  1. I don't understand how a captain can take those kinds of penalties against a team like DU.
  2. Boys playing very well, but you can see how this DU team could turn things around in a hurry.
  3. Is an ACL injury considered as bad in hockey as it is in football? Different body mechanics and all . . . .
  4. You really must be impressed with this Hawks team.
  5. Those Catholics believe that if you can get pregnant you can commit to a college hockey program. You just can't undo your commitment.
  6. He's now fixating on your lack of punctuation after his name.
  7. When they blocked Ray Guy's punt against Oakland, I thought it was going to be their year--nobody blocked Ray Guy. But that good fortune didn't last long.
  8. Their wives had to have been suspicious.
  9. Records don't tell everything, but in Sandy's 18 full years at UMD, he has won 15 or fewer games seven times, less than 20 nine times, and has never won 30 or more. Beginning his fourth year, when the team was all his, he won 15, 11, 13, and 13 the next four years. His career at UMD has a LOT of mediocrity In Berry's three full years, he has won 17, 21, and 34. Not saying Berry is better than or as good as Sandy, but to be calling for his head in only his 4th year with those results is premature, to say the least.
  10. When he leaves the void will be felt immediately. Not to say another person wont step up and do a great job eventually, but Tim has been a gift. And when he was with the other Tim, he was at his absolute best, IMO.
  11. If you are a kid who likes the big campus feel, it's gonna be awful hard to compete, no matter how good UND's program is.
  12. How do those numbers compare with Hak's teams and other teams in the conference? I have not been able to watch the last two weekends, but prior to that they seemed to be maintaining possession pretty well--certainly better than last year. They just don't seem to have the shooters. If that is true, they probably need to get more dirty rebound, tipped and deflected goals off of shots from the point. That is probably how most teams get their 5-4 PP goals. EDIT: I see the numbers compared to other teams this year was posted on another thread.
  13. True. All teams work through injuries, and it always seems like our own are more plentiful and more serious.
  14. Power play hasn't scored, but the movement has been very good.
  15. There you go. That's a big reason why people might choose to stay at home.
  16. Using your veteran status in an attempt to add credibility to your opinion is not much more than false patriotism. My father was awarded the silver star, as I'm sure a number of other posters' family members were, and he NEVER used it as a means to gain credibility on matters of opinion or policy. In fact, he never discussed the war at all. He just served honorably.
  17. Good to hear. Watching can be deceiving sometimes. Wins and losses tend to affect how we see things. If they are possessing the puck well, together with what appears to be a very good D corps, this team might have a pretty high ceiling. The goal tending has been solid. A lot has to happen, of course.
  18. One thing this team has shown it can do which the last two years' teams didn't do much of is maintain possession. It's not a Toews , Schmaltz or even a Kristo doing it--it's just a case of more players having the quickness and hands to make it happen during their shift. There is probably data out there to confirm whether this is true or not, but that's what the eye test seems to show.
  19. I began watching Sioux hockey in the Earl Anderson-Jim Cahoon years, and Waselovich was in net for the last couple of years I was an undergrad. I can't for the life of me remember who was in net before him. Whoever it was would have seen a lot of rubber. For you, Sprig, those were roughly D. Overbo years too, if I recall. Boy had a heater.
  20. If your child, for whom you and your partner are the source of all knowledge, understands at seven that you are wrong on some things, you are parenting well, Wilbur. He will become an expert on the subject before he returns to that place where he understands again how many times you are right or close to it. But you are a goalie and therefore weird, so ordinary rules probably don't apply to you.
  21. Didn't know they were skating 10 freshmen, but seeing how they did have some speed and worked hard, but just couldn't "catch up" to the pace, that makes complete sense. Good point to make at this point in the season.
  22. Miami played hard the whole game, and they have some skaters too. But as Farce pointed out, our position play was excellent.
  23. Really appreciate your efforts on this thread every week, cberkas
  24. What I've noticed is that Berry has figured out how to change from a guy who can't get his players to pass well and play hard for a full 60 to a guy who has his young team playing very well together. He must have read a bunch of books in the last three weeks.
  25. Young Shaw was right about this defense. It really has potential. Good skaters.
