What did you expect? Roses, effusive expressions of awe and begging for mercy on our part? Most of us deal with fans of other hockey schools, and this crap is pretty light, compared to those wars. Or are you just that wimpy?

They have 'puters in Alabama? Wow, next you'll tell me that the entire population has more than three teeth ... Do you suppose that their visiting fans will wear shoes?

Maybe if you write slower, and use smaller words, you might get an answer.

I agree. Anybody who has a hot clue about Minnesota's hockey program knew damn well that they would start racking up some numbers in the W column again, especially after losing to us and Wisco. The respective returns of Ballard and Harrington helped spark the upperclassmen, and their frosh are starting to find their place. As well, it appears that Briggs has started to make the goalie job his for right now. Granted, Minnie has beaten MTU and a mediocre MSU team, but they have to start winning someplace, and gaining confidence against soft teams is as good place as any. However, beating Michigan *any year* at Yost is a big deal. I vaguely recall that some of our best teams have met their ends there. Rather than worrying about what Lucia and Co. are up to in November, we had better mind our own knitting since we don't even face Minnesota again until the end of January. Moreover, we have some conference series coming up before that rematch where we have to get points and get ready for a run down the home stretch.

The local news and the Strib are reporting that a young woman was abducted in Fertile, MN but managed to escape, after closing a local store. There's no definite link to Dru's disappearnce, but the cops are looking into it. It's pretty f'ing sad when you have to warn people in the smallest of towns to "watch their back" and walk in pairs, etc.

It's one thing if the player wants to sign under the current CBA, it's quite another if the club wants to sign them. I really can't imagine any clubs, especially well run clubs like the Devils, and cash strapped outfits like the Sabres, are going to add more payroll, especially for their first three round choices, if they aren't going to play the season and get some return on their investment. However, it is possible that they may sign, and get dumped immediately into the AHL. But that requires money going out the door too. The higher round prospects may get kind of screwed on this. They only way they can break into the NHL outside of being a draft choice is to play MJ or Euro-league hockey for a year, and then try to make it back as a free agent. This may have some appeal for later round choices, especially guys like Money who may use a year in MJ to increase their skills, and their visibility to NHL clubs.

"Hakstol said Rylan Kaip is a bigger version of Mike Prpich, a tough, gritty kid who can play up the middle or along the wall. He was recently suspended for being involved in a fight." On this day Lord, we give thee thanks ...

It's "Chucko" and he made a visit during the Minnesota series. He still has a few places to look at. Blais seems to be pretty good mixing size and speed. Unfortunately, early departures, injuries, poor performance, etc. can screw up the best recruiting plans. I tend to like bigger forwards in the Prpich-Stafford-Money class, to offset the smaller size of the Parise-Murray types. Makes for more line possibilities, and also creates problems for opposing squads.

I hope for her safe return. Hopefully, some of the regulars here in the GF area volunteered to help search. Afterall, she is one of ours.

I was wearing a black Sioux hockey sweatshirt, no logo, through the Mpls skyways yesterday. I passed by a variety of people of different races, etc., about the only people who gave me a "dirty look" of any sort were white Wellstone-lovers who I would probably offend by eating meat, farting, drinking beer, screwing their daughters and scratching my ass. Oh well. I even walked by a number of people with Minnesota garb and the only reaction was a joking, "We're going to kick your butts in January." Yeah right, pal. We have a lease on Mariucci.

Yep, you can tell SCCC is really "proud" of its NHL playing alums. Remember the INCH tidbit about an SCCC player from the 40s who had had his Blackhawk logo replaced by a husky on their mural? Gotta love it when the PC nazis in White Cloud equate Indians with dogs.

Very impressive road sweep. I was hoping for 2-3 pts, but getting 4 is a great achievement. What I really liked was that scoring/production was more broad-based and didn't rely on the Money-Parise-Murray. More guys seem to be stepping up and working hard for three whole periods. This says alot about the overall leadership and maturity of the team. Solid goaltending overall by Brandt and JParise, and a solid defensive effort too. (Sounds like Bina is quickly finding his role on the squad. ) Great effort, guys. Keep it up, and remember this season should extend into April at the Fleet.

