  1. Thanks, Mapletoft.
  2. On the other hand, I recall the Sioux getting called for penalties on breakaways when no penalty was deserved.
  3. Murray scores on a one-timer off a Parise pass. 1-0 Sioux! Fans are mad because Genoway wasn't called for a trip when Badgers had a breakaway for a shorthanded attempt.
  4. Sioux go on the power play at 3:06. Hennessy says there was no explanation given for why Parise's goal was called off at the end of the period.
  5. Second period is under way. Sioux are picking up where they left off, but nothing to show for it.
  6. At the time I saw it, I thought it was a bad call. But others on USCHO who saw it said it was a good call. I guess the Sioux players didn't protest it at all.
  7. Hey, Bruce McLeod wants parity. The Badgers have to finish higher in the league.
  8. Schmidt giveth and Schmidt taketh away.
  9. Crap. They're not going to count it!
  10. Parise scores on the rebound!
  11. Murray stoned on a breakway. What a hit by Bina!
  12. Yeah, I'm thinking of just using the streaming video to watch the highlights when they happen. It's too confusing to try to watch the video and listen to the radio at the same time.
  13. Badgers go back on the power play for the second time in a row.
  14. Sounds like it's open season on J. Parise.
  15. More rebuffering. At least it's free.
  16. Works for me. I wonder why DataFlix never does?
  17. The link says it won't start until 7 p.m. I'm hoping that it goes active then.
  18. Blais says in the pre-game show that the Money Line will be back together -- Parise, Bochenski and Murray. Jordan Parise will start tonight. Ryan Hale will be out and Lee Marvin will take his place. Blais thinks it will help in clearing the puck by having a left-hand shot on the left wing. Blais said that losing tonight "is not an option." He told the players that if they lose tonight, don't bother coming home. Then he laughed.
  19. It's called "upgrading your image."

    Goalie Meltdown

I didn't miss it, but he didn't seem to be very visible in the second and third periods when you'd think that he'd be more of a factor. And I don't mean to single Bochenski out, but I kept waiting for someone -- anyone -- to step up and make a play that would put the Badgers away or re-energize the Sioux. Nobody did.
  21. Every team in the WCHA has the ability to beat any other team on a given night. Nobody should take any team in the league for granted, and I think that's what the Sioux did Friday when they jumped out to a quick lead. Let's hope they don't make that mistake again for the remainder of the season.

I had the same feeling and hunch.

    Because it's Wisconsin.

    Goalie Meltdown

I'm not saying that Brandt doesn't deserve to be criticized because he does. I just don't think it's fair to single him out as the reason the Sioux lost.

    Goalie Meltdown

Let's look at a few facts. On the goal that cost the Sioux the game, Smaby made the mistake of playing the puck and not the man. There was absolutely no backchecking on the play. I saw the forwards coast to the blue line and watch. Nobody hustled to get back except Parise when he saw Smaby get beat. But it was too late. Don't forget that the turnover on the shorthanded goal was casued by sloppy play that led to a bad turnover. Yes, Jake made a mistake by coming out too far, but he never should have had to make that stop to begin with. There were also times in the game where Sioux players were closest to the puck, but just stood by and let a Badger player pick it up. After the first period, the entire team played without heart. And what happened to "Man Against the Boys/Leading Hobey Candidate" Bochenski? He was invisible through most of the game. For that matter, what about coaching? Blais has said that it's the coaches job to know when to make adjustments and changes at the right time in a game. If Brandt's mistake was so horrible and Blais knew he wasn't the same after giving up the shorthanded goal, why not replace him? At least David Lundbohm had the guts to admit the cause of the problem in the Herald's story: From the coaches on down, there's enough blame to spread around for everyone.
