  1. It's to the point I really don't even look forward to this game any more due to comments like that from both sides. I think everyone needs to go back to their corner until a week before the game.
  2. The forum took down the challenge poll now I see, but I noticed yesterday that "Badlanders" was actually leading. Not sure what to make of that, but at any rate it would be better than no name at all.
  3. Does Jamestown even have a conference any more? A few years ago they were begging NAIA conferences in MN and MT to take them and no one wanted to.
  4. Kelley and/or the committee need to come out and just say having no nickname is just unacceptable and we aren't going there. I will never understand why this idea was allowed to fester as long as it has. Pick a damn name and move on, this has dragged out way too long. I'm sorry, but if it goes much longer, I'm not going to give a rip what they pick. Six months ago only a few names looked good to me, now anything except having no name is getting appealing.
  5. Roughriders is one name I just can't support. Something about it that rubs me the wrong way.
  6. Same could probably be said about hockey, particularly as it applies massively to women's hockey
  7. Why is this thread in the football forum? Title nine applies to all sports, not just football.
  8. It will always bug me that we waited to move up. No guts, no glory. And it shows here at UND too.
  9. He was talking about hosting a playoff game, not getting into the playoffs. But I will bet that if it takes us 8 more seasons to get into the playoffs Bubba ain't gonna be around to see it. JMO.
  10. I think Pat is almost like a unicorn, legendary and mystical. Maybe he only existed in our minds. I miss him too
  11. I can see the points that others have made about FBS transfers, and you are right, they do have a place. I just want to get to playoffs, and I don't care how we do it. I've always scaled back my optimism to 7-4 and hopefully that gets us in. Loses against WY, NDSU, MT, and CP.
  12. I agree fully. Nokota has always been my first choice, ever since PCM suggested it years ago and Charging Nokota works just as well.
  13. To an extent, you are right. What I was trying to get across was that everyone thinks FBS transfers are going to come in here and turn us into an FCS superpower in one year. It doesn't work that way.
  14. I'm thinking 8-3 and I'm too pessimistic? LOL
  15. I really think we are expecting way too much performance out of the FBS drop downs. These guys aren't going to be second stringers from Alabama, they will be guys who couldn't cut it on mediocre FBS teams. These are FBS teams that aren't much better than us, we are getting are getting the scrapings that failed. I just don't see FBS transfers as being the magic bullet that others do. I'd rather recruit and retain top notch kids out of high school and build the program right from the get go. Think about it, can you really succeed with kids that couldn't hack it elsewhere? And yes, I want to win immediately just as much as anyone but I'm not betting on transfers being able to do it. That said, I think we can make the playoffs this year with what we have. Just gotta do it.
  16. I agree with you, Wyoming is going to be a tough game. Every year a few people here, including geaux_sioux think the FB team has progressed to the point of being the greatest thing to ever grace the end zone, only to be proven wrong. With the QB situation, and really the whole offense still a big question mark, I don't see WY as being a win. I still think-hope-demand we make the playoffs, but this first game is probably a loss. To pretend that we are going to go into Laramie and push these guys around is unrealistic, even for geuax sioux. I want an FBS win as bad as anyone, but won't happen here. Main focus should be getting to 8-3 and the playoffs. Anything less is not a successful season.
  17. Better now than in a year from now when we've wasted a redshirt scholly on him. If they don't want to play, we don't want them.
  18. Lets see, Roughriders, where have I seen that? Oh yea, it's the name of Red River High School in Grand Forks. Yet, that idea gets play also.
  19. Nope, can't see it happening. Bohl hates UND from his NDSU days. He's not going to let anyone play for us until they sit a year.
  20. The two ideas I will never support is to go without a nickname or to adapt Roughriders. The agreement with the NCAA requires of to adopt on and also the merchandising aspect is huge for a new name. It's just time to move on and a new name is a good start. As to the Roughriders, it really has no connection to UND and more importantly, it's wrong to copt a name that belongs to a local high school. My first choices would be either Nokota or North Stars. Both are bold names and make a statement about who we are.
  21. WDAY radio wasn't much better. I caught 5 minutes of Kolpacks radio show yesterday morning and practically threw up in my mouth. They had Carson Wentz's dad on and they are going on about how UND offered Carson the keys to the kingdom and probably would have been a 4 year starter, but he chose to go to NDSU knowing he'd be stuck behind Jensen for years, but look at him now. Gloat a little more about getting a great QB. I still wonder too why we let WDAY broadcast our regular season games. We seem to be outcasts to them any other time.
  22. I agree, it's hard for an FCS team to break even when they sell out the stadium. Considering how low attendance has been in recent years, there is no way FB made money last year.
  23. It's really disappointing that there isn't more media attention to the spring game. Maybe Faison needs to step up pressure on WDAY to start doing more? Next concern is whether the fall games will be promoted heavier than in the past? We are going totally dominated by NDSU in all facets of the media and it needs to stop. Do many people even realize we HAVE a spring game tomorrow?
  24. I firmly believe that men's hockey is the only place we need to fund, plus the Title IX equivalent. Maybe everyone will lose their nerve on funding football when they see what it costs. Paying for 126 COA's won't be cheap, and I just don't see how we can afford this. If we could charge more for tickets, I suspect we'd be doing it already, and it's not fair to put more on the backs of those already paying, meaning fans and Champion Club members. Go with hockey and see how everything else shakes out.
  25. I've seen stories where the Montana schools and Idaho State have said they weren't going to give out stipends and felt it wasn't needed in the Sky. I agree with this, no one can afford a big time increase like this. I'm in favor of giving to the hockey programs (both M and W) since hockey is our big sport here and men's hockey is the one that brings in the revenue. I'd say we are looking at about something close to $250,000 just for football, and a like number for other women's sports. No way can we afford this right now, so sit tight and see what happens. The other Sky schools holding back should be a huge red flag to wait. IMO
