  1. I believe I get credit for the great first half of the 3rd period. I went down to watch a little History Channel during the period break, and figured there was no hurry in getting back up. Just as I get up I hear the Prpich goal call. Now Murray scores. I guess I won't have to go away again to save the game.
  2. True. But it's tough to take. Earlier in the period the Sioux were all over them. Then AA gets a goal, gets the MO, and it's all uphill.
  3. AA is ALL over the Sioux. Penalty on the Sioux. BTW, if I have to listen to opposing announcers, this guy is all right.
  4. One thing.....Parise is VERY capable of committing a holding penalty away from the goal.
  5. I was encouraged when the Sioux didn't give up a goal right after their first goal. Even more encouraged when they scored to go up ahead.....and then....the answer. Very discouraging. Now down a goal, the guys better dig deep. I'm tired of the Sioux giving up 3 and 4 goals to teams that only put up 15-18 shots a game. Stop the puck. Sioux back at full strength.
  6. If anyone is watching on Dataflix give a shout out as soon as possible on the quality of the broadcast. I may have to try it out tonite if it's good.
  7. Wasn't there a post somewhere on here recently that after showing a disputed goal Blais gave the "use your head" sign to the replay guy? I took that to mean that Blais didn't want some close calls up on replay in case the ref blew a call in UND's favor and would later want to make up for it. I don't know. Just the way I took it.
  8. Not saying that. Regardless of how they are enforcing rules in college, I'll take Zajac over Chucko. I think Zajac is a more skilled, better player, but maybe Chucko fits into the more physical pro style of play. Just my opinion.
  9. If my memory is correct, there was talk that he could have gone straight to the NHL from high school. He was an outstanding player, and huge. Something like 6 feet and some odd inches and in the 240# neighborhood. That 1987 team was awfully good. With big George on the team, it could have been scary.
  10. I like having replay to tell if a puck went in the net. The net is obstructed view almost from every angle. I wouldn't want to be checking every little call, icing, offsides, etc with replay. Just if the puck went in the net, and to clear up if it was kicked in, or if a player was in the crease obstructing the goalie. That type stuff is worthwhile. It's hard enough to score.

  12. A little note from Hockey's Future:
  13. Watkins with a goal and an assist and 1st Star of the game last night. Duncan is now the leading goal scorer in the BCHL and Kozek is second. They rank 2nd and 3rd respectively in overall scoring. Watkins in 13th overall.
  14. IMO the indian head logo is too busy for a football helmet. Football helmuts need very simple adornments, like the Viking's horn, the Dallas Cowboy's star, the Philly Eagle's wings, etc.
  15. Cinderella rocked. I don't care if they take the fighting out of hockey. If they speed the game up and put the guys on a bigger sheet of ice (I know, ain't going to happen), the goons would be exposed as liabilities on the ice. I'd rather see Jason Blake and Keith Ballard go at it anyway, rather than 2 big meatheads that are on the ice only for that purpose.

First off there's 2 seniors and 1 sophomore on that line. Canady and Massen have not produced, and Canady is still taking bad penalties. I believe both these guys work very hard out there, especially Canady. However, I see no compelling reason that any of these should play above Bina. Personally, I think we've got 4 guys who could take those 3 spots. Just who should it be? I'm still tempted to put Massen on the ice because I believe if he should get an open shot he could still pot the puck. Canady hasn't shown much scoring prowess. Fabian busts his butt out there and I think he also makes things happen. I know some would sit Massen but I'd probably play Fabian, Massen and Bina, and if one of them falters play Canady the next game.
  17. Strange weather we're having but I'm picking up another skipping signal. However, some sort of ethereal shift must be going on as it appears some other dimension has leaked into ours. Anyway, apparently Dean Blais is still the coach. I took copious notes and now I share them all with you: Live, from the Restaurant at the End of the Universe, is the coaches show with Dean Blais hosted by Tim Hennessey. TH: Coach, I'd guess where you are right now isn't where you hoped you might be at this time of the year. DB: Well, Tim, if I may....."ARE YOU KIDDING ME?"! Starting out the year we thought we had a chance to take a kick at the can at the end and now we're trying to hang on to home ice. TH: The goals just aren't coming the way you'd hope. DB: Well exactly Tim. We've got some guys who are about to finish up who could feel a whole lot different about their career depending on how they decide to finish. TH: You look to your seniors to lead the team. DB: Well yeah. Sometimes, though, guys know they aren't going to play pro hockey and it's about over for them, and the season isn't going so well, so they figure "what the hey". That's not the attitude that will help the team. TH: Minnesota is struggling to score too. DB: (laughing) Maybe Ryan Potulny does realize he made a mistake. TH: Your guys aren't taking the penalties they took earlier in the year. DB: I don't know that we're playing any different but finally they're letting the guys play. For crying out loud they were putting us down 2 guys the whole first half of the year just because we had big physical defensemen. I don't know if they were watching a hockey game or basketball. TH: Speaking of basketball, how has it worked out to have basketball in the hockey facility? DB: Well you just can't get good ice, Tim. I talked to Denny before the Bemidji series and he was afraid to take the Zamboni on it. The ice reminds me of last year at Mariucci. Lets take some calls: Caller: Coach, why is the team struggling to score goals? DB: I don't know if anyone watched the AHL All-Star game but I think you saw the answer to that. That, and every goalie we face is giving us his A game. Sooner or later we're going to get the bounces and someone is going to be sorry. Caller: I saw this Kessler kid who played for the US world junior team isn't signed with anyone yet. Are you going after this kid? DB: Sagard, Phil Kessel is an excellent player, and we'd love to have him on our team if he wants to come. Caller: Your goalies started out strong but have really tailed off lately. Have you thought of hiring a goalie coach to work with these guys like Stauber at Minnesota? DB: I've got your goalie coach right here. Caller: Coach, I had this bad dream that you had resigned and Dave Hakstol put his name in to replace you. Say it isn't so! DB: I've always told Dave that if he works hard, good things will happen.
  18. Pretty impressive to have 3 Sioux recruits in the MN Mr. Hockey nominees: Pioneer Press Article
  19. That's a hobby, though, not a sport.
  20. This is basically what you are describing, and it's what I've been thinking of for quite some time. I like the 81-82 era jersey. Throw the new logo on there, maybe the laced neck. If there's a political issue with the crossed tomahawks put the ND on the shoulders instead or even leave them blank. Simple is better, IMO. Jerseys
  21. That really hit me last night. Our top 2 forwards last year played SIGNIFICANT roles in the AHL ALL-STAR game as ROOKIES. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? These all-star teams were filled with guys that could have been in the NHL if it had operated this season.
  22. No caps at most Final Five games too.
