  1. This was an interesting listen. It has a discussion about media rights and how they plan to implement some of the changes. Plus time talking about phase II (weight room, locker room and sports medicine). Other Projects: - Ralph weight room update - Betty new basketball/volleyball - video/meeting room. Memorial Village - as of right now it is planned to be completed by Summer of 2024. Bill Chaves Podcast - Ep. 114 - University of North Dakota Athletics (fightinghawks.com)
  2. Is Austin Peay State starting hockey?
  3. that would bring in 4 or 5 schools that I have not heard of before.
  4. Are you talking about this $1.2 M difference to the South. Category NDSU SDSU UND USD Men's Teams Total Participants 336 354 228 256 Women's Teams Total Participants 243 353 199 289 Total Male Participants 336 354 228 256 Total Female Participants 243 353 199 289 Total Participants 579 707 427 545 Student Aid Men's Teams $3,186,056 $2,339,760 $2,908,752 $2,432,996 Women's Teams $1,971,671 $1,857,250 $2,235,548 $2,371,641
  5. To call myself out - I pulled the 500K out of thin air. And UND's football budget is far from destitute. Here are the numbers from Dept of Education. School Football Budget NDSU $5,104,034 UND $4,675,386 MSU $4,519,423 Ill St $4,308,293 YSU $3,792,946 USD $3,665,448 SDSU $3,406,193 Ind St $3,391,722 SIU $3,379,647 UNI $3,286,127 Drake $2,688,848 Valpo $889,262 WIU $708,017
  6. This is the group that I am looking forward to seeing. Offense: OL: Anderson So, Carroll R-Fr, and Kuntz So/Hagen R-Fr WR: Klien So and Wilson Jr RB: Mitchell So Defense: DL: Schultz R-Fr, Orlando So, and Ogbu Sr LB: McNeal R-Fr, Cooper Gr DBs: Bishop R-Fr, Buckner Sr
  7. I really don't understand the angst here at all. The people around the football program have held the program more than anything else: 1) UND President/AD - Kupchella/Thomas - misread the future of College and Athletics correctly. 2) Lennon leaving at the start of the transition with no AD. As an example - Stig stuck it out at SDSU plus they found some deep pockets in Stanford. 3) Missing hiring DeBoer. Those 3 decision have had far greater impact on the football program than some $500K annual payment. Football has what it needs: 1) Great School 2) Nice facilities (Alerus and Indoor Practice Facility) 3) Full Scholarship funding. 4) They are 1 of maybe 5 or 10 schools that grant CoA at the FCS level. 5) Great media coverage - Midco, Miller, UND Football 360 and Teeder during fall ball. Could they use more sure. But, the cupboards are not bare. It's time to get things done on the field.
  8. Dam.... that badger is not happy. Good Luck!
  9. Well, I know that they advertised Midco services several years ago in the western suburbs. But, this is the first time that I have heard about the addition of the channel. I assume that it's going to be included in the add-on sport package. So, that is the value-added portion for them.
  10. Absolutely agree: They have provided millions in scholarships, the Betty and Ralph - host men's/women's basketball, soccer, volleyball and hockey - plus more.
  11. The biggest advantage is exposure. UND is in the Twin Cities market with their front porch sports products. I believe that Midco is going to target St. Thomas next and when they do. It will make MidcoSN a very relevant product in the MSP marketplace. In the news release, they also noted that several other cable providers were in play. It will be interesting to see who they are. Again, as Midco expands throughout the region UND benefits.
  12. You are getting haughty about radio and CUSA - thats schools like Liberty and NMSU - correct?... Congrats I guess.
  13. No details yet but they should be announcing it soon ! This is the best part of this contract IMO.
  14. YES, Midco Sports is in the Twin Cities. I will have to check my channel lineup. Midco Sports will expand its reach into the Twin Cities this season. It has signed a contract to have an assigned channel on Comcast for cable subscribers in the Twin Cities.
  15. Hmmm, you got this out of the picture and headline. You have a few too many assumptions going on...slow your roll before driving it off the cliff my friend.
  16. Nice to see the project moving forward.
  17. Or does the PAC-12 grab the remaining Big 8 schools (KU/KSU/ISU/OSU) who have to be tired of the Texas drama.
  18. BIG - at 20 teams brings in Stanford/Cal-Berkley/UW/Notre Dame. Oregon only comes in if Notre Dame says no. And Oregon is only being considered because of Nike.
  19. I assume you are talking about Senators because of research dollars. If so, UNI has a very small research budget and the Senators are going to be more interested in protecting the Hawkeye and ISU than UNI. Here are the research numbers for the PAC school in question: Oregon and UND are on par for research spending which was kind of surprising to me. Institution 2019 U. 20. How smart was the UNL move from Big 12 to Big 10 years ago, I don't think they get in today. Maybe SEC?!?!?
