  1. Then the B10 better get ready to finance their jump from club hockey to D1. Not every school has a donor like Penn State to foot that bill.
  2. A drumroll would probably be helpful too.
  3. Elvis? Bin Laden? Charlie Sheen?
  4. Let the real "fun" begin ...
  5. It's not just oil ... FTFA:
  6. Translated: "Well, isn't that cute?" Surprised they didn't mention the settlement. Then again, maybe that would have been too easy.
  7. Or as we say in the legal biz "Looks like we get to clean up after the elephants."
  8. Considering the NC$$ generally controls the IP licensing for its member schools, I'm still trying to figure that one out ...
  9. Thanks for the link. Yet one more reason why hockey players tend to have more class than other athletes.
  10. Not sure if this was already posted. Nice article about ZPar's recovery. NY Times
  11. I'd be more worried about fleas or mites with Moldy around. A follow-up story ... it keeps getting better. Strib
  12. Too funny. Strib
  13. Good idea, but you still have those who quote this person, and his/her insipid comments keep popping up.
  14. For whatever reason, SCCC has never really struck me as a school that does a good job of maintaining ties to its alums. Killing off homecoming seems like a perfectly asinine approach, even if they can't draw as well as St. John's. Some of the comments after the article are pretty funny though.
  15. The "secondary" market for pre-ban Sioux gear looks like a good retirement bet. Maybe instead of messing with the NC$$, Carlson's bill should mandate that UND/the Board transfer all rights and interest in the Sioux name/logo to the Spirit Lake band and let them use/lose the IP rights accordingly. They'd probably make a killing, at least in the short-term.
  16. It's about time he showed his true intentions.
  17. I think 'su will lose out. Their "horses" tend to have only two legs.
  18. As I recall, the threshold for "use in commerce" is pretty low. Some companies will run ads using old, defunct marks in newspapers to meet it, even if they have no current use for the business name. UND could conceivably do something similar in an ad, or possibly even on a website. I'm sure a few lawyers will be pricing the newest offerings from Audi and Mercedes from this affair.
  19. The University of North Dakota Harmless and Diverse Spirit?
  20. Interesting article on how the NHL salary cap has forced a number of highly paid players into the AHL, with comments by Mike Commodore. WSJ
  21. Heh. I remember when the "M" in MTV actually stood for "Music".
  22. The closest thing I ever saw to that was some drunk at Memorial Stadium trying to do the "chop", but he was pretty much overwhelmed by people telling him to pipe down.
  23. I'm surprised, somewhat, that anybody would be that tone-deaf now considering the issues surrounding the name/logo.
  24. It would have been nice if they had a direct quote from the AG. However, I think the bigger issue would be how to relitigate settled issues, let alone the potential impasse between the Board and any new law that requires them to keep the name/logo. Needless to say, Wayne's mustache will probably grow back a nice gray over this matter.
  25. Interesting that the only reference to college hockey is a backwards "M".
