock reservations who came out and voiced their beliefs in regards to the support of the Sioux nickname. They did so much, even though it was ultimately a losing battle. The people who "won" the fight, know that the supporters were right all along, hence the stonewalling and ignorance portrayed on their part. I really want to thank these people so much, because the name means so much to me and many others...so, maybe there is a way we can all give them a warm round of applause, so-to-speak. Thank you supporters
  12. Just like the Gophers in recent years.
  13. Here's the vid: http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/99417
  14. A little sampler for later tonight...I call it a "Scrapbook Edition"
  15. Agreed. There are more issues with Plasma tv's than LCD's. You get dead pixels easier, they have burn-in, glare issues, heat issues, use more power, etc... The only nicer thing that USED to hold true about plasma's were their refresh rate, they had a deeper black, and you could make them a bigger size eaisier. However, LCD technologies have all but erased those issues for the most part when it comes to buying a new LCD. My next tv will be 3D, but I'm not jumping the gun. The technology will be coming out where you don't need glasses, even though it's probably a good 5-8 years away most likely. But, by then, 3D will also be so widespread that it might actually make sense to own one.
  16. It's pretty obvious when someone comes on the board with no post count, and tells you to check out something new and exciting like it's the next great thing. You'd have more credibility in my eyes if you didn't play the clueless card.
  17. That just sounds like a photograph, if you get my drift.
  18. Yuck...bad play.
  19. Dell is the player of the game so far. Three huge saves. NoDak is outshooting the Irish, so Johnson has more saves, but Dell has the quality stops.
  20. Sounds like you need a new computer.
  21. This is the logo used during FSSN. It kind of looked like our new interlocking ND because it visually shows the interlocking: This is how you typically see it:
  22. Now, I know the students are gone, but it's still a packed house (or at least very close to a sellout) and the arena sounds dead on my tv. 95% of the people there could pass as being in church opposed to a hockey game. Yuck... "Stand up and cheer, stand up and cheer for North Dakota..."
  23. Her husband didn't go to UND so he doesn't get my vote. I hate the Cowboys.
  24. Not yet, but I've been getting ideas. I should have one ready by the beginning of December. Is everyone liking doing the current players, or should I switch it up and do like a commemorative version in honor of a title team or something? The only hard part about doing an old team is that the pics are a lot smaller and lower resolution, making it tougher for larger wallpapers to like nice...unlike the ones I've been doing with current players.
  25. Judging by the amount of seating behind each goal, my guess is that Duluth will shoot towards the left side twice, unless they put the students behind there for more room to distract the opposing goalie. I can't really decide either way now that I think about it.
