There's not much Dishboy can laugh about in his own house.

You mean a couple weeks ago when Sagard was calling Hak and trying to get him to talk about unsigned recruits?

To expand on the above: In the first 7 games Miller 0-1-1 Wheeler 5-4-9 In the last 9 games (Miller's played in 8) Miller *3-6-9 Wheeler 4-5-9 So far for the year Miller 11-13-24 3rd on team in scoring Wheeler 14-18-32 1st on team in scoring *In addition to these official stats, Miller scored a goal in a shootout

Yes, you are right. I think when the puck hits the post the goalies says "well, I had it covered." No doubt. All I'm saying is, we generated the chances and were very very close to adding another 30% to our goals scored on the weekend.

After a slow start to the season where Miller spotted the gopher wunderkind about an 8 point lead he's stayed with him pretty well pointswise. Neither of them are lighting up the league, so it remains to be seen if both are just not performing at a high level or if other factors are keeping their points numbers at a lower level. Miller is likely not the same level prospect of a Wheeler, but for this year playing on the same team their production is not terribly different once you throw out the first several games.

RIGHT! Mannino has a 92% saves percentage and Fischer an 89%. Both these guys might not give up another goal all year. In fact, I've heard they both may sign pro contracts right after the weekend, they're going to be so good. "The Great Wall of China". That's what they call Denver's goaltending corp.

What if Zajac's 2 posts and Massen's 1 post all went in? What would we be saying if they'd have won these games 4-3 and 5-1 this weekend? It's not an offensive explosion, but that would be a little better, wouldn't it? They're close. Yes, they didn't get the pucks in the net. Inches DO count in hockey. I'm looking at the bright side. I have no idea what to expect this weekend. I wish all our guys were available.

This is different than gopher fans ripping on Virg Foss how?

Even though Kozek is up there at the top, I'm concerned with his recent slump. Hopefully he can pick it up again. A poster on the USHL board says Kozek is playing selfishly right now. Not passing the puck on 2 on 1's, etc. If that is true, hopefully that's just an indication of his frustration in his scoring slump, and not a character flaw. The goal he picked up Sunday was his first in 6 games. Hopefully he's working himself out of a slump. In the meantime, he's picked up several assists so hopefully the poster mentioned above is off base.

I agree, PCM. However, I was really hoping to see an offensive rejuvenation this weekend and it didn't materialize. I'm already on record with some optimistic observations about what could happen if the Sioux dominate down the stretch like we know/hope they can. However, right now Duluth went into CC and took 3 of 4 and into MN and got a split. They've played 3 very good games out of 4 on the road. Duluth has a bit more difficult schedule than the Sioux do, but it's conceivable Dubay could be right, and I hate to think it could happen. Just have to win games. It will all take care of itself. I'm happy to see our freshmen forwards and still hanging in there as the season gets long, and that Radke seems to be catching up. Could be a good thing in the end.

Yes, I'm giving a personal opinion based on things I've picked up over time, some which would come from "official observers" like message board posters!

Reaney is older than most of the big time prospects. I think last year guys like Kyle Greentree that won the BCHL scoring race got to go to places like Alaska Fairbanks. Why? Because they might have dominated at the junior level but may have had a deficiency that could hamper them at a higher level of competition. I remember reading that some of those older, big time scorers had weaknesses with skating, etc that could really hurt their ability to be effective at a D1 level. If the Sioux are reluctant to offer a kid who's scoring at a high pace, my guess is it has to do with a weakness in his game, or attitude. I don't know anything about Reaney, so I'm not making any judgements on him. But there's usually a reason a guy is already 20 years old and no one's knocking his door down.

BCHL update: Duncan is 3rd in the scoring race but is now the goal scoring leader. Kozek is still 2nd overall in scoring and 2nd to Duncan in goal scoring. The other side of the story, however, is that Kozek's hot start has cooled off. He hasn't had a goal in half a dozen games, and quite frankly has been relatively quiet the last 10-15. Watkins has probably been the most consistent scorer of the trio, and is currently 10th overall in points and 10th in goal scoring.

Didn't get to listen to the last couple periods. Glad to see the guys overcame. Way to go Kyle!

Tim says the puck is bouncing all over. Zajac to Spirko who just misses.
-
Massen shoots and misses, Smaby holds it in. Beavers ice it. Another good shift for the Sioux.
-
Canady Fabian and ? playing very physical
-
Zajac with a great pass and Spirko buries the puck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goal waved off for the Sioux! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Big flurry by the Sioux. Sounds like we had plenty of guys crashing the net. Puck directed in by a skate apparently.
