I'm curious....did MN have a coaching change over the summer? Right. Didn't think so. Now, let's look at the guys who we generally think are performing to or exceeding expectations. Seems like the prevailing attitude is we're pretty happy with our freshmen. They are Hak's first class where he's the head coach. Most of our angst seems focused on the upper classmen, guys that were used to Blais as the coach. Hypothetically speaking, what if these upper classmen aren't responding to Hak the way they did with Blais? Of course, that would be overlooking the past few years where the "lack of intensity", "we didn't get the bounces", "we ran into a hot goaltender" was used too often IMO. Certainly, in this hypothetical situation, Hak can be held to some account that he's not getting some comfortable players ready to play each night. Can't argue that. But if his freshmen are responding to him in this manner, what happens if next year's class responds as well as this year? How much credit should Hak get then? I don't know what the issues are. I don't know if it's coaching, or talent, or what. I'm willing to see how this plays out in the long run. I'm not any more happy with the way things are going right now than anyone else. But I'm not yet ready to lay sole blame on Hak, either.

I remember fairly well many MN fans earlier this season saying there is no additional pressure to be ranked #1 because everyone guns for the gophers anyway. In reading that board today it appears there are many who would not agree with the earlier sentiment.
-
I remember that too.

This is what I like about the quote McMahon had last fall in the paper. He basically said who cares if you have chances, you have to put the puck in the net. You have to get the job done, not just do it well enough to get done.

Sagard, that was my thought too when I heard about this. If Hagemo is that banged up he shouldn't have been used on Friday night. Maybe Hagemo didn't tell Sandelin how poorly he was feeling. How many guys would want to sit out of that tourney? Greyeagle, from the replay I saw on tv Chuck definitely deserved a dq. Overall I will say that Chucko is the kind of player you like to have on your team but hate to play against. Except, as you say, for hits like this that are over the line. From a small amount I've seen of Chucko he seems to be much like Prpich in attitude. A little chippy, a little edgy, a little after the whistle.

Chucko is continuing the physical and occasional cheap play he brought with him from the BCHL. Last year he crosschecked a guy in the face and knocked out some teeth if I remember. Tonite he dang near killed #21 for CC. I remember Gopher fans ripping Notermann for a less physical, yet similar hit. In watching Chucko in a few games this year he definitely has an edge to his game. He likes to use his stick and play rough. I expect his profile will grow with time in the league. Hits like tonite's will draw the attention of the refs in the future. Surprised to see MN get swept at home. When was the last time that happened? We're going to be going into a hornets nest next weekend. Let's hope we can steal one. I think that would be a successful weekend. CC has strong goaltending, and good offensive players that can really handle the puck. Let's see what we're made of. Meanwhile, a scrappy Mankato squad gets two with MN. MN generally doesn't have "slumps" so I would expect next weekend they will be wanting to erase the memory of this weekend. Good luck to the Mavs.

CC is an awfully good team, but my memory says the Sioux have usually played pretty well in Colorado Springs. With luck we'll be able to pull a split and if so I'll be happy.
-
Mav's score with 3 seconds left. THAT HURTS.
-
Whoops. I mean DREW STAFFORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3-3 !!
-
And I think David Lundblom is just the guy to score it!
-
This feels like the time in the game where you say whoever scores the next goal wins.
-
Parise goes way out to play the puck. Unfortunately, right onto a MAV stick... Mav's take a holding penalty. Let's get it tied up again, boys.
-
Strong forecheck by the good guys. Mankato ices the puck. Keep it up!
-
BTW, for years we couldn't score on the PP. The last 4 games it's the only way we can score.
-
WAY TO GO SPARKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Interference. PP for the good guys. Let's get one right back, fellas.

Briggs has been excellent this year. He's half of the reason MN is where they are. IMO Potulny's hot start is responsible for 1/4 of it, and the strong play of freshmen defensemen the other 1/4. Otherwise MN's normally hot offense isn't carrying them as it has in the past other than their big line.
-
geez, how do we give up a 2-1 on a 5-3 pp? Sioux take a penalty to break it up. still 4x3 for 29 seconds
-
Redwing, if I heard the same open net miss I think McMahon was clearing that from his own end, so I don't think that's quite so bad. Good win for the Sioux. The PP was about 30%. We'll take that! Sioux put a lot of shots on the opponent. That's good. Lammy played well. That's good Defense limited a tough Mankato team to 20 shots. That's good. Lots of good in this game. Just gotta get a couple more by the goalie. Let's finish the sweep tomorrow boys!

I think in many recruits families the parents are part of the decision. I don't think her comments are all that concerning. As for the following quote, I was criticized for alluding to something similar regarding NCAA players:

:20 to go Sioux clear!!!!!! :13 to go Shot blocked Sioux clear SIOUX WIN!!!!
