Montana announcers ripping the ref's - welcome to our world.

Was it over when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor?
-
I blame Muss.

Must be a student production - one of the primary (and simple) rules of sports production is you never change the prospective from one side of the court to the other during the game - it's just too confusing for the viewer.

Not sure in the history of UND has the football team ever had a season of all sell outs. Of course averaging more than 10,000 a game would be nice.

Anyone else get only a black screen on Big Sky TV? Shanks getting the usual phantom fouls.
-
No way he wins Coach of the Year for several reasons not the least of which is Big Sky Bias, then there is his courtside antics.
-
I also love how much fun this team seems to have - and they seem to trust each other. Even though Shanks has some hand coordination issue they don't give up on him - and you gotta feel for the guy because he is totally getting shafted on phantom fouls in every game (not saying there isn't room for much improvement but if he improves as much next year as he did from last year to this year he will grow into a solid contributor). Love our bench strength too and the guys waiting it out this year are going to bring even more to the table.

Sitting here with my foam hockey stick hat on, courtesy of the UNO (#mavspirit), great weekend to go on a road trip. Solid performance by UND - defense was dominating. Considering they have been swept 4 times at home since December their crowd wasn't that bad. Their students have got several routines down and they have some great video productions that get the crowd going. Thank you Joanna and Al for putting together another great bus trip. (By the way it's been my experience that on a road trip this team and its fans are all "Fighting Sioux")
-
Getting ready to make a 500+ mile roadtrip to the games with about 40 of my "closest" friends.
-
Fans gotta be careful though because according to the NCAA even saying "UND is a great school" to a prospective recruit is a violation.
-
So many guys had bad games and where is Seales?

I call total BS on The Betty sicing the ushers on the student section. I talked to a securityguard andhe said is was The Betty staff thatmade the request.

From what I have read on Pro Days it is not the host schools decision on who can attend. There us an Association that governs them.

I really don't think the Marketing Department needs an email from me to figure out that if they want to create excitement about football they could start by doing more with the spring football game. The lack of effort has to be intentional and maybe it's coming from the football department. Maybe their focus during spring football doesn't lend itself to a full-blown public event. Regardless having the game at Memorial Stadium will do nothing to bring in anyone but the hard-core fans - there will be no tailgating atmosphere, funky restrooms, no PA announcer, no booths attempting to generate interest. Heck they could use the time to promote tailgating spots but that is another area where they have demonstrated they really aren't willing to put much effort in - don't get me started there (and yes many have shared many ideas for pumping this up - it's just status quo year-after year). So instead of using Spring Football as a way to jumpstart excitement for next year it will pass unnoticed within the community and there will continue to be comparisons.
-
Geez I hope they beef up the promotion and activities a little bit. There were six groups tailgating out of the back of their cars last year.

Dang - I have a conference that day in St. Paul all day. I'm going to be at the tourney and just hope UND is not in the 3:30 game on Saturday. If anyone wants to order Sioux Forever shirts I will give the usual Hoggsbreath discount which is $15 (and I'll throw in free shipping). Check them out at siouxpride.com and PM me.

That's the irony - it is impossible to retire a logo/name the only way to prevent its use is for the owner of the logo/name to keep using it - otherwise it becomes public domain and with all the technology it would be easy to replicate the logo.
-
If UND were to transfer/give rights to the O'Brien logo to Spirit Lake it would become the NCAA's worst nightmare. It wouldn't take long for it to become even more rampant. Either they would screw up the process for protecting the logo by failing to protect unauthorized use (they would need to be diligent about monitoring and addressing unlicensed use) or even worse handing it over to the company that manage their casino, who seeing the marketing value would flood the market. I highly doubt UND would ever consider this option. As it remains they can make a run of clothing every so often and make a nice little chunk of change - and if it is available every year there will always be students that gravitate toward it. This logo is never going away.
-
For a young team they kept it together - if we can split on this road trip and protect home court we will have momentum going into the neutral court in Reno.
-
South Dakota was able to prepare -

I am not going to do the research so I don't know the specifics other than a company has to use a logo periodically (whatever time period that is I don't know) otherwise someone else could step up and use it and say "Hey they weren't using it anymore". I doubt we will see it very often - although I would bet The Ralph will make sure they use it as often as is allowed. I would think that Stanford, Miami of Ohio and other schools that have gone through the change have to do the same thing.

As long as ego doesn't get in the way I just wonder about some guys "needing" to start and some guys doing just fine coming off the bench and making impact. I see that in Avants and Seales for example (there are others) both give solid performances coming off the bench - if we know that Shanks is going to get two fouls in the first 10 minutes (whether he actually makes the fouls or poor officiating makes them up) then having guys that are willing and very talented coming off the bench is a great asset.
