So the und men's bball team will operate with a profit this season?
-
That sounds like the ncaa is reaching pretty far. How can they manage what a private business does for a promotion? But we all know about them overstepping their bounds I guess:/
-
Lots of turnovers. Tough to believe one of these teams will be playing in the superbowl.
-
Is this a new rule of his? A few years ago I'm pretty sure I saw him out for lunch with 4 players during the season.
-
Maybe he got them from his girlfriend out west?
-
Why can jones now? He's not failed much worse than he has in the past 7 years. It appears faison has his bar set fairly low.
-
F$?! Her in the p$&/?!! Anyone else hear a bison fan during their pregame Saturday say that on kvly! Wow!
-
3 losing seasons? Man I wish my employer would give me 3 years of I failed for that long! In the sales industry a bad month can get you canned!
-
Top college hockey level is correct but ncaa d1 hockey as the number one feeder to the NHL is debatable. Canadian junior hockey produces more nhl'ers than ncaa d1 hockey.
-
Good point! It means nothing. I just find it funny that if ndsu football is supposedly the most relevant athletic team in the state, why do bison fans have to come here to defend their team's honor?
-
I know. I didn't think a bizun fan would be able to figure that one out haha
-
Ok boonie boy how about this one? Ndsu football - 9 guys in the nfl this year - 60 ncaa scholarships - 15% Und hockey - 13 guys in the NHL this year - 18 ncaa scholarships - 72%
-
How many fans did ndsu bring down to the game in vermillion this year? You do realize und brings about 10,000 fans to the past final 5/frozen face off which is just a conference tournament. I don't believe bringing 17,000 to their next national title game would be too far fetched.

http://www.businessinsider.com/odds-college-athletes-become-professionals-2012-2 Here's the link where I got the 2% number. The way I understand it is a little more than 2% of ncaa baseball players end up making it to the mlb. Ok after clicking on a link within this link I learned I was wrong with ith the 2% number. According to the link 12% of NCAA baseball players make it to the pros. Never mind.

Agreed. If there's room for growth at und it isn't the hockey team. There is much more room for growth in men's bball and football and the athletic department should be focusing on growth.
-
In the past 7 years 36% of NHL debuts have come from college hockey. Only 2% of ncaa baseball players make it to mlb. Not a very good comparison.
-
I'm aure toews; oshie, Parise, or any of the other former sioux hockey players raking in millions would disagree with your hockey is a joke statement. Add up the few former bison nfl salaries from this season and do they even exceed what toews is making this year?
-
Don't forget the und hockey games that tsn has picked up!
-
But th bison had 2 games on fox sports one the past 2 years!
-
Note to bison fan on sioux message board- why do you continually come here to defend ndsu's honor if they already have pronounced their relevance with their national exposure?
-
You know someone has a case of little man syndrome when a bison fan registers on a sioux forum and poses as a sioux fan.

I did not mean to come across that way. I do not believe fcs is jv and didn't mean to belittle fcs football in any way. I support the und football team every way I can and I follow them whether they are winning or losing. I'm a und fan. Even though und hasn't played ndsu in football in such a long time I'm excited for the game this fall and I still would consider ndsu a rival. I hope that und can compete and win. But let's be realistic. Und hockey is still a bigger deal than ndsu football?
-
Surprised there ar that many in the nfl from fcs. But we are still talking 43% ncaa d1 hockey to 21% fcs football. I don't really care. The only reason I even brought this up is because we have und fans here belittling the hockey program.
-
There is more football players per team so salaries need be be spread out more. So what? 1 out of 3 NHL players come from ncaa d1 hockey. What percentage of nfl athletes come from fcs?
-
You make a valid point. But The way I see how college hockey vs fcs football has an impact on fans throughout North America can be judged by pro salaries from former players in both sports. At und college hockey alumni or making a lot more of an impact than former football players are. Compare und hockey NHL salaries to ndsu football nfl salaries and it's not even close. If you are trying to say that fcs football makes a bigger impact to most sporting fans nationwide, then why are the former college hockey players reimbursed at such a higher level? This money is ultimately coming from the impact the athlete makes to their fan base. I'm not trying to rip on fcs football. But 1 out of every 3 nhl'ers come from ncaa d1. What percentage of nfl'ers come from fcs? It's not even close and professional athletes relevance is shown by the money they make. If you look at it this way, ncaa d1 hockey is much more relevant in North America than fcs football is.
