I don't know if we have had as many players turn pro, but we have recently had some good ones playing in the NHL: Jackson Blake, Jake Sanderson, Tyler Kleven, Shane Pinto, JBD, Troy Stecher and Brock Boeser have done well. Tyson Jost has been a little disappointing, but he's still playing in the NHL.

I agree with that assessment, but it is not the only selling point. UND not only has the best facilities in the country, and historically sends a lot of players to the professional ranks, but hockey is by far No. 1 at UND so the players are big fish in a small pond. At the Big schools and BC, hockey takes a back seat to at least football and basketball.

What about Cooley and Knies?

Agree. Western MIchigan won a national championship with 6 portal players and 2 decommitted players (Bump and Hampton) who were arguably their 2 best players.

No. His dad Tim went to Shanley and was a very good baseball player making it to AAA

Yes. He is a great spokesman for college hockey and is a genuinely good guy. He's not a good announcer, but neither was Barry Melrose. He's way more likeable than Barry Melrose.

Playing Devil's Advocate, if they choose Smaby, I assume Chyzyk had something to say about it since he is the coach of the team Chyzyk managed.

I agree with this 100%. I don't know if Smaby is the best guy or not, but he's from Minneapolis, played at SSM, and is coaching in the USHL (plus he played in Europe). We do need some US connections because the US kids are really good. Look at how many USNDT players get drafted in the 1st round. Those are the kids that Michigan, BC, BU and UM have been getting.

I don't know where you are going with this, but Tarek Howard is about as good of a person as you will ever meet. He's a class act and very ethical.

I get that but they both played for UND and Katie is an O’Keefe from Grand Forks where her dad was a former player, announcer, head of fundraising and a loyal UND alumni. Did UND recruit Katie Hale’s son?

Not true. He interviewed for UND head coach job driving up from Fargo during regionals.

I agree and have the same order of preference, except UND's title drought is "only" 9 years since 2016.
