  1. Omaha Lancers may be my newest favorite USHL team. They call us the Fighting Sioux on their website.

Didn't want to start a new thread....but... Hugh Thornton of the Illinois Illini added the forbidden chief logo to his helmet for the Senior Bowl. I'm very confused on how I feel about that. I think at first I didn't like it, because I know the NCAA won't do anything to an individual player who is no longer in the NCAA, but on the other hand, I love the support he is showing for their Native American logo that is now gone.
  3. I understand that a coach is upset after a loss, but man, Eaves seems like a total jerkoff to, who I imagine, are his own reporters.
  4. Great, I love that. But why do they need/deserve a nickname? Why can't they just be themselves and kick some tail?
  5. I'm confused, does a nickname mean they are better or something? How does one "deserve" a nickname?
  6. Nicknames just happen...they aren't forced.
  7. I'm not sure what I ate today, but I could humor you if you like.
  8. The Sabres can't be too thrilled with Drew Stafford's performance so far this year. No goals and just a few assists through 8 games so far.
  9. There's already two of those in the AHL...don't need another in the National. I'm still partial to Totems.
  10. This Totems sweater is another great look, though I wouldn't necessarily approve on that striping or colors to return again...blue/red is very overdone these days and the striping reminds me of the Canadiens too much.
  11. Yep, Thunderbirds won't work.
  12. You bring the 'diques back and the fans will go.
  13. Gothberg with the start in net tonight again. I like it.
  14. Well, if you count the entire team, yeah, 2005-06 was loaded. Don't forget that Duncan was in that class too.
  15. The only other year I can think of would be the 1977-78 class with guys like Smail, Chorney, Christian, and probably another two good 'uns I'm forgetting. There were some great players that joined the program in the late 70s, spread out over a few years. The individual accomplishments of that 05-06 class are tremendous, but does a lack of title diminish that?
  16. Yep, and they had some shnazzy sweaters to boot. If Seattle is the move, I hope they bring the Totems name back.
  17. Seattle population that LOVES hockey: 2,472 Quebec City population that LOVES hockey: 516,621
  18. I agree with PP time, but you can't split him and Kadri up.
  19. I'd say you're correct in your assessment on how often it was worn. However, though I had it listed as a 2006-07 jersey, pretty much the same jersey was also worn 2007-08 and 2008-09. It saw its fair share of games.
  20. Sent ya a PM.
  21. The fans have spoken, and we now have determined what will go down as the Greatest Sioux Jersey Ever. Thousands of votes were cast throughout the rounds, and thanks to all of you who came to check out the site and take the time to vote. It's clear the majority of fans have an affinity for the black sweaters, as the only two in the entire 16 jersey tournament met in the finals. The Nike Swift won by a narrow margin. I echo some of the sentiments of others, as I definitely preferred a few of the older style jerseys, but I only get one vote like everyone else. Thanks again. I've been slowly moving forward with adding the different ice designs the Sioux have played on over the years, which can be found under the respective jersey pages in the Encyclopedia. Some of the ice sheets will include those for home games, Final Fives, NCAA Regionals, and Frozen Fours...or whatever else may pop up that's interesting. Also, I plan on doing some refinements on some of the sweaters already posted. After hours and hours of work to create them, the mind gets a bet bogged down at times and some mistakes are bound to happen (most are extremely minor and I'm probably the only one that notices them). Also, if you own any game-worn Sioux jerseys, I'd love to be able to host your jerseys on the "Collections" page, all credit going to you.
  22. I wonder if that isn't an NHL rule...every NHL team places the red line over the top of the center ice logo. I agree though, it's a better look the way UND does it.
  23. Personally, and I bet it's the case for a lot of people, it's either going to Omaha or going to the Final Five. I chose the Final Five.
  24. One other interesting thing to note... When the new logos were reavealed a few years ago, they showed all our new wordmarks with the interlocking ND in the "O" of the word "North", as shown in the pic below. Interestingly, it seems UND has moved away from that in many of their designs, which is a good thing IMO. Bottom row, first and third ones in. The only usage they've shown without that look is in conjunction with the interlocking logo as the primary. The style guide is much more in-depth, but follows the same rules.
