We all knew this team would win by committee, and that is what we have seen, win or lose--mostly win. Hopefully, there's a Caggula or Frattin among them. They played well in the third, so that says something. No guarantee they will turn the corner into a contender, but I'm gonna withhold judgment until I see more hockey. They can play defense, and that could be a big deal, come March. Right now, my goal for them would be to win enough games to make the tourney and develop a team that can beat Denver in March. But I don't know half as much about hockey as most of the posters here (and that's no secret), so I'll just hold on and enjoy the ride.

I think every fan base tends to overestimate how seriously other fan bases take them. But it's kind of like paranoia: Just because we might overestimate how important we are, doesn't mean we aren't dam important.

It's good to see CC back in the conversation. Loved the game they used to play, as Godsmack described: fast, skilled, uptempo. Should be a great series. But please, no floating tiger heads!!

Has it been discussed here whether the rivalry void and fewer games with UMinn (and UW) has led to fewer high end recruits from Minnesota? Is that a dumbazz question?

That's a good point. I thought it was a bad call, but I'm sure that's what they were thinking, and it makes sense. Despite not controlling play the way we did Friday, were were getting pucks on net, and I think we still would have won with only a minor on that play. Doesn't matter, though. You play the hand you're dealt.

That's the way I saw it too. Just unfortunate that it proved to be a 3-goal stretch, though I think the first goal would have fallen within the 2 minute minor, wouldn't it? And I get those who read the rule by the letter and conclude the ref had no choice. Just looked like the wrong call to me. But given the way the gophs like to go down all the time, can't say they didn't have a bad call coming. Wish we played them more.

UND dominated more Friday than they did Sat 5x5. I'd say UM probably had the edge Sat 5x5. But yeah, a nice win. It looked to me that the biggest difference in the two nights, other than the 3-goal major, was the way we found shooting lanes from the point. I'm sure they talked about being smarter and more patient after Friday, and it showed.

Our base would be screaming about that call. I"ll take it though.

that's what's strange about being a fan and not a player. They probably played better last night--just got some breaks tonight. Different outcome but there was a lot to feel good about after last night's game.

You could tell the boys were coached on being more patient to pick their shot lanes from the blue line tonight. Huge difference.

this squad put up a very good effort against a talented team, and they could have won with a bounce or two. We knew they would have to win with hustle and team contribution, and that's just what we saw. Given who is on the roster, I was pleased. A of hockey ahead. Real anxious to see if we can carry this much play against Cloud and Denver. And score, of course.
