I remembered it as well, as funny as it was. Youthful enthusiasm. It's actually disappointing that Miami hasn't been more competitive. It's already the best conference in the country, but the more top tier teams better. We're privileged to be able to watch the best teams play on a regular basis, and that includes us.

I still like the energy and speed Bowen brings.
-
Pretty much sums it up
-
Holy water.
-
That gives us hope, at least.

Which 6 does your effort show we need to win. A W against CC has less value than a W against UMD. Does a W against UNO have any value at all? (outside conference ranking)

A lot will disagree, but this team was not far off. They beat the top ranked teams it the country. Problem is they tend to play down and lose to teams they need to beat. I think there is a player leadership void. And I have nothing to back that up.

No kidding. Wilbur rushed it, and now he’s lucky to have a 80% save percentage in beer league

It has noble bloodlines, having been created by R.W. Emerson, Oliver Wendell Holmes, and others. But it is political and always has been, so maybe we keep it out of a good hockey discussion. Partly my fault.

The Atlantic Monthly is a good publication, IMO. Except to the extent it fails to cover UND hockey, of course.

How do you know with just a four year history?

Thx Hovey

What a great defenseman Zach Jones was. Not a lot of flash, but just a rock inside the zone. The prototype D-man has changed so much from even 15 years ago. In B' ball, it's the guy 6"6" who can run the floor and go to the basket. In F'ball it's the guy who's linebacker size who can rush the passer and cover. In hockey, it's the D man with speed who can move the puck. Size helps, but not the focus it once was, with the reduction of hitting in the game. Our D corps now is really good, but it doesn't look like the D corps of 15 years ago. Now, Sic or MM, you guys can come along, cite some numbers, and show just how clueless burd is. But I'm standing with this angle no matter what.

That was my guess too.

Yeah, it's really nice to get input from sources that are knowledgeable but more dispassionate. Some of us are neither, including burd.

Did the system hold them back the year they won the banner?
-
Scheel has really been solid.
-
I wish our guys would spend more energy beating guys to pucks and worry less about finishing checks after the other guy gets the puck and dishes it off.
-
Now, that was just clean fun.

I'm sure the proof is in the statistics, but team discipline under this staff has been just as good if not better than it was under Hak. But the captains have to be leaders in good judgment . . .
-
What a foursome: Boeser, Jost, Stecher, and gfhockey
-
That's probably true. One thing that doesn't get mentioned much is a coach's ability to develop leaders. Sometimes leaders just come along, like JT. But other times, they have to be cultivated, IMO. This team does not seem to have a natural leader.

Imagine if there had been an internet in Rube's last years.