Why, those are fine D1AA schools that fill their stadiums every home game, and all are located in fairly close proximity to the Stream Yellow's homebase too. Yes, I'm sure that Chaps and Co. are just counting the revenues from all the sold out games at the FloodDome as the 'SU faithful elbow each other for tickets to see these well known rivals. There might even be an ESPN, or *gasp* Fox, TV deal in the wings too. Maybe this will be a stepping stone to NC games with Michigan, Notre Dame, Nebraska, etc. Gosh, I wish UND would have this opportunity of a lifetime. /straight face off ... BAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Good replies to CandyAss's whining. However, I am profoundly disappointed that nobody invited Mr. Kaasa to discover his "true self" and wear a dress to the next game. Moreover, I would think that his friends in the LWC would rise to his defense and demand a "standdown" so that his law school colleagues could become more "sensitive" and "understanding" of limp dicked, panty waisted, thin skinned hockey "fans" who have no concept of hockey beyond thinking that a puck matches their pumps. There is "historical precedence" in this regard, shortly after the announcement of "Henry Hamilton Days" ... when the LWC went completely overboard and didn't make their male colleagues chicken pot-pie, strip bars, etcs. But that's another story ... entirely ... Anyway, I would suspect Mr. Kaasa feels better about "enlightening" the rest of you student thugs. I'm sure there was a "celebration" dinner or brunch to memorialize the occasion. I would hope that you treat him accordingly and with the appropriate level of respect at the next home series ...

It's like beer and tequila ... appreciate the differences ...

Thanks for the recap, Pat. It would be nice to have Fylling in Denver, as he would provide good speed and shooting, if the Money line gets mugged. Especially, as it looks like Denver may be thin on D this weekend. BTW: Somebody should call in to Lola's and let Blais know that some of the finest armchair coaches are here working to get the PP going again.
-
Agreed about Parise. If he's on PP, I'd rather have him down low, preferably sitting off to the side. His presence down there might also serve to distract one or more defenders, as well as the goalie. He's too small to plant in front of the goal, unlike Money or Stafford. Money is very strong on the puck and he's good at picking up garbage shots too, so he might draw more than one guy right on him and free up the puck for another shot opportunity. A bigger forward or D-man QBing from the point would help prevent a shortie rush, and serve to plant anybody thinking about carrying the puck out. Prpich has played D and O in Canada, so he would be a good choice for F/D. Jones and/or Schneider could hold the other point.
-
Too much effort. Just tell the little candyass to buy a dress and be himself.
-
One of the things I noticed during the Minnesota series was that the PP unit still spent too much time working the puck in the Minnesota zone, and not enough time taking shots on goal. A "pretty" PP is "nice" but it sucks if it doesn't produce points. I'd rather have a crew of three bigger forwards, maybe Money, Stafford, Prpich, Porter, etc., in there who can go after rebounds in the corners or stand in front of the net, than have them working the blue line. Guys like Schneider and Jones, and maybe Fuher, should bolster the forwards from the blue line and take the shots that pop out toward them, and flatten anybody trying a breakaway. Just shoot the f'ing puck ...

What a freakin' moron. You go to a hockey game, wearing another teams colors, sit in the student section, and not expect to take s**t? Hell, we were ruthless with opposing fans at old REA who sat in/near the student section. However, most of the time, you'd end up drinking with these same guys at Whitey's or Frenchy's. Maybe instead of going to hockey games and honing his writing skills in letters to the editor of the Stupid, he should be studying for finals. God knows, he'll need all the help he can get. If he's that thin-skinned now, he's dead meat in the legal world. Perhaps instead of reading the purported rules of "fan conduct" he should brush up on, "You look wonderful in those pumps, ma'am."

Nice job, Mr. Commodore. As far as Kleinsasser, I've never heard anything around here about him "going Hollywood" and he seems to keep a pretty low profile. Then again, ever since Robert Smith retired, I really don't deal with the Vikings' players any longer.

I believe the AHL clubs are separately run/owned organizations for the most part. However, they are *affiliated* with the NHL clubs for purposes of being a farm team. If there is a strike/lockout, I think there will be a flood of NHL players heading to the AHL, ECHL, UHL, etc., as well as various Euro teams, to collect a paycheck and to stay in some semblance of game shape. This could make it difficult for draft choices to move from MJ or college into the pro ranks at any level. It makes it difficult for college players especially, because if they leave early and can't land a spot on a "pro" team, they can't go back to college. Moreover, I can't imagine too many clubs wanting their top draft choices floating around in the backwater leagues on their dime and not really developing their game, especially if it looks like any work stoppage could go a year or so. I would think most teams would advise their best prospects to sit tight, unless they could virtually guarantee them a spot on their AHL affiliate, but those guys are also fighting for the same spot.

Yep. A club team, but their posters are probably more well-known than the program itself.
