  1. No need to defend this thread but I havn't poked the trolls in awhile. 1. The issue never goes away, just when they think it's safe another guy on the team gets in trouble. 2. It's a community thread - group hug for the wayward souls who don't seem to know right from wrong - fighting in alleys wrong, faking signatures wrong, flashing kids wrong, stealing electronic equipment wrong - it's not that difficult. 3. It's right there in the newspaper - it could just as easily be titled community news. 4. It's just so darn fun (and easy) to poke the trolls - they just can't stay away. 5. We understand your need to come here everyday and make sure you make your point about how much better you think FU is than UND. It probably saves you money on therapy.
  2. Appreciate the sentiment but don't like cluttering the UND football thread with non-UND stuff - Not trashing you, what if we had a Football (Non UND) thread?. Go penguins!
  3. Okay not to get the fans who can't be there jealous but those of us who can be there next Thursday - either: What are you going to eat at your tailgate What is your favorite tailgating menu Looks like we are going to have fresh corn on the cob - with extra for those stragglers that walk by looking hungry.
  4. I'm not being adversarial (to you), but I'd like to know the facts behind the statement "90% of ND kids would rather play football for NDSU than UND". There are many factors that go into choosing a college for a sport - first off few within the state are at the level of FU and UND now, second off it actually comes down to an education for many student athletes with goals higher than being a signature gatherer.
  5. Relax we're just having fun in the "Community" thread poking the trolls.
  6. Come on..(sarcasm coming)... He was innocent, he only pleaded guilty to put this all behind him and get the media off his back. The Fargo police are out to get FU football players When he asked the guy if he'd like to settle it out in the alley - he thought they were going to hug it out. When he walked into the alley he had no idea he was walking into a fight. When he walked away from the police it was because he was dazed from being pummeled in the alley (the fact that the other guy was found unconscious is irrelevent). There is no way they had enough evidence to convict him. This was a trumped up charge. If he would have gone to court he would have been found not guilty but because he is more concerned about preserving the team and his school's reuputation, he took it for the team. He's suffered enough, he didn't get his day in court. It didn't involve drugs (however it did involve violence - guess they let that slip) It could have been worse - at least he didn't expose himself to children.
  7. That's what happens when you have a conference with an unbalanced schedule -was it Cal Poly that had a similar schedule last year, none of the top teams and all fo the bottom dwellers and they rode that to the playoffs. Home field is nice but it's not worth more than a 3 point advantage in most booking situations, you still have to make the plays.
  8. Sounds like the definition of a college town.
  9. They are always biting ....here we go again ...
  10. Wow - a visiting fan from another team and no smack - welcome. Come to the game early and walk through the tailgating area - you're welcome to stop into the Siouxpride.com van site for a beverage. Sorry but gotta say it - we hope you leave the game disappointed and your team takes it out on FU later .
  11. Outside of the top 10 it's hard to take this poll seriously.
  12. Wasn' it Northern Alabama that lost a hosting opportunity and had to go on the road (to UND) and it came down to a game they played and won against a FSC team?
  13. Yah and my neighbor chose to end her marriage by signing the divorce papers but it was her husbands actions that created the situation. We can agree to disagree and also know we will be perpetually living with the revisionist history of the FU faithful - especially the ones that have moved on and don't care about the rivalry anymore
  14. Everyone's allowed their opinion but these are facts: FU left the conference FU left the division By leaving the division FU gained more scholarships than UND putting the game on an unlevel playing field At the time there were NCAA penalties in place for playing a team from an upper division - penalities that impacted making the playoff and hosting playoff games Of course FU wanted to continue the rivalry they had been beaten down for 10 years and now had the upper hand not only in number of scholarships but also now they were able to attract a higher level of athlete, also they were struggling for games - why wouldn't they want the game to continue they had everything to win and nothing to lose UND had a full conference schedule and the opportunity to make the playoffs - why should UND have risked injuries, home field advantage in the playoffs to play a game that was actually going to hurt their playoff opportunities no matter if they won the game or lost it. (same argument FU used to not schedule UND years later by the way). Yes UND could have scheduled the game but the reasons for ending the rivalry were put in place by FU.
  15. Sorry but you lose your credibility when you state that it was UND that ended.the rivalry. But that's another tired discussion the FU fans love to come here and discuss. As far as the Nickel Trophy the record shows which school is the dominent one within the state.
  16. Not saying the upper echelon isn't accurate but this isn't a relevent poll - it's just to give fans something to talk about - and that's a good thing. ESPN was discussing how most of these ballots are filled out by ADs or assistant ADs at the schools the coaches don't even bother.
  17. Not saying this is what is going on but it's somewhat fitting: A coach had just been hired for a new position. The outgoing coach who was stepping down met with him privately and presented him with three numbered envelopes. "Open these if you run up against a problem you don't think you can solve," he said. Well, things went along pretty smoothly, but a few games into the season things took a downturn and he was really catching a lot of heat. About at his wit's end, he remembered the envelopes. He went to his drawer and took out the first envelope. The message read, "Blame your predecessor." The new coach subtly and tactfully laid the blame at the feet of the previous coach. Satisfied with his comments, the press and fans responded positively and the problem was soon behind him. The next season the team was again experiencing a slight dip. Having learned from his previous experience, the coach quickly opened the second envelope. The message read, "Reorganize." This he did, and the team rebounded. After several consecutive tough seasons, the team once again fell on difficult times. The coach went to his office, closed the door and opened the third envelope. The message said, "Prepare three envelopes."
  18. Better yet let's save the trolls some time: The cops in Fargo are corrupt and have it in for the FU football team He was lured into the alley and beaten up - he was the victim He wasn't resisting arrest he was dazed and confused from the beating he took It is just a misdeameanor - no worse than exposing yourself to children or falsifying names on a state petition
  19. Yah I didn't mean to say we don't have run-ins - just not on this site's radar.
  20. Interesting UND is not listed as far as I could see.
  21. Ease up Bucko - it's a Sioux Fan site -of course we are going to talk trash when we know there are trolls hanging around to poke. It's just too darn easy to write trashy stuff about FU and your team makes it so easy. Plus this is the place to do it - you are the one that chooses to hover here and correct everything we post. Fan sites are for fun and entertainment.
  22. It's kind of like their need to reference "The Big Three" in reference to SDSU, USD and FU - just a way to diss UND and in no way based in reality. Their national championships are admirable - their willingness to bring in problem players, and how they deal with them, to achieve it and subsequent cost to the program's reputation is what tarnishes them.
  23. Okay you've made your daily point as usual you can leave the basement. Easy to pick and choose your years when it fits your tired argument Yah we know whenever UND beats FU it's because both teams are bad and UND is just the best of the worst 10>1 of course now we know that refers to arrest warrants
