  1. Not exactly, as neither are in the PWR because their RPI's aren't high enough...but yes, Penn State's RPI is higher than Duluth's.
  2. Dump and chase has worked because we usually have some big/physical guys. Dump it in, go nail the opponent to the boards, take the puck. Rinse, repeat. By the 3rd period, those other guys are so sick of getting hit, it opens things up. This year, the guys aren't as big or physical, so it hasn't as worked as much, but if you've noticed, we have really cycled well lately.
  3. I'm on my phone so I'll keep this short until later, but Chay has been to three Frozen Fours.
  4. Fri: Zane Sat: Clarke
  5. Yeah, but the problem is, you said leadership is what put him on the list. What made him such a better leader than any other Captain the Sioux have had? In my opinion, he was a good, not great player. That's all fine and dandy that you mention, and I quote: "Greg Johnson, Toews, Duncan, Parise, Frattin, Ward......" ....but where did I mention those as players that should be on the roster? Just to save you some time, I didn't mention those players, so why are you bringing them up? I'm not saying that Genoway was a bad player, but if you think he's one of the six best defensemen to ever wear a Sioux sweater, I think you are pretty ignorant on the history of the Fighting Sioux. How can Genoway compare to Bill Steenson's three All-American awards, an NCAA All-Tournament team selection, and Captain of a National Championship winning team?
  6. Sorry, I thought a date had been decided based on the polls, but I have been mistaken. Carry on!
  7. So is it on Friday or Saturday?
  8. I agree. I really think the pros of this changing landscape outweigh the cons in this situation. I don't think anyone is gaining a distinct advantage over anyone. Yeah, it hurts to lose games against Minnesota and Wisconsin, but our program is so much more than just playing those teams. With smaller conferences, it will give room to other teams who may want to get in on the action. With the conferences becoming as inflated as they were, there wasn't much room for more teams to join. I'm not implying that any new additions to college hockey are imminent, but if a school does start weighing its options, it is much more appealing to know that someone will have a place for you. I think the future WCHA schools will find it beneficial to have greater opportunity to make the tournament. If some of the more prominent schools do their part and continue to schedule those schools, I think it will be a win-win. UND is already doing its part in scheduling Bemidji and Northern Michigan next year in some non-conference action.
  9. No offense, but what did Chay lead us to? Chay has no place on an all-time roster. Good player and good leader but we've been fortunate to have A LOT of good players and good leaders through the years. Steenson was a 3-time first team All-American and captain of a National Championship team...not even a mention. This list should be reserved for the GREAT players. Sorry, but Chay is good, not great.
  10. Yeah, there are definitely some fun teams coming. Just because they aren't the premier names in college hockey doesn't mean there aren't any fun weekends to look forward to. Miami is going to become one of our more fun rivals on the ice, as they play a very similar style to us...fast and physical with a bunch of skill. I wouldn't mind seeing Vermont in here as well as Northern Michigan (our 1980 title game opponent).
  11. Paul Kariya may argue that one... I could watch that all day...incredible skill level.
  12. I have to imagine they'd release the new conference logos and a finalized website pretty soon. Maybe it's along those lines. I can't think of any big announcements that would make sense as of right now.
  13. Multiple successful Frozen Fours...in particular, 1997.
  14. There'd be no Ralph if there wasn't a Purpur.
  15. How about: Don Ross Bill Reichart Gordon Christian Bill Steenson Ben Cherski John Noah Just to name a few.
  16. My only issue is the program started in the 1940s, not 1980. We had a number of great players in the earlier generations. EDIT: You beat me to the punch on the pre-1980 comment.
  17. I think the Wisconsin ones are pretty sharp. The worst of the bunch is Notre Dame's. Typically, I like diagonal wordmarks and classic striping like on that ND jersey, but the problem I have with it is it doesn't really have a Notre Dame feel to it at all. It feels more like a High School type look and I really don't care for the white shoulder yokes. I'm impartial to the Miami/Minnesota ones.
  18. Be careful what you wish for.
  19. Another one of you people?
  20. If those numbers are even remotely true, why haven't the Cornhuskers put together a program yet? There's obviously a strong hockey fan base in town who are already in love with Nebraska the way it is.
  21. What do I mean? I mean we pretty much completely agree. You just put it more bluntly.
  22. I'm no expert on the Wild, but adding two players (even the caliber of Parise and Suter) is only going to do so much. To me it seems as if there's a bit lack of depth on the team, which won't get you too far. If they build off of this season going forward, they could be a force. Expecting big things this year, with or without a training camp, was asking a little too much in my opinion.
  23. Video highlights of the goals on UNO's website. Pretty decent quality. http://www.omavs.com/index.aspx?tab=icehockey&path=mhockey
