  1. Watching online yes the penalty was pretty obvious, but the announcers where the ones saying throughout the OTs "You can't call a penalty in overtime." Tough to accept the tradition of changing the way the game is called in overtime. I suppose the longer the game and the more tired they get it's inevitable a penalty will eventually have to be called.
  2. Sorry in this game I won't say the better team on the ice won - give UND just one Powerplay in the OTs and you have the biggest upset in women's college hockey. Can't accept that Minnesota got three powerplays and UND got none - Minnesota definitely had callable penalties that were not called because "You can't call that in overtime."
  3. Interesting that in the second OT we were pulled down in front of their net and the announcer said "We're too deep into overtime for UND to get that call", guess things changed a little later when they got the call.
  4. When are CIT invitations sent out. It would be great to be at full strength and get a CIT bid against another team within the region waiting for one - perhaps the CIT would create a bidding war to host the game?
  5. Going with no nickname is probably what most old schoolers would go for but it is very limiting when it comes to generating income to the school from shirts and other items. Anyone can slap North Dakota on something and sell it. Now UND could develop a special North Dakota typestyle or logo-type word and protect that but they can't stop anyone from printing North Dakota. Thus the reason they might move toward a new nickname. Unfortunately they could continue to make millions off of Fighting Sioux as an historic icon but the NCAA won't allow it. They do have to figure out some way to use Fighting Sioux in the public entity in order to protect it however. I'm sure they have that one figured out already.
  6. Yah they are just looking in the wrong place - you won't find it in stores you may find it in courtrooms, back seat of police cars, Best Buy stores after hours ...
  7. Wonder if this is a subtle message to those who left? "Madison is a strong player that wants to be at UND," Brewster said.
  8. Tough to understand how some want to put a first year coach on the "hot seat". Mike Krzyzewski would have been gone after his first year with that standard.
  9. It's a fun off-shoot of the Final Five, a gathering of like-minded UND fans, good food and we pretty much have the place to ourselves.
  10. You can turn this into a negative about the program if that is what you are looking for. Leaving a program with one game left in a season is more a reflection on the players than the staff. No way the staff would kick players off a team with one game left unless there were major team violations or legal issues. What does it say about their relationship and connection with their team mates and their personal integrity - they were playing on scholarship and didn't fulfill their part of the deal.
  11. A coaching change over means the new coach gets to develop the program the way he wants and with players that fit the needs of the new program direction. Not to bash the two that are leaving but if you have seen any of the games and focused on their play you would not be that concerned about these departures. In fact with two scholarships free it means the coach can bring in two new players that better fit the future needs of the teams. I am totally not concerned about the direction of this team and see Brewster easily able to bring in the talent needed to put it at the top of the Big Sky and keep it there.
  12. I will bring some door prizes from my website product line - siouxpride.com. I cam make either day.
  13. Wish them well, hope they find what they are looking for. Forwarding thinking now - two scholarships that Brewster can use to build his team, that could make for a very strong freshman class next year - not unusual for freshman to make an impact on a team. Oh and I assume this means we won't see UND shirts on su football players anymore or hear them say "Sioux Suck" at their national championship rally.
  14. Direct from the website - bolded text is my assumptions. Goals by Funding Priority Students: (assuming this means scholarships) $100 million Educators: (assuming this means growing/keeping high quality educators) $100 million Programs: (assuming this means investing in educational programs) $50 million Places: (assuming this means infrastructure) $50 million
  15. Except for the "fact" that they are building to beat Alabama. That is if they can keep their players out of the courtroom - oh that is one thing they have in common with Alabama.
  16. Statistically yes, but that is why they play the game - or in this case, why they don't play the game.
  17. Oh but you are on double secret probabtion on both sites
  18. Great - you've accomplished the daily goal of every su blogger that frequents this site - why don't you just take turns.
  19. This game won't happen - by not playing, su maintains the only advantage they have - the unknown. Thinking back to the last 10 years of the rivalry they were pretty confident every year they were going to win - how did that work out for them. They can't take the chance of playing UND and losing. (perhaps I'll get some fantasy points out of this post). su vs UND Most wins: UND Last 10 years of rivalry: UND Last head to head: UND
  20. Everyone bring someone - can't wait - hope to bring some newbies! I voted for Saturday thinking it might be better for those not on "Final Five Vacation". But either works for me.
  21. So what hotel(s) around the X have a lot of UND fans staying in them usually?
  22. Pretty sure that was printed as a "Column" by Tom, which is not the same as sports news - it's considered to be an article written to share thoughts and opinions.
  23. That's not very nice - it's a room over his garage.
