  1. I am looking forward to playing all conference teams. I think that it will be a great conference. I just have very limited respect for the SCSU adminstration and think that the school should walk the walk - can not stand playing UND - don't put UND on the schedule. NOTE: I live in the Twin Cities and I have travelled to SCSU for several games just not a fan. Our group has a lot more fun at Mankato games.
  2. Dave: I know that you have a man crush on SCSU, but I can not stand SCSU and sooooo wanted them left behind in WCHA. Most of it is based on the fact that SCSU admins have gone to great lengths to horass UND fans trying to attend games and fabricated statements about how horrible it is to play the UND. I say fine, don't schedule UND - please. So for me less games against SCSU the better.

I believe that the Champions Club set a record for donations this year. I am sure that some people stopped but thousands... I believe the Champsions Club has approximately 2,500 members..
  4. Yes, congrats looking forward to next year.
  5. It looks like ORU was one of the last four out of the tournament. They had a very nice team. Best of luck to ORU as they move to the Southland. What a winter season for the UND: W-Basketball - GW Champ and postseason bid M-Basketball - GW Champ and postseason bid M-Hockey - WCHA 5 final five trip and pending NCAA bid W-Hockey - First NCAA bid in program history and hometown canidate for Patty Kazmaier Award for best female collegiate hockey player.
  6. I do not understand why they had the tournament at a location that did not have a team eligible to play. Plus the schedule of women games in the evening and mens during the day seemed strange.
  7. Great job for the mens team.... getting ready for the Big Sky
  8. I wish this game was on FCS or SiouxInsider (Why is the womens game on SiouxInsider and not the mens?) because NJIT and UND have had a bit of a history when playing each other. I think Jones had to be pulled backed a couple of years ago in a game against NJIT. So, this could be an interesting game.
  9. I not worried by SU students - I am worried by SU alums
  10. I still have two tickets left
  11. I have several upper level tickets for Saturday against Mankota - face value plus handling charges.
  12. I will have to look for the information... I believe it is noted in the UND lawsuit against the NCAA or in the SL lawsuit against the NCAA. I will take a look and give you a link when I find it.
  13. Actually the interesting note about CMU is that State of Michigan passed a resolution against NA usage in the mid 90s. I believe the E. Michigan changed its name from the Huron and CMU has not. Here is a link to the state resolution and a chapter out of a book talking about the issues surrounding CMU. State Resolution http://www.michigan.gov/documents/mascots_69612_7.res.pdf Interesting Reading. http://books.google.com/books?id=0TG2s-lIldYC&pg=PA64&source=gbs_toc_r&cad=4#v=onepage&q&f=false I find it interesting that the NCAA gave approval despite this information.
  14. Hey thanks for the Aug 5th date, I took my date from the news article discussing the policy. I understand your comment about not being directly against, but the NCAA has been very strict with UND on getting approval - I believe they rejected approval letters from SL. Another aspect of the Oklahoma tribes backing off "could" be related to record revenue at the Florida casinos - $2 billion and growing. http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/the-buzz-florida-politics/content/report-says-seminole-tribe-casinos-are-cashing-despite-economy
  15. According to this article in the USA Today ( http://www.usatoday....-approved_x.htm ) The NCAA granted namesake exemption without formal approval from the Oklahoma Seminole tribe. Based on everything that I have seen, the Oklahoma Seminole tribe has never approved the use of the name. "But dissent has been voiced within the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, primarily by general council member David Narcomey, but the council has taken no official position on the FSU issue, according to Jennifer McBee, the tribe attorney general. Narcomey, saying he was voicing his opinion only, wrote in an e-mail to USA TODAY of the decision: "I am deeply appalled, incredulously disappointed ... I am nauseated that the NCAA is allowing this 'minstrel show' to carry on this form of racism in the 21st century." The amazing part of all this is that the NCAA issued the policy on Aug 12th 2005 and by Aug 23rd 2005 the NCAA had changed the policy to allow namesake exemptions and completed a review and approved a school to use this exemption in one in 8 business days.
  16. http://www.e-referencedesk.com/resources/state-name/iowa.html The nickname, Hawkeye State, was adopted early in the state's history. First suggested by James G. Edwars as a tribute to Indian leader Chief Black Hawk. Two Iowa promoters from Burlington are believed to have popularized the name.

