I disagree. It was a good hit and the ref reacted to the fact that he slid into the boards. Some of you have such a dislike for Cooper Moore that you have no objectivity and hope he fails so it advances your narrative -

Playing devil's advocate, UND has benefited from the portal. Westin Michaud, Connor Ford and Chris Jandric were very good and very necessary additions. Calder, Sidorski and Farmer have not been bad, and neither were Driscoll and DeRidder. Other schools have also done very well through the portal, and SCSU's pickup of Anhorn comes to mind. I don't think the portal is necessarily a bad thing, even though I don't like what has happened to Brent Johnson and some others. -
This is spot on. The argument for Michigan is similar to the argument that Minnesota actually has more titles because it won titles before the NCAA was created (and before UND was a hockey program). That is the definition of cherry picking.
-
Omaha is not a bad team. They took 3 out of 4 from Western Michigan and Duluth, split with Denver in Denver, and split with St. Cloud and Alaska at home. They lost 2 early 1 goal games to Niagara at home early and went 1-2-1 against CC, or they might be in the tournament.

I'm not sure why we don't promote you to head coach with your hockey knowledge

Moore is the convenient scapegoat for the keyboard warriors on this site. He is very skilled and would/will be tough to replace.
-
He's a 5th round draft pick. If that happened, that would expedite his transfer since it would show he has not been developed as a defenseman.
-
13 points to 3 points. He is also one of 2 defensemen who can skate the puck out (other being Jandric). Bast stands flat footed so he never can break the puck out leading to a lot of chasing the puck in the defensive zone. Watch Moore hit the portal. He's very talented and it will come back to haunt us.
-
I cannot believe that Bast is playing ahead of Moore, especially after last night. He can't break the puck out, his icing lead to the 1st goal and he contributes nothing offensively.

I agree with this. Unlike most on this board, I like Moore and think he has a lot of upside, particularly offensively. He might be the best returning defenseman unless Frisch returns. The problem I have with sitting Johnson is that he is young and is being given no margin for error while we play a grad transfer that has not been particularly good since the start of the new year. I don't understand the loyalty to Farmer, who is a portal transfer, over a highly drafted, highly sought after recruit who has a lot of upside. I get why Sidorski plays regularly--he has been suprisingly good as the year has gone on, but if he was not playing well, I would prefer to see the coaches play the young guy over a portal transfer. -
Maybe, but UMD was very good with Herter, and WMU has improved greatly since Herter was brought on as an assistant coach.

No, I love blue chip talent and generational talent, both qualities of Jake Sanderson. However, he was clearly ready and the success he will have at the next level will result in more blue chip recruits following his path to UND. That's how it works. I'm not sure fans can appreciate how good he was at UND and how good he will likely be in the NHL. He is arguably the best defenseman to ever play at UND and I was in school when James Patrick played at UND. -

Well, in that case it is a lost opportunity and such a shame. I am sure that had he known you wanted him back for 2 more years, he would have obliged and turned down his opportunity to play a top 4 defenseman role for Ottawa. -

You're not wrong, but at least Bruce Ciskie and Drunk Hockey Guy don't live in either of those places -

What is there to do in Duluth short of getting mugged by a drunken sailor from Superior? Duluth is the equivalent of Siberia, only worse because Drunk Hockey Guy and Bruce Ciskie live there. I can't think of a worse place to live in the country. -

I'm calling BS on this entire conversation about geography. It is no different than it was when UND landed Parise, Toews and Oshie who were all heavily recruited. Last year, Cooley from Pennsylvania was down to U of M and UND, but unfortunately chose U of M. Kent Johnson was down to UND and Michigan, but chose Michigan. Jake Sanderson chose UND. Isaac Howard chose UMD over higher profile schools and Duluth is the butthole capital of America. If you think Grand Forks is bad, try living in Duluth for a winter. UND has the advantage of facilities and getting players to the NHL. That has not changed. If it was about geography, Arizona State would already be a hockey power. Why is Knies at U of M? -
I don't disagree with you, but it is a mixed bag. There have been hits and misses. Conner Ford was a really good pickup last year because UND needed a center that could win faceoffs, and Jandric has been a very nice find, and arguably the best defenseman on the team. I'm not sure that Senden and Hain have hurt UND, although it is debatable whether they have helped. Farmer has been disappointing, but Sidorski is better than I expected. I would also welcome Frisch back and really hope he comes back because they will lose most of the D corps.

I agree. First, Western is going to be top 4 in the league because they have an easier schedule. Thus, we want UMD and Omaha to lose because those are 2 teams that we could realistically catch for home ice. Second, I can't EVER cheer for Duluth. I know Scott Sandelin and like him, but I can't stand Duluth, their fans or their announcers. -
94 penalty minutes, not points last year. He is averaging about a point per game this year, so that is impressive.
