USD SGA (Student Government Association) is basically a joke. I think my high school student council had more teeth. Anyways, if your student government is like ours, and a majority obstained when they have no power. Talk about a dog and pony show. Seriously, I love the Sioux name, but at this point it is holding you back. Sieze the opportunity to fashion your own name rather than fight for the Sioux name, because it is gonna be gone, and you don't want the liberal profs renaming UND the Green Wave or something stupid like that. Heck, us Coyotes wouldn't even wish THAT upon you. (But we would the Jacks, The Yeller Wave, I like the sound of that).

Just thinking of all you NoDaks up there. Let's get rid of this weather and let spring (and some dry days) come. I know Fargo is seeing the worst but GF is right down river so I am hoping you guys will be OK.

Any chance USD plays in GF on a hockey weekend? Though I may become a little drunk from celebrating a Coyote victory, but I can plan on hitting the friday game.
-
Why are the 2010 and 2012 games against USD in Vermillion mid-season games along with the 2009 game in Grand Forks? I see they had some sense and made the 2011 game in GF the last game of the year. I think it was pretty cool how the last game of the year the last few years has been USD v UND weekend. I wish they could permanently make that the last game of the year.

This is an outsider's perspective, but one of a hockey fan. Why should NDSU, or USD, or SDSU, or any other school add hockey? Because as a passionate fan of the game I want the sport to expand into as many schools as possible to expose more and more people to this great game. That said, if NDSU adds hockey before USD (if USD ever does) I will be jeolous, just like I'm jeolous UND has hockey and USD doesn't. That may not fly on this board, and this also may not be well received, but my buddy and I have tix to the Gopher/Badger game Saturday night in the Cities and I can't wait for the puck to drop. Road trip!

Don't know where else to put this but since you talk a little about USD's schedule here I think this is the right place. This is being reported on USD's message board. 2009 Coyote Schedule Home vs William Penn @UNI Home vs U-W Stout Home vs SE Louis @UND Home vs Cal-Davis (HC Game) @Montana State @Akron @UNC Home VS S. Utah @Cal Poly Bring on the Akron Zips!!! Two non D-1's. We had a couple of backouts (WTAMU and McNeese St, we know who you are) or wouldn't have Stout on the schedule and might have had 6 home games. Wondering now if Mont St. is a 2 for 1, and when they'll back out of the return game. They'll probably give us notice right after we whip their butts up there. Don't have the date on the trip to GF but am planning a roadie!

Anyway, my TV choices for hockey tonight are Michigan/Michigan St, UNO/Miami, or UND/DU. I've got the Sioux going on both TV sets. Good luck tonight, here we go!

What was that freaking song? My ears hurt. You'd think it would be something a little more, you know, manly. At least play the Gear Daddies' Zamboni Song.
-
Is the game on FSSN tonight? I checked my Midcontinent channel down here but they are showing the stupid Augie v Winona St basketball game.
-
If you have to play them (USF), please knock the snot out of them. A 50 point margin of victory would be nice. The people in Sioux Falls are actually starting to see USF as some sort of "bigtime" program. Not only would a good Sioux trouncing help seperate USD from these schools, you'd be doing Augie and Northern State a favor as well.

I've always been a supporter of UND keeping the Sioux name but I have to wonder how much damage this fight to keep the name is really doing to UND. Honestly, I don't see this problem ever going away. Not to compound things, but while UND is dealing with fighting to keep the name, as well as the transition to D1, what effect is this name controversy going to have on UND finding conference affiliation? Is a conference going to want to admit UND while you are in the midst of this?

So Coyote Red is soon to be deemed hostile and abusive, or at the very least overly aggressive. Maybe we'll need to switch to pink? Nope, can't do that either, ask the Iowa locker rooms how that works out.

I don't know about apocolypse but it is a definite indication of the slide that D2 football is on. I'm now watching the UNI v Richmond game. Much better. I'm glad we moved on. The announcers kept talking about the turnaround that UMD made this year. I wish they had announcers with D2 knowledge because they would have then been able to understand and talk about the reason for the turnaround, not having to play an NCC schedule.
-
Finally, some passion. I thought you had all given up on your football team.
-
It doesn't matter what time the game is, we are going to kick you a**. That is official smack, go ahead and bring it...and bring Sitting Bull with you from GF because his new home is Vermtown.
-
The game is at noon. That's official. Spread the word.

Last I heard McNeese has pulled out of their 2009 game in Vermillion. I guess this is what life is going to be like as a newbie to this division. Schools are going to treat us this way scheduling wise for a while. They know we are desperate and the only thing that is going to save us from having to go through this every year is either an expanded GWFC or a new conference home (MVC Superconference??) As far as scheduling goes, I would hope each GWFC school would get 2 home and 2 away games every year. That only makes sense. From what I have heard, the trip to SUU is actually the toughest of all because it involves a 14 hour bus trip, according to the Cali schools the Dakota trips are much easier.

USD 42 SUU 20 FINAL
-
USD over SUU 42-20 with 11:00 left in the game.
-
Both the UND and USD men's basketball scores were on the tickers last night during the Louisville/Cincy football game. For what it's worth.
-
Uh huh? UND, USD, and likely UNO would have all beat the Dogs. Face it, the NSIC is a powder puff league. If the Sioux rolling up their conference champ in the first round of the playoffs every year doesn't tell you that then I don't know what to say. Shoot, USD blew out WSU last year, the game was pathetic, we tinkered around with them. How easy would it be to recruit at GVSU? "Well son, we pretty much dominate our top heavy league every year, and we basically get a bye the first two rounds of the playoffs...if you play with us and win two games, you'll have a Nat Champs ring. How's that sound?"
-
I posted this question on the Coyote board and will do the same here. From its birth in 1953 to its retirement in 2000, USD and UND battled it out on the gridiron for the Sitting Bull Trophy. Since it is highly unlikely Sitting Bull will come out of retirement should the two schools consider competing for a different traveling trophy? With the two schools new beginnings in the D1 world it may be a good time for the birth of a new trophy. Thoughts on this and what suggestions would you make for what this trophy should be.

I can think of 3 for sure losses off the top of my head.

State opener for pheasant season here in South Dakota on Saturday. It's a killer on attendance whether it's a State or U game. Whenever USD plays a game on the pheasant opener (which we try to avoid if possible) it is usually a night game to soften the blow to attendance. Pheasant opener in South Dakota is like the Walleye Opener in Minnesota, the state goes crazy. Don't you guys have the same issues with the deer season opener?

No offense, but even UND fans know that USD fans can legitimately use this same reasoning in every USD loss the last two years (except the debacle at UNO), including the UNI game from this year, the game at SLU, and the BIG game we lost to UND last year. If it wasn't for stupid penalties, turnovers, and questionable calls we would win most games we play too, but we don't, because those are part of the game and part of being a disciplined team. So you can say the game shouldn't have been close, but it was. I could also say that when SLU comes up to the Dakotadome there is a pretty good chance USD will blow them out, but this game was played on the road and the results stand by themselves.
