  1. I think Kristo and Hextall should be swapped. Both are great players, but I think Kristo's skill set better matches the top line with Gregoire and Knight. Hextall, conversely, matches up better with Brock Nelson and Mario Lamoureux on the third line. The third line is a bit grittier, but can still score. Hextall is exceptional at scoring in dirty places and in open spaces after receiving the puck with after a great pass. Nelson could set up a lot of goals for Hextall and Brett can also match Mario's defensive mentality on that same line. I also wonder if part of Kristo's line placement is because of his off-season mishap...a minor punishment if you will. Not that the third line is bad, but Kristo is coming off an awesome rookie campaign with the accolades he raked in on his World Jr. run last year, so you'd think he'd be on a line with more playmakers like himself instead of one with a grinder (Mario Lamoureux) and a sniper (Brett Hextall).
  2. Drew Stafford and the Buffalo Sabres took on Toews and the Blackhawks tonight. I believe Toews and Stafford were linemates for a good portion of Toews' freshman year (don't quote me, might have to blow the dust off a couple dvd's), so it was a good matchup. Stafford won the stat sheet battle, but Toews and the Hawks won the war. Drew potted a goal and was 3rd star. Toews was scoreless but dominated facoffs winning 16 of 23. Stafford now has 2 goals and 3 assists through 6 games so far, so things are looking up for him this year it appears. Parise and Oshie also tallied assists in losses.
  3. Still hunting for decently priced Wisconsin tickets in the lower bowl. If anyone could point me in a decent direction, that'd be great. I know a guy pretty well (we'll call him Badger Bob), who knows a guy that has season tickets. "Badger Bob" is pretty convinced that he can get the Sioux/Badger tickets from the guy he knows, but I don't want to wait around in case it never happens.
  4. Already up 2-0 in the middle of the 1st against Mankato. EDIT: Now 2-1
  5. There are a lot of characteristics in the new BREC that remind me of the Ralph...at least from a small, grainy webcast view.
  6. Well, considering Maris didn't even get a minute of playing time against Manitoba, I think it's safe to say he won't play at all this year barring an injury. In Dell's case, he's played good enough when he's gotten the shot [on the road] to earn more starts, in my opinion. He can only get better and he's shown he can play.
  7. Makes sense. Moved out of Grand Forks last summer, so out of the loop with that stuff.
  8. St Cloud is playing #4 ranked Miami...a team that went to the past two Frozen Fours. With how highly St. Cloud is ranked as well, it's a worthy game to watch being that it's two programs near the top of their respective conferences. Why its on FSSN is beyond me, but it will be a good game to watch nonetheless.
  9. So other than acting like a big shot...what was your reasoning for even posting in this thread if you had no intentions to help out?
  10. Of course, but there is also plenty to go around.
  11. Drew Stafford tallied 1g and 1a in tonight's loss against Toews and the Blackhawks. Toews was held off the points sheet, but was a +3 for the night. Stafford now has 1g and 2a in 3 games...a point per game. Oshie also added 2 assists in a Blues win.

  13. OK, I'm freaking, where's my webcast...how do I get it running?! So confused...
  14. Anyone having any webcast luck yet?
  15. Liberals are WAY more racist by trying not to be racist than your average conservative could ever be. Liberals are always the ones bringing up race other than a small handful of neo-nazi nutjobs. The race card gets pulled all the time to counter any valid conservative point being made. Also, this is a forum about the Sioux nickname, not about racist conservatives.
  16. For sure not all liberals are against the nickname... ...however, most opponents of the nickname are liberals (if they aren't of Native American descent). You won't find many conservative thinkers against the nickname.
  17. http://www.theawl.com/2009/11/real-america-with-abe-sauer-red-skin-cheer Didn't read the whole thing as it's way too long for me, but noticed a couple regulars mentioned.
  18. So, I've been thinking. For years now, we've been a dump it, chase it, cycle it type offense, and look for opportunities from there. With our depth at forward AND defense, should Hak try implementing more of a run and gun style offense. It seems like every year we get matched up against an East coast school who we are convinced won't be able to matchup with our physical style of play in all three zones, only to lose to a run and gun offense while our offense sits stagnant. We have the skill to run and gun, and the defense to back up any potentital mistakes. I think grinding out all our goals may hinder our offense more than help it this year. However, if teams want to get physical, we are still big enough and strong enough to beat the other team at their own game, if they choose. Drop the puck.
  19. I noticed the WCHA tweaked their logo a bit by making the W in the logo a bit larger. I wonder if this is reflected on the uni's this year. www.wcha.com
  20. Well, if you base Cichy off what he did last year, than yeah it's surprising. However, Cichy was a pretty good looking recruit when he first committed, then seemed to get lost a bit in the speed and physicality of some better hockey leagues. He certainly wasn't terrible last year, but had the skill set. Now, he's a year bigger, faster, and more mature, and is up to the speed of college hockey. Hopefully that bodes well for Mr. Cichy, because if he can show flashes of brilliance, that's one more awesome weapon we have. I still have high hopes for him, and if we can get him in there to play some key roles, he just might wow us a bit. Some might call it wishful thinking that he could be a stud, and those people may be right. But, I'm not going to hold it against a former freshman entering only his sophomore year based on a seemingly lackluster rookie campaign. I think he can fit into a nice 3rd line scoring role that can play a bit of defense too.
  21. I certainly agree with trying to get Simpson playing time, I just don't think you can break up Marto and LaPoint to do it, even for a game. I think it's going to come down to rotating with Forbort, but with Forbort seeing the majority of the chances. You can't sit Mac, Genoway, Blood, Marto, or LaPoint really...and if Forbort continues to play like he did against Manitoba, how do you sit him either? Simpson, as good as he can (and probably will) be, he still did look like a young player trying to get up to speed with the college game. It will be nice if he can come through big when some guys get nicked up, but if everyone stays healthy, I don't see a ton of time for him.
  22. My baseball season ended in late May. Go Brewers
  23. I heard the birds are most easily killed when standing in oncoming traffic, especially if you are from the Twin Cities...
