  1. Actually, the official public statement from the Douple and the Summit was "resolved". But according to an interview this spring with a ND state official. "Resolved" was clarified to meaning "Changed". So, the Summit did not make it official that they wanted a name change. But, officials had a very clear understanding of what the Summit League wanted. Thus, the Summit League does not rate very high with me. If a conference can not be open about it wishes, it speaks volumes and the leadership and why would you want to join? Not a good why to start a relationship.

    2010 Season

What are the five games? Sept. 2 - UND at Idaho Sept. 25 - Northwestern State at UND Oct. 9 - Southern Utah at UND Nov. 6 - UC Davis at UND Nov. 13 - UND at Montana ****** I would think that Midco would be working with both USD and SDSU games as regional broadcasts. So, I think that 7 games might be possible.
  3. Tickets to see the last football game as "The Fighting Sioux" go on sale Sunday. http://rapidcityjournal.com/sports/article...1cc4c03286.html

    Sioux on TV

Earlier this spring I was in Watertown SD at a birthday party. I was getting to know several of the college age kids and as expected several of them attend SDSU. We talked Jacks sports until they found out I went to UND. After that, all they talked about was Sioux hockey. What is the Ralph like? is it as fun as it looks on TV? They talked about how a group on his floor are planning a road trip to Grand Forks next year and how they would drive from Brookings to Watertown to watch the games if it was a big series... Just an example of the impact this has for UND, USD and SDSU. Hopefully NDSU will join in the future..

    Sioux on TV

I believe that Mediacom is the cable provider for Brookings. So, you might want to check that to validate your theory Mr. Hammer. In addition, the city-owned telephone company, Swiftel, operates as a Sprint PCS affiliate, providing mobile telephone service to much of the Interstate 29 corridor, running from the Iowa/Nebraska border, north to Watertown. Cable TV is not provided by the city, however. The franchise holder is Mediacom. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brookings,_South_Dakota [music] Two of these things is not like the others. [/music]
  6. I agree that UND would continue with FSSN. But, I don't think this is holding up UND and the Summit. I think the Summit League would welcome the additional exposure. Plus, I noted several Oakland and UMKC games this year on FCS. So, the Summit would have the following schools with some level of national cable broadcasts: - Oral Roberts - UND - Oakland - UMKC The UND/Summit problem was all about the nickname and making sure that it was changed ---- opps I mean resolved.. darnit..
  7. I was reading a white paper titled "Rationale for the University of Wyoming To Remain Division I-A (FBS)" http://uwadmnweb.uwyo.edu/accreditation/Re...1A_response.pdf and in Appendix B - Comparison of I-A MWC Television Appearances and UW Television Appearances
  8. Somewhat related to this discussion is the topic of Big Ten Hockey. I believe that the Big Ten has a by-law that requires conference play if 6 schools participate in a sport. So, Wis/Min/MSU/Mich/OSU would leave the CCHA and WCHA for the Big Ten. I am not sure if all schools support this action. But, it is very similiar to the Summit League football discussion.
  9. BSC: EWU, Mont, MSU, Weber, NAZ, NoColo, ISU Great West: Poly, Davis, SUU, UND, USD MVC: SDSU, NDSU If BSC offered full membership to SUU, SDSU, NDSU, UND and USD you would have 12 and 14 with Poly and Davis football only. I am not sure if Poly and Davis would move to full membership with BSC if offered. I am not sure if xDSU would be interested either? But, something like this: BSC East Mont MSU UND NDSU USD SDSU UNC West EWU Weber NAZ ISU Poly Davis SUU

    2010 Season

Stang: Tough schedule to start the season. Texas St/McNeese St - split Fresno St - L Old Dominion - W SUU - L You would have to be thrilled with 3 wins and be happy with 2 wins to start the season.
  11. Your kidding me right... I love ND$U's commitment to money, I mean excellence. Think about it - you have ND$U ie Gene n Chappy, Credit Card Industry ie Denny n First Premier Bank and the nonprofit Health Insurance industry Krabbenhoft n Paulsen all in bed together. You can't make it up!!! Hey Chuckles - what do you call - Chappy, Denny and John Q. in a line-up? Guilty - thank you I will be here on Monday Nights through the end of the month.
  12. I was thinking the new ND$U President's House with bonus room on the side.

