  1. Just a update on the Sioux Forever Shirts, the version that was at Sheels is not available anymore - UND asked that they stop selling them. There is a Sioux Forever Shirt available at Play it Again Sports, Fargo and Grand Forks or SIouxpride.com Just to clarify the shirts aren't associated with UND and are intended to support the preservation and history of the Sioux name.
  2. The Warriors (with a Thor/Scandinavian theme or icon) works - then we can "Put the hammer down" on opponents and use a Thunder Bolt/Lightning strike as a sound affect when good things happen - and lots of good things are going to be happening!
  3. Thanks to all we visited the site and placed an order.
  4. Yah and St. Cloud State is bigger than all of them, what's your point and whatever it is please make it on a different site.
  5. I stand corrected, but Prairie Rose Pink has a nicer ring to it.
  6. I disagree, when the urgency to win takes over everything else you end up with Best Buy situations. Yes we need winning seasons to bring back the bandwagon fans and thus the money, but not at that cost. Okay to get this thread back on topic. There is no way they would consider changing the colors - why would they, the colors have nothing to do with team names and logos. Actually the Prairie Rose color (what uninformed call pink) is one thing that makes UND unique and true to the state.
  7. Let them salivate, what goes around comes around, they need this for their ego and the constant "see this REALLY proves we are a better school than you are."
  8. Just want to remind you that SIouxpride.com has a selection of special Sioux shirts including the original Once a Sioux, Always a Sioux design. I am a UND graduate but the site is not affiliated with UND however I am hoping that when/if there are any profits (not there yet) I will be to support UND programs. If you live in Grand Forks or Fargo you can find them at Play It Again Sports. Larger selection is in Grand Forks.
  9. Yup - display it proudly at the Heritage Center in Bismarck along with a complete list of the games and scores.
  10. I'm thinking the Sioux should be able to light it up against the pourous USD defense - remember even though they beat the gophers they gave up 38 points to them. This is a winnable road game - let's go Sioux.
  11. Okay but how about city leagues for men, women, co-ed and kids headquartered in The Ralph and every team has Fighting Sioux in the name? Fighting Sioux Blue, West Side Fighingig Sioux, Fighting Sioux I, II, III etc. This is a little tongue in cheek but it would be a way to keep the name in the community and for The Ralph to continue to be the Home of the Fighting Sioux. UND would have to give permission for the use of the name however.
  12. I think it's okay to mention my website Siouxpride.com, we don't sell jerseys but we have hooded sweatshirts and exclusive Sioux designs. After the school's deadline, you won't find the Sioux logo anywhere unless it's sold as second-hand items.
  13. We will be there in our "Once a SIoux always a Sioux" garb, ready for a great home season experience.
  14. Anyone know what UND's official colors are called? Aren't they Kelly Green and Prairie Rose Pink? (Note this is not a joke.)
  15. No it can't be Lakes - no (*&()*&(*)&)(*&, no grammar issues, no "They are so behind us, we've moved on and most importantly - NO CAPITAL LETTERs,
  16. According to the local paper football only costs the school $25,000 after you factor in the income and subtract the expenses so look for them to cut the other 8 sports instead. Perhaps this was just to shake up the boosters and being able to justify cutting the eight non-revenue sports which will of course bring lots of criticism from TItle IX supporters. Remember how it went when UND threatened to cut golf?
  17. Would it work if September-October games were played at Memorial Stadium and November games played in Alerus? I suppose you could say it could still mean snow games in October, but less likely. Just thinking aloud
  18. UND needs to sell the rights to the Fighting Sioux name to The Ralph then The Ralph can continue to use the name and make money off the logo items. UND has no use for the name anymore but they still own the rights. UND washes it's hands but The Ralph can preserve the name forever.
  19. If you have time contact The Ralph about getting a behind the scenes tour. The Plaza is probably the cheapest, cleanest, just know you are getting a room and that's it. I'm not bashing it just want you to know what you will be getting. I use Hotel.com but read the reviews.
  20. It will take some time to heal and accept this, Stay classy, Sioux Forever.
  21. And of course it's because the North Dakota Legislature has lots of UND graduates which in turn means it is anti-NDSU, just like all the ND media.
  22. I think it's time we turned the tables on the nickname opponents and started asking them the tough questions. Questions like: What are you doing to address the real documented issues facing Native Americans such as unemployment, substance abuse, suicide and domestic violence? Where would you rank the retirement of the Fighting Sioux nickname in importance to the issues of unemployement, substance abuse, suicide and domestic violence? How would retiring the Fighting Sioux nickname help Native Americans with the issues of unemployment, substance abuse, suicide and domestic violence? What is the UNDIA and other organizations on and off campus doing to address these issues? What time and resources are the other organizations that are so vocally against the nickname putting toward these issues? How does it compare with the time and resources they are putting toward retiring the nickname? I would love to see Chuch Haga from the Grand Forks Herald get a round table discussion going on this issue and ask these questions of those organizations and individuals who are claiming the nickname is holding back Native Americans. With all the negative stereotypes of native americans that exist and all the social problems they face it's hard to believe that removing any association with an institution of higher education or eliminating one of the only positive images in the public's eye would help overcome these problems. Let's start asking them these questions.
  23. Wow - what an incredibly bias story from the Grand Forks Herald. You can bet these students were hand picked because of their opinons. Not one voice on the other side - as if there is 100 percent agreement from Native Americans, which we know there isn't. Of course they are going to say the Spirit Lake supporters are uninformed, that's because the vote didn't go their way. You always question the results when something does not support your opinion. My parents raised me to understand that "No one can make you feel a certain way, you are in control of your emotions and thoughts" I was at the Pow Wow in Grand Forks and saw several other non-native americans there. It was a beautiful spring day I bet there were many events within the city that had light attendance but I don't think they are blaming it on prejudice. I could also say "I did not feel welcome there", "People were looking at me funny and talking about me" or "I did not feel safe" But I won't. I was stopped at the door to the event rather disrespectfully by door monitors who obviously were assuming that I did not have a ticket or did not belong there. They asked me for my ticket but they did not ask the people in front of me - must of been because of my color. It made me feel unwelcome, it made me feel uncomfortable - guess I should have called the newspaper or filed a discrmination complaint. Of all the negative stereotypes of Native Americans that exist and will continue to exist we are about to eliminate one of the few postive symbols. It's sad but I don't think getting rid of the Fighting Sioux logo is going to stop idiots who are prejudice from shouting stupid comments out of truck windows.
  24. Here's something of interest from ESPN The Magazine this week. William & Mary chooses griffin as their new mascot, teams will still be known as The Tribe. How is calling yourself the Tribe not hostile and abusive?
