Maybe it's just loyalty, but doesn't Wilbur deserve some consideration in net? He didn't make it to the next level, but he's as offensive as he!!. Plus, we need a Minoter, and neither of the Morellis are on this team yet.
-
I had thought about Cahoon earlier. Class act as a person and fine captain. From that era, Alan Hangsleben has to be in the mix for defensemen. Big hitter in a more physical era with a huge offensive upside. Played with the Whalers, I believe.

I'm here to tell you those people are under cover everywhere. gfhockey is Don Adam (or his grandson--don't remember which).
-
And I'll bet he is playing defense as well.

North Dakota vs. Union (Thanksgiving Edition)
burd replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Men's Hockey
That Union team was REALLY good. The title game was more of a beatdown than a game. That it happened to UMinn made it pretty sweet for us NoDaks.- 31 replies

I had some of those thoughts as well. From the team's perspective, the story here is that the whole mess could all have been avoided if he'd played smart. Not even real smart: average smart.
-
Looks to me like it was an easy call on the minor and a dumb call on the major. In either case, Smith was playing extremely dumb hockey to put his team a man down (for even two minutes) against that power play. Can't control the refs, but you can control yourself.
-
yeah. I tend to look at his situation and think we were lucky to get him for one, rather than regret we did not get him for two.
-
Greg Johnson cannot be left off this team.
-
That's right. There are bad calls in every sport at every level of play. Learning to deal with them without letting it affect your play is part of the process for everybody. Some do it well, some do not. When I had kids in youth sports, you could just watch how parents reacted in the stands and figure out which players would be able to deal with bad calls without letting them affect the team. We have good kids, and good coaches. They will learn from this and put it behind them rather than hold on to it.
-
It will be interesting to see what the coaches have planned this period. Denver controlled play quite a bit that period.
-
Maybe so, but it did not cost us a goal. Unless you consider what might have happened during the balance of the major.
-
Boy we haven't won many puck battles on the boards.
-
He's been critical to my enjoyment of Sioux hockey over the years
-
they got the goal in the first two minutes, so the major did not cost us a goal. Actually do not regret Smith being off the ice if he's going to keep putting us on the PK.
-
Legit two, but not major. But it is what it is. time to play hockey and stay the f out of the box.
-
Looked that way to me too. He just needs to use his head a little more. He's been in the box way too much this weekend against the third best PP in the country.
-
The first interference call was questionable. The DU announcers aren't bytching about it, though.

Well, sounds kind of like my life, and at my age I'm fading fast by 9:00
-
Monty should be in a doghouse of his own, the way he has let his emotions control his behavior in front of his team.
-
Sundowning, Sic?
-
The announcers speculated that it was the faceoff thing, I believe.
-
this game was a confidence builder for the team and a reminder to us fans.
-
that's why it's often unfair they way we fans are quick to say they don't care or aren't working hard when things aren't going well on the ice. North Dakota players are known for their work ethic and team play.

Good point. Given the way Sioux fans travel, I wonder if we have ever influenced opponents' recruits in in their' own barns. Be interesting if any of our players or committed recruits ever noticed that when they were visiting another program.
