Bowling? Are you kidding me? Bowling's not a sport ... bowling's an excuse to drink beer and wear other peoples' shoes ... Oh wait, I found their coaching staff.

Let's see ... Born in Jamestown, and was raised in GF and Fargo. Went to Fargo South. Went into the army, spent time at Fort Lewis WA, Central America ("advising and training") and later W. Germany before getting out. Went to UND and graduated in '92. Got my law degree from UND in '95, and moved to MSP. Moved to SW Indiana about 3 years ago, and often spend time out west or in NYC for work. May be looking at another job in either Mpls or Denver in the next few months. Miss hockey, the wide open skies and the pheasant hunting found up north.

Which was the point of an earlier post of mine. If you think about it, the Sioux (Dakota, Lakota or Nakota or whatever) really spent a good deal of time getting their asses kicked around. The Pawnee gave them trouble in the south, the Ojibwa/Chippewa in the north and east. And as my late grandfather pointed out when discussing Little Big Horn "The Arapahoe got the land, the Sioux got the glory and the Cheyenne did the fighting." Then you look at what the US Army did to them ... Hell, if the Comanche had moved north, that would have been the end of it. I think if UND changes the name, we should probably go with somebody/something with a better track record of success.

I've always wondered what it's like to go through life as a eunuch. Reading Jensen's stuff makes me very thankful that's not my lot in life. I love perusing the BRIDGES site, it's good for a laugh or three on an otherwise very hectic day.

I Robb Stauber volunteer(?) coached Minnesota's goalies for a number of years, and may still, and I think it helps since most teams tend to leave goalies on their own. I'm surprised UND hasn't taken this tack.

You may have luck suing the cities/towns that use "Sioux" as part of their name, since I doubt they have permission to do so.

Fans of this program go into every season expecting to win every game, and ending up in the Frozen Four. We expect to bring in top-flight talent, and have them perform every game, for a full 60 minutes. It's the way it is, and it's the type of thing that sets better programs apart from the rest. We do not settle for mediocrity, sorry-ass excuses or losing seasons. Leave that to other programs. Most fans of this team are very hockey savvy, and alot of the comments made here and at REA, while they may make you cry, are made with the expectation that we should win every f'ing game played, especially in our own barn. Even if this team had no losses, and was winning by 6 point margins every night, we would still critique the team, the coaches, the ice, the refs, the crowd, etc. Moreover, few things irritate me more than certain posters engaging in the mental masturbation of accusing other fans of being "fair weather" or "bandwagon jumpers" when they express their frustration with this team, engage in debates about certain players or otherwise coach from the couch.

I think the proper term is "unachiever" ... And I agree somebody needs to kickstart these guys or start benching some of these "stars".

Unf***ing believable ...

If something/somebody doesn't get this team moving and playing with a purpose for the rest of the season, I don't think we'll have to worry about too many "early departures" in the spring or summer.

As much as is this is still a month ending in "r", versus one ending in "y" when it really counts., I am not sure what to make of this team. It's brimming with great individuals, who just don't seem to be clicking as a team. Inconsistency seems to be a common factor. I'm not sure if they're still buying into the preseason hype, or whether a lack of leadership (one of my pet themes) has yet to put a fire under their collective a$$es. When I think about it, we've got a bunch of underachievers, most of whom are young and very talented, who need to start playing up to their talent, and not down to the other teams. My .02.

I would never put these people in the same category as most other Christians, especially the Baptists I know. Phelps' people spew is venom and hatred for their own ends.

We've had some of Fred Phelps' "congregation", well actually they're his inbred, extended family, demonstrate at military funerals around here, and various American Legion members, Patriot guard members, and the general public, as well as the police, show up to keep these scumbags away from grieving families. I've seen these so-called "Christians" in action, and their words and actions, while fully protected by the US Constitution and protected by the people they revile, are nothing short of disgusting. I'm pretty confident the local population around the GF area will stand with this family in their time need as well.

I believe this is one of the groups. Linky As well, a number local American Legions and VFWs may also provide some cover from these goofballs.

I've sort of followed Pawlenty's proposal over the past few months, and I don't think he's ever mentioned how he would pay for it. Not only the tuition hit, but also the increased need for facilities, faculty, etc. to cope with any expected influx. Texas did/does the same thing for the top-10% to get around affirmative action issues, and I vaguely recall there being negative impacts felt at smaller institutions that are less prestigious than Texas-Austin and A&M where everybody wants to end up. Overall, I think UND would still be competitive for many of the best Minnesota HS students, but it may have to try harder, and ramp up the scholarship $$$.

And deprive the rest of us of some good laughs? Where's your Christmas spirit?

Kids/students, Renters Insurance may not seem like a big deal, but it's generally pretty cheap (probably less than you spend on beer in a month ), and can help cover things like this, and then some. Anyway, glad nobody was hurt, but it still sucks to be out in the cold this time of year. Good luck to them.

Florida State ... Fully endorsed, and approved, by the NCAA.

More than likely, given its timeframe, most of the Dartmouth student body will be skiing at Stowe or Vail, or spending trust fund money in Palm Springs. Besides, beating the shiat out of spoiled Ivy-leaguers might be a good warmup for the games.
