I agree with that assessment, but it is not the only selling point. UND not only has the best facilities in the country, and historically sends a lot of players to the professional ranks, but hockey is by far No. 1 at UND so the players are big fish in a small pond. At the Big schools and BC, hockey takes a back seat to at least football and basketball.

Agree. Western MIchigan won a national championship with 6 portal players and 2 decommitted players (Bump and Hampton) who were arguably their 2 best players.

Yes. He is a great spokesman for college hockey and is a genuinely good guy. He's not a good announcer, but neither was Barry Melrose. He's way more likeable than Barry Melrose.

I agree with this 100%. I don't know if Smaby is the best guy or not, but he's from Minneapolis, played at SSM, and is coaching in the USHL (plus he played in Europe). We do need some US connections because the US kids are really good. Look at how many USNDT players get drafted in the 1st round. Those are the kids that Michigan, BC, BU and UM have been getting.

I don't know where you are going with this, but Tarek Howard is about as good of a person as you will ever meet. He's a class act and very ethical.

I'm not sure I agree. Hunter Johannes was at UND only 1 year and appears to bleed green. I suspect that there are others.
