I'm really thinking give Jones one more year, with an ultimatum. The team has to make huge improvements or he's gone, and then do it. Salary for HC and the assistants are going to have jump up or we get another ho hum guy. Just hard to get excited about the BB team, I'm sorry but that's the way it is. I still miss Dave Gunther.

I'm thinking Bartels will be our starter simply because Mollberg won't be 100% by spring ball and really, Bartels was the better QB in the first place. I agree with you on Studsrud, I don't think he's quite the boy wonder some people want him to be. Maybe in time he'll get there, but it won't happen this year.

I never even caught that until you mentioned it. That is more than a little disconcerting. While I really like this class, I strongly feel that there were a lot of good players we missed out on, and WI has traditionally been good for recruits. We can't be conceding whole areas like this on recruiting battles. As I said, I like what we got, but we really won't know for a couple years, and I hope we weren't just picking up what ever we could get to fill spots. Right or wrong, the lack of other offers always makes a person wonder.

This is what I can't figure out. WDAY is making tons of money off our games, so they should be spending the morning pumping up our program. All I kept hearing was how this commit or that commit to NDSU had X number of offers, including an FBS school. I honestly thought I was going to throw up in my mouth a couple times. Faison needs to tell them we are an entire package, all or nothing.

That was all I heard on WDAY too this morning. I thought they were supposed to be 'our' radio station?

This is my gut feeling as well. No legit kid flys that far under the radar and we've all seen too many can't miss kids turn into flops.

I'm assuming Title IX has a lot to do with us having women's hockey. Even if it doesn't, I think we need to be fair to the women and keep it going, the participation numbers are there.

Women's hockey can't and won't be cut. Baseball doesn't amount to that much and probably isn't worth the hornets nest it would stir up.

This will be the death knell for FCS football at a lot of schools. For us, it makes sense for hockey, even considering that the men are going to have to subsidize the women's COA stipend. I don't see how UND can possible afford to do this for football, especially if we have to pay for a women's equivalent. Just for football, ticket prices are going to have to increase by something like $12-15 and I have no idea where the money comes from for a women's equivalent. I'm not saying we should drop the idea, but I think it's going to be very, very difficult to pull off. The money simply isn't going to be there.

That's the very point I was getting at. It doesn't matter that Mussman supposedly (at least according to geaux sioux) recruited the best players out there. If they transfer after a year or two, it doesn't do us any good at all. Go after only good recruits and only players from the upper midwest. That said, get us a stud QB for this class as well.

I'm not so sure Mussman realized anything in his last 2 classes. How many of his recruits are still here? Not many, and it was because they lacked the work ethic you find in ND and MN kids. We need to be nailing the cream of the crop in our area, not letting them win titles for NDSU. Until we start putting together monster classes, where we actually beat out the leading schools, we'll continue to bob along with mediocre teams. We might be improving, but I have to wonder if Bubba will get us to the Playoff Promised Land with what we have. And, getting there is only half the battle, we need to win there too.

That's exactly right. Furthermore, we need to be going after the QB's that we know can make a difference. I think too many years we've been settling for what ever will sign on the line and that's no way to make the playoffs. I'm leery about bringing up NDSU, but it's their QB's that have gotten them places over the years.

I really think we need to go after a top notch QB for this class. Last year showed us that weakness and we need to step it up in this area and should have been a top priority for the staff.

Very disappointing home stand. Still don't know what to make of Jones. Doubt we can afford anything any better.
