  1. I expect reports of massive hoards of people rushing the boarder, promises of a middle class tax cut, threats that the stock market will crash.
  2. As we know they are only as good as the OL in front of them. Injuries always an issue for us also - perhaps the new strength and conditioning coach will help.
  3. I hold my breath every time there is an update alert on this thread.
  4. Wow - seeing the new assistant coach they hired one wonders what the quality of candidates were? Willing to give her a chance but ...so many questions. https://fightinghawks.com/news/2024/5/22/womens-basketball-north-dakota-adds-gayner-as-womens-basketball-assistant-coach.aspx
  5. Sad to point out that St. Thomas has already passed UND in MBB and WBB how long until they do the same in hockey? They've got the money.
  6. We did beat YSU on the road last time we played
  7. As we know the distance between 1-4 and the rest of the field is large. If D improves, I think our O will be fine. Some nice pedigrees on O.
  8. Based on how the same two teams win it all every year, right now we are in the range of #15. Not satisfied, just saying. I am fine with not being in pre season polls, we seldom are.
  9. Finishing #3 or #4 in the toughest conference in FCS? More like East Coast Bias when you look at the schools ranked most would not be #3 in MVFC.
  10. Based on a comment or two it appears that some in the Big Sky would like to show UNC the door (like they felt about UND).
  11. I realize you are being sarcastic as he is moving up two levels to a scholarship.
  12. I think hiking the tailgate prices will have as negative domino affect. We have had three spots for 15 plus years. Yes, we do not tailgate in our spaces because we are part of a large group. As UND wishes we are giving up those spots and will just pay for parking. So now it is easy to decide not to go (no season long investment). After some discussion we also decided to forgo season tickets and go game by game. Now it is easy to decide to skip the 4 hour drive, stay home and watch the game on TV.
  13. JMO because of the portal we see: A small town North Dakota kid trade what would have been a legacy career of being a four starter at his Flagship University in his home state. Like Kleinsasser, a lifetime example of state pride for his hometown. Instead that legacy is lost and he will be a footnote at an out of state school. I understand that money was probably involved. That money will be gone in a few years. I understand he has the chance at hitchhiking onto a national championship, tough to argue that. However, it is proven that if you have talent for the next level they will find you. Yes, they make their choice and do what they think is best for themselves at the time. No ill will here. There are few opportunities to become legends in your home state. Those that are, are legends because they stayed.
  14. Just passed through the state, what I heard on the radio was far from courteous and cordial.
  15. I realize this is just a one-off comment, but this assumes that Bubba has tailgating police reporting to him because he certainly is never in the tailgating area. Also pretty sure they won Tailgater of the Game at least once. Third I frequented there and never saw anything close to being " partying too hard", often saw UND staff and player's parents stopping by.
  16. Different time, different priorities. Why does a player goes through spring ball (obviously knows he's going into the portal) and waste his time and his coaches. Walks away from his team. Okay it's about the $$$, different time, different priorities. UND took a chance on him and he walks away.
  17. Gutsy based on the state of the football team and WBB.
  18. UND gets into the Big Sky and there is excitement. First it's a top level conference and they turned down Moo U. Won the conference within a few years. Then reality sets in and the travel costs, recruiting challenges (kids in Midwest want to be able to play in the Midwest) and lack of teams that are of interest to ND fans takes a toll (Portland State anyone)?. So UND moves back to The Summit and is out on an island for a few years (which hurts recruiting). Then rivalries return along with the recruiting region. The reality is UND is now playing one of the toughest schedules every year and for now is the #3/4 team in a two team conference. Cries to return to the Big Sky make my head scratch.
  19. Pleases share why you think expanding the recruiting area is a bad thing.
  20. Talked with Coach Mo briefly in Sioux Falls, he wax optimistic about turning things around, but said there would be some changes coming. No other details, but I assumed he meant the roster, turned out it was the coaching staff.
  21. Was really hoping to see at least one scholarship open up from the existing roster.
  22. I see four more wins. Which games do you see us winning if Danny was still here? Every school dealing with portal issues. Youngstown State just lost a key skills player to portal. Special teams wins us at least one if not two games. 8-4 (I want to be optimistic for the players). Iowa State - L Montana - L Idaho State - W San Diego - W Murray State - W NDSU - L UNI - W (home cooking) Youngstown State - W (we beat them there two years ago and they took some portal hits) Indiana State - W (Larry Bird ain't coming through that door) SDSU - L USD - W (only because we never lose to them at home) Illinois State - W (playoffs could be on the line, we'll know what we have by now)
  23. I guess we'll learn if small town North Dakota translates to DI basketball. We really need to get stronger under the basket. South Dakota schools seem to do okay with them.
