Dum Azzo is such a biased tool. Azzo, mini-Bohl (aka Kolpack) and McFooly are really hard to take, especially for us who live in Fargo.

2024-25 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Look at the 2013-2014 roster, which is just one example. Hak took the team to the Frozen Four and lost a heartbreaker to Minnesota with .06 seconds remaining where the top 3 scorers were sophomore forward Rocco Grimaldi, Michael Parks and Mark MacMillan. Grimaldi was probably the only legitimate 1st line forward on that team. Other notable players were Stephane Pattyn and Connor Gaardner (a walk on). That was not a very talented team, but Hak got them playing well at the end. -

I don't think that there were many that wanted Hak fired, but I certainly was not among them. I was very happy that UND always made it to the Frozen 4 under Hak That is what a program wants, a chance to win it all. His team also improved later in the season. I'm very frustrated by getting swept by Canisius (the first losses to a team from that weak conference), missing the NCAA tournament a few times, constantly losing in the first round of the NCAA tournament, losing destination games to seemingly inferior programs (Penn State and Arizona State) and the fact that Berry has made it to only 1 Frozen Four. I have not called for Berry's head, but I do think he should be on a short leash. You are right that he recruits good to great players, but that will end if results don't follow. We are already losing recruiting battles to Denver because of its recent success, and we have been losing recruiting battles to Michigan, Minnesota, BC and BU for years. The losses to the bigger schools because of NIL money may be inevitable, but losing recruits to Denver, CC and others NCHC schools is a tougher pill to swallow. If Berry can't win any games in the NCAA tourney or get the team to a Frozen 4, there are a lot of former players who have had success coaching in the USHL and elsewhere. -

Hakstol also made it to the Frozen 4 in 7 of 11 seasons and never missed the NCAA tournament. I'm trying not to bash Berry, but Hakstol did way more with less. -

You may be underrating Cody Croal. He is a proven scorer in the USHL and wore a "C" for Muskegon -

Does anyone seriously pay any attention to Dum Azzo?

I agree with you about the campus and Ann Arbor, but Yost is kind of a dump. It is no where close to REA unless you like nostalgia. Yost is like Wrigley Field--it is cool, but very old and not really very nice.

Carson Wentz taking Philly err Indy err DC by storm

This didn't age well. Goff just got a 4 year $212M deal. Where is Carson Wentz? -
I know, and he was a good player. I hate to see a good player get away, coach's kid or not.
-
Why did he commit to UST? He is highly regarded and very big. Did Brad not want to coach his son? Did Bauer not want the pressure of playing for his father?

Always a good business model to let the inmates run the asylum.

Agreed. I like Kunz and he might have a breakout year, but Perron is a special talent that I foresee taking the place of Blake. He will score 20+ goals this year if given the opportunities. -
Hopefully his younger and more talented brother Zeev gets picked high in the NHL draft by a defenseman hungry NHL team and leaves as well!

OTT did not play DET. DET played Montreal and DET beat them in OT.
-
Stutzle's goal had nothing to do with the fate of DET. Detroit was eliminated when PHI pulled its goalie and WAS scored. If the game went to OT and WAS only got one point, DET would have secured the last playoff spot.

Agree. Despite that, North Dakota has had some high end recruits from Minnesota (Boeser, Parise, Oshie, Brock Nelson, Joe Finley, Landon Wilson, Drew Stafford) and non-traditional recruits like Pinto and Boisvert, Jake Sanderson and David Hale.

Is Denver one of the top programs in the country? How many 1st round forwards has it had since 2016? Henrik Borgstrom was the only one and last played in 2017-2018.