    Spring Game

I was trying to stream the game on Siouxtra and it would not link.. anyone able to stream the game?
  14. QB - J. Landry*, B. Goska Comments: Returning starting with Landry. I liked how he played last year. He showed some good leadership. But, he does need to work on getting comfortable with his reads. At times it seemed that he locked on to one reciever too long. In addition, I was expecting more vertical plays last year with his arm strength. But, I can only remember three or four long plays over 40/50 yards last year. I think that Goska provides a solid change of pace of off the bench with his run first style. WR - C. Anderson (15 receptions), J. Davis (4 receptions) /B. Townsend WR - R. Dressler (20 receptions), G. Hardin/C. Roach *I. Bamba - who knows? Comments: Bamba (51 receptions)/Konrath (39 receptions) had 90 receptions. The three other know receivers had a total of 39. At this point I assume that Bamba is out of the equation. So, the Sioux will need C. Anderson and R. Dressler to step up this year. This position is going to be fun to watch this spring. In addition, two or three freshman will be in the mix with Townsend, Hardin and Roach. I think the coaches will move Davis to WR. I have no idea who is going emerge from this group. But, one the keys this spring is developing a chemistry between this group and J. Landry RB - M. Sutton, C. Solum FB - E. Magstdt - (out for the season) * J. Murry - who knows? and M. Binns - possible transfer according to others on-line - I am really sad to see this I was really looking forward to watching him play. Comments: Most people have been brushing off the loss of Magstdt but he was listed as the starting FB at the end of the season last year. You combine that with the shortage at TE and this could have a big impact on the offense and type of formations that they can run. I think we may see more 3/4 WR sets. But, who is going to play WR? If we have Murry back than I am happy at the RB position. Without him we are lacking depth at running back and we could see a true freshman playing at RB. Overall, the Sioux have lots of questions at the skill positions this year. It is important that they have a good spring and the young kids progress quickly.
  15. LT - C. McKendry@, J. Kleason LG - K. Queoff*, B. Quesenberry C - I. McGurran*, ?? RG - E. Lynch, C. Nelson RT - C. Schroyer*, C. Gillson TE - S. Wisthoff, ?? Comments: Three returning starters and I believe that McKendry did have a start last year at RT. I have him starting LT this year. So, they do have some returning starters this year. The primary battle will be at right guard and depth across the board. I am not sure how McGurran graded out last year. But, what a find.. RFr. started the entire year. It would be nice to see Lynch lock-up the RG position. The big question on the offensive line is depth at C and TE. I have no idea.. What do you think?
  16. Thanks for your honest answer, one other question - due you believe that both schools should be working within a system that tries to provides maximum benefit to the State of North Dakota?
  17. WBM - The scary part is the absolute denial by many about what has taken place. Even your comment about Chapman limits his misconduct to financial matters. To me, it goes far beyond his financial mismanagement. I am talking abuse of power and signs of it were all over the media and many choose to ignore them. Here is a link to a news article from 2006. http://www.bismarcktribune.com/news/local/...aa9191e3fc.html When I read this article, I see parents (Hoeven and Paulsen) enabling (Chapman) bad behavior.. Chapman is gone.. unfortunately the enablers are still around. Nobody is talking about the roles for Hoeven and Paulsen in all of this. Gov. John Hoeven became involved, meeting with board members John Q. Paulsen and Richie Smith in Fargo in late February to discuss Potts' job performance as the top administrator of North Dakota's university system. ....... On Feb. 28, Hoeven, Paulsen and Smith met in Fargo to discuss Potts' performance as chancellor and the possibility that Chapman might leave NDSU. At the time, he was a finalist for the presidency of the University of Wyoming. He subsequently withdrew from consideration. "According to Mr. Paulsen, the governor did not want NDSU to lose a good president, and had concerns about the leadership style of Chancellor Potts," the opinion says. "After the meeting, Mr. Paulsen and Mr. Smith held further conversations about whether Chancellor Potts was a good fit for the university system." Hoeven had also expressed dissatisfaction with Potts during casual conversations with other board members, the opinion says. The opinion does not detail why Hoeven was unhappy. The governor was not immediately available for comment Friday. Chapman was widely believed to have asked for a higher salary, renovations to the NDSU president's home and Potts' dismissal as conditions for remaining at NDSU, Stenehjem's opinion says.
  18. I absolutely agree: regional cable, Fox Sports, print and the radio network - plus the additional in house internet coverage. If you look around at peer schools they do not come close They have done great job and they will resolve the Fargo market soon.
  19. Please read the following... it appears that NDSU did push for KFGO to dump UND - no paranoia just other delusional Bison fan - I think I see black helicopters on the horizon..
  20. I think that it would be great if you had the standings for all sioux sports on the front cover some how.. but a great west score board.
  21. I have noticed the changed on Fighting Sioux site. I think they have done a very nice job. Unable media coverage on that site now. Money well spent.. thanks for your feedback.
  22. I hope that you are not basing your opinion of a university and alum on nonaffiliated message board posts. If that is the case, Bisonville would send NDSU back to indy status or the Oral Roberts message board recently discussing its road trip up north with less than appropriate language would make them an indy also. I think you see my point.. message boards have lots of noise and when you are dealing with a PC topic and a group that has stated by any and all means possible .. .. it gets a little messy at time. I must say I do like fourwindsboy though.. he is the most entertaining of the group. He has not been around much since the real reason for the naming change was exposed... it was classic. I can see why they don't want UND's baggage. I mean - Summit League volleyball games with players leaving the court crying because of the fans/baseball players actions in the stands or fights in bathrooms between two schools basketball players during conference tournaments because of racial slurs. I am just saying that people need to keep things in perspective. We do not live in a perfect society and sometimes we all lose our way. But with the help of those around us most of us seem to figure it out. We all have our flaws. I am sure that UND would have set earlier timelines in the settlement with the NCAA if they would have known about Summit League interest. As, I am sure that UND did note that the Summit was not interested in either NDSU or SDSU until the end of the transitional period. So, I do believe that UND did feel safe that a date two years prior to the end of transition should not interfere with any potential conference opportunities. But, it turns out that this was not a safe assumption. We would be in the same spot we are today. In my opinion "As a UND Alum", this has little to do with hockey or hockey fans. But, I am sure that is not the opinion that you wanted to hear.
  23. I have no idea who either of you are and I think you are making a big jump with lots of assumptions about the care this person already provides. All I have to say to this is - WOW...