    Enrollment

I thought NDSU was the school you learned how to rip off Best Buy - thats what I heard. See how simple labels are to apply.
  18. Do you think Minnesota can carry the Big10 at the Excel? SCSU, Duluth, UNO and UND bring a lot more fans to the Excel than Wisconsin. Plus, if Minnesota drops out early you have no back-up fan base to carry the Excel. Gophs go out early - the Excel will be a empty. The National has SCSU, Duluth, UND and UNO. It has four regional teams to help carry the attendance.
  19. Now that the 2012 recruiting season is over I thought that it would be interesting to take a look at the 2008 class. So, a quick flash back to 2008: UND had lost coach Lennon and just started the transition. In addition to losing the head coach, UND had to finish the recruiting season with GA recruiting because of two other open positions on the staff. NDSU had just finished 10-1 with a win over Minnesota. In addition, they had been accepted into the Gateway Football conference and were going to be playoff eligible for the first time. Here is UND's draft class: Original commits still on the roster: Benjamin, Devin - NG starter Brenneman, Ross - DE 3 yr starter - All Conference HM Freshman year, 2nd Team Soph Cameron, Brett - P 2 yr starter Gillson, Caleb - OL-G starter at the end of Junior yr. Heimler, Jon - WR - reserve Hendrickson, Marcus - QB - reserve Lynch, Emmett - OL-G starter - injuried during season junior yr. Magstadt, Ethan - RB reserve solid special teams player McGurran, Ian - C - 3 yr starter Mersereau, Erik - S - reserve special teams Nichols, Seth - TE - part time starter/special teams Sutton, Mitch - Fr Yr GW Rookie of Year, Soph/Jr limited by injury Watkins, Kenny - DB - played as TFr. reserve/sp teams Soph/Jr - starter Senior yr. Wisthoff, Seth - TE - starter Soph/Jr. Walk-Ons Bickel, Spencer - special teams player Nelson, Jay - DE - starter Orginal commits not on the roster: Rosario, Ian - never attended UND and it does not look like he played football after high school. Sorensen, Brian - does not look like he made it to UND. Currently he is a 6-3 217 OLB and he has played for MSU in 2009, 2010, and 2011. NOTE: He also returns kickoffs. Late Adds: Fonseca da Silva, Filipe - not on roster - I don’t believe he ever played for UND. After leaving UND it appears that he played at Sherbrooke in Montreal He was 2010 CIS Football: All-Canadian 2nd Team LB. Member of the East team in the 9th annual CIS East West Bowl Bamba, Ismael - not on roster - WR - played as true freshman, starter as Soph After leaving UND he played for Sherbrooke in Montreal Currently ranked at the 11th top prospect for the 2012 CFL draft How about the other D1 North Dakota high school recruits? Josh Horner RB – NDSU - not on roster Austin Vetter TE – NDSU - not on roster PWO-Reed Duchscher WR - NDSU - not on roster PWO-Zach Wentz QB - NSDU - not on roster - baseball What about the recruiting drama after coach Lennon left - UND had 5 or 6 decommits how did they do? -Kyle Cavil, 6-4, 240, DL, Ashwaubenon, WI - verballed to SIU He is still with SIU - played in 6 games last year career totals - 9 tackles -Dan Edem, 6-2, 220, TE, Eastview, MN - verballed to NIU Currently not the roster but it appears that he did play special teams for two years and he played OLB. -Mitch Haugeberg, 6-3, 293, OL, Minot, ND - verballed to Minot St Starter: 2009, 2010 and 2011. -Jason Obarski, 6-0, 190, P, Apple Valley, MN - verballed to NDSU Not on roster -Chris Tracy, 6-2, 205, OLB, West Lyon, IA - verballed to SDSU He appears to be one of the leading backup at OLB. But has been injured both Soph and Junior year. -Duraney White - WR - He ended up at Bishops University (CIS) in the fall of 2009 and is thought of as one the top prospects for the 2013 CFL draft. http://www.tsn.ca/co...orde/?id=334775 What stands out to me about this class, aside from the obvious talent level, is the size of some of the top prospects. Consider that this list easily could have included Quebec receivers Junior-Seydou Haïdara (6'2", 215, Laval) and Duraney White (6'5", 215, Bishop`s), University of Virginia defensive linemen Brent Urban (6'7", 280) and Hunter Steward (6'7", 285), and offensive tackles Ryan White (6'4", 290, Bishop's), Brander Craighead (6'6", 265, Texas-El Paso) and Josh Prinsen (6'7", 290, Queen's), all of whom are very legitimate prospects.

    FCS Recruiting

We only have one position open from last year (RT). Other than that the entire 2-deep in back, plus UND gets a starting RG back who was out due to injury last year, plus 4 red-shirt freshman from last year. The reason for the small class is because only two scholarships opened up from last year. One was filled and Mussman said that they would be looking to sign someone by May. So, the recruiting season is not over at this time. But, it appears that the small number of signees was expected. scholarship
  21. Absolutely, thanks for everything you have done - you made UND a better place.
  22. Because he is a Notre Dame Alum and his son is playing at Notre Dame the next 4 years...
  23. Doesn't this impact UND football this year with the ROOT contract. How will the viewing work for FCS and UND Insiders?
  24. As I understand it, only local broadcasters and regional areas with MidCont (my understanding not a lot of Fargo has access to MidCont) cable subscribers will see the game. Everyone else has to go to ROOT including people who pay for UND insider.

    2012 Recruiting

I always like to see 2/3 O-line per class. But, O-line looks OK right now and they are young. Plus, I think the redshirts from last year are going to be pushing the 1s and 2s.
