I feel bad for Jake. While I do think he made a mistake by coming too far out of the net on the shorthanded goal, putting the loss squarely on him isn't fair. It's a team game and it was a team loss.

The 2000-2001 Sioux were 18-4-6 in the WCHA and 29-8-9 overall.

Do you expect that D-IAA NDSU will have the same proportion of North Dakota players on its roster as DII NDSU?
-
And because they'd pay with Canadian dollars, it would cut the deficit by approximately 50 cents.
-
From the Feb. 28, 2002, Dakota Student: I'd like to know what's so wrong about this statement. It seems like common sense to me. If you can win at the D-IAA level with the same athletes you're currently recruiting, what's the point of moving up?

When did Kupchella say this? I don't know for a fact that he didn't, but I have no recollection that he did. Can you cite a source?

Blais said there were "about five guys" who weren't playing up to their potential since the Golden Boys returned. I'm guessing that Genoway is one of them. Also consider the fact that David Lundbohm has been playing much better, as described in this story by Virg Foss in today's GF Herald. What's it say about the depth of this team when a center of Genoway's ability is on the fourth line?
-
For the past month or two, they haven't been talking about recruits unless a caller mentions one. Even then, Blais says nothing and Hennessy provides only general information.
-
My guess for the 4th line would be Genoway, Hale and Massen or Canady.

Live from Joe DiMaggio's Restaurant in beautiful downtown Grand Forks. Tim Hennessy and Scott Swygman are the hosts with Coach Dean Blais. Tim says that some people think the Sioux are slumping because they tied Denver on Saturday. Part of it is because some players are in a funk individually. Blais said it

You'd think that after hearing this 15 or 20 times, it wouldn't be funny any more. But, dang, it just gets funnier every single time you say it.

It's interesting that on MidcoNet's Web site, I can find nothing stating what their download speed is for residential service. Using the speed tests on dslreports.com, MidcoNet download speed at home is usually between 1,000 kbps and 3,000 kbps. I had Qwest DSL service for over a year. While DSL has some advantages over cable modem service, the main reasons I switched to MidcoNet were because of the cost (twice as expensive) and poor tech support. I've been quite happy with MidcoNet since making the switch.

Oops. I noticed in the post above, I had the wrong link to the Bismarck Tribune story on Ken Hendrickson's funeral. This one works. Here's the Tribune's article about Keith Smette's funeral on Tuesday. If you want a good example of a politician shamelessly exploiting the death of an American soldier in combat, check out Sen. Tom Daschle's Web site.
-
KX4 did a nice story on Keith Smette's funeral and you could hear American Soldier playing in the background. The most touching part was how moved the Guardsmen were. It was the same at Ken's funeral, as noted in the Tribune story.
-
The Bismarck Tribune ran an article about Ken Hendrickson's funeral on Monday. Gov. John Hoeven delivered the eulogy. Unfortunately, the Tribune article failed to mention that Ken was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit, the highest decoration given for service in the North Dakota National Guard.

Part of Kupchella's job is to make sure that UND projects a good public image. Perhaps some here don't think that's important, but it is. Anyone who wants the best recruits to come to UND for athletics should also be concerned about the school's image. And if you favor retaining the Fighting Sioux nickname, you should do all you can to avoid giving the PC crowd more ammunition to use against UND.

I seem to recall that Baker didn't resign until after Ralph announced his gift. I liked Kendall Baker, but if you think his biggest mistake was getting on the wrong side of Ralph, then you either have a selective memory or don't know very about the situation.

Blais said after the game Saturday that he expects Brandt to start at Wisconsin because he has more experience in that type of hostile environment. Did you know that in his last four starts, Jordan Parise has given up just four goals and has a .965 save percentage? That could have something to do with why Brandt's not playing.

Ken Hendrickson's funeral is 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bismarck. I'll be heading to Bismarck on Sunday to attend.

The Badgers scored their second goal with about 6 seconds left in the game. So, no, it wasn't closer than the score indicates.
-
Actually, on paper, UND's fourth line was Prpich-McMahon-Hale. But that's what's so great about this team. There's not a huge amount of difference between lines 2-4, so it doesn't really matter where someone plays. Lundbohm seems to have it going now. If Massen can start contributing, too, there's almost no stopping the Sioux.

Shameless plug: USCHO recap of tonight's game.
