  1. I may whip something up just for fun, but the flame logo is an academic logo. As good or bad (whatever you may feel) as our current athletic logo set is, they are still ours
  2. I've been meaning to digitally recreate this "logo" before showing it off, but since we are on the subject... I think this is one of the coolest UND logos I've seen. It's from an early 1900s UND baseball team.
  3. Here's another photo example, this time of the Islanders. I would think having two different colors (blue/orange) would make it even harder to see, if it was an issue. It's a great question, though. I wonder if there are any NHL guidelines when it comes to designs...or even in the NCAA/WCHA.
  4. There are a lot of pro teams that use pretty much the entire center circle with color, whether it be a logo, or filler. Being that it's a uniform color, and isn't on the dark end of things, I don't see why it would be any worse than teams like the Blackhawks, Sabres, Islanders, etc. A few teams use quite a bit of black even. EDIT: Ray77 beat me to the punch there with a great pic.
  5. EDIT: Got beat to the punch...
  6. Frattin with a pair of goals, including the OT game winner.
  7. Changing the subject a bit... The ice design for this year seems a bit bland, (I suppose it's fitting with the blandness of everything else non-Sioux nowadays). But, I decided to come up with a concept that, in my opinion, is much better. Our kelly green is almost as unique as was the Sioux nickname. So few schools and pro teams use the color. So, I wanted to add more "green" to the look. So, instead of adding a green interlocking ND, I decided to make the circle green instead of the logo. The other obvious change is the ND itself. I actually don't mind the use of "North Dakota", but it doesn't fill the space at center ice like it should, and just doesn't look as professional. My only concern is if someone happened to tune into a game on FCS and saw the ND, they'd be confused with Notre Dame. I think the revised ND logo better differentiates us from theirs, and it fills center ice pretty nicely. One other subtle change was, instead of white squares in the center red line, I changed them to diamonds. For comparison sake, I put our current design on the left, the concept on the right:
  8. Closest regional this year is in Grand Rapids, MI. Hardly even close to WCHA territory. That's the "West" Regional. Midwest regional is in Toledo, OH. How does this work in the eyes of the NCAA? Just gross. I know schools/locations have to bid these things, and they usually aren't much of a money maker, if at all, but wow.
  9. Thanks for the heads up. I'm a DirecTV user and was pretty disappointed.
  10. St Clair Gaarder
  11. Fire Anastos. Fire Berenson.
  12. Michigan, tied for 9th in an 11 team conference, has more draft picks on it's roster than the top three teams combined.
  13. Since 1998, BC has played in 8 National Championship games, winning four. Eight title game appearances in 15 years is pretty darn impressive.
  14. Michael Forney scored one of the three Colorado Eagles goals in the ECHL All-Star game yesterday. The ECHL All-Stars won 7-3.
  15. Bud Light...for those who want beer, but don't like the taste of beer.
  16. I really liked Frank Mazzocco and Doug Woog. They really brought energy to big games that didn't seem forced like with Doug McLeod. Yeah, Frank and Woog were big time homers, but that's to be expected, and I actually enjoyed listening to it at times.
  17. I can see them pulling it off just to make us all angry.
  18. I think we get 6 of 8 pts the next couple weekends which will set us up quite nicely down the stretch. I really feel like this team is about to breakout. One thing Hak's teams tend to do is play tight, until the stretch run of conference play. Then they tighten up again in the playoffs. If they play loose, fast, and smart, I think they can beat just about anyone.
  19. The Championship vote is now live! It's the Battle of the Business Suits. What are your thoughts on this? Here's a look at how the bracket has played out. Which matchups had the biggest upsets?
  20. It's not looking like it, but I wonder what else that tweet may have meant.
  21. Ha, yeah, I'm busted I guess. I did see it on FSN, and you are correct now that I look. Darn you FSN!
  22. It is pretty interesting how it's shaken out so far. The good news is, a Sioux jersey wins no matter what. I am partial to some of the older sweaters as well and would have liked to have seen a couple greens in the mix, particularly the 1964-67 style. The 1986-87 white vs the 2006-07 swift are only separated by 12 votes. Voting ends Tuesday night at midnight, so get your votes in!
  23. What I thought was interesting, and mentioned it right away on Saturday night before it got buried in the game thread, was both Wilcox and Gothberg had .927 save percentages going into the game. That being said, Wilcox is getting rave reviews while people weren't too pysched about Zane going into the weekend. The GAA for both was quite different in favor of Wilcox, which just goes to show that our defense isn't at the same level as Minnesota's. Yeah, Wilcox has seen a lot more action, but if Gothberg had seen more play to this point, who knows how his development would have continued throughout the course of the year. Zane has some pretty nice accomplishments as an incoming goalie and I wouldn't mind seeing him a lot more down the stretch. I do still have confidence in Clarke. There's a lot of season left and he's done some good things so far. I'm not going to grade his entire year on a couple off weekends.
  24. Tech is a team I wouldn't want to play either. Their record is what it is, but Pearson seems to get the most out of them in big games.
