I remember the game is on and turn on the tube. Right off the announcer mentions Parise's name so I look and there's the familiar skating style. He backhands a pass and I think how familiar that is. Then a teammate roofs it right past the goalie. I haven't had the game on for 10 seconds. I wonder if the guy that scored on that wicked wrist shot was Bo. Yep. It was awesome. Parise picks up a loose puck in the slot and blindly backhands a puck. Bo chops the puck out of the air knee hi where it lands right in front of him. He takes a 1/4 turn and roofs the puck from 10 feet out. The goalie never stood a chance because he had no idea where Bo was going with the puck. Bo shot a laser. Bo took the faceoff right down and got another decent shot on goal, and Parise set up Dustin Brown for another chance, and Parise got a shot on goal, all on the same shift. My soul aches...

Seems like the Sioux have too much experience with that.

Thanks, I'll do that! We've taken enough abuse from gopher fans the last few years.
-
Lucia seems to have taken a page out of Blais book what with the goalie merry-go-round. Wonder how some of those gopher fans who ripped Blais for how he handled his goalies are accepting Lucia's recent decisions. ouch

I think it's good for the fan experience to have boards like these. POI was great for message boards but I thought from the get go the GPL site was a better site all around. Now gopher fandom can be concentrated into one location. Not all bad.

How unfair that MN gives up an important goal on a missed penalty call that took one of their guys out of the play. Sprig, good one! Over the last 4 years I don't want to think of the number of times coaches or players in the Sioux program have talked about getting the opposing goalie's A game. It's rather comforting to see it happen to someone else, especially a gopher team that in recent history has not suffered that same problem. I seem to remember a game (Mankato?) in recent years very similar to last night's gopher-AA game where the Sioux put up 50 or so shots and lost. That hurts.

MafiaMan, if the Sioux take care of business and make the final five, it looks like a decent chance you'll be wearing that gopher jersey on Thursday night to a Sioux-gopher tilt.

Duncan has not overtaken Kozek for 2nd place overall in BCHL scoring. He's on a tear with 8-4-12 in his last 6 games. Kozek is 5-1-6 in his last 6

The only problem with SCSU beating CC is that it sounds as if Dahl may be on the hotseat. There's been at least on recent article in the St. Cloud paper where Dahl is having to defend himself. I think replacing Dahl with a good coach is good for the WCHA, and having a good coach that close to the cities might make things a little harder for Lucia with some cities area recruits.

I had to vote for forecheck after one of her very "powerful" arguments.

I was so happy for AA that there was only a few seconds left after that travesty. If MN had got that goal with a minute left it wouldn't have been good. AA didn't deserve to have a call like that cost them any points.

I knew I put that here someplace.....(looking around)

I realize this probably belongs in the community section but I suggest more people will see it here so this is where I will post it. It can be moved if necessary. The main gopher board, POI, apparently suspended operation today suddenly. The people who ran the board apparently decided they'd had enough and quit. I've sometimes wondered what would happen if the people who run Sioux Sports ever decided that same? I believe this work is done through their own passion, with no recompense for their time and effort, all for our free enjoyment. What a hole in my fan experience it would leave. This is an outstanding board and while I haven't seen many other team boards out there, I believe it would be hard to top this one. So.... STAND UP AND CHEER for the people who put this out here for us every day. Thanks very much. Dan

My choice was Hrkac who only played 2 years as well. But what a 2 years that was.

Due to cloud cover I was surprisingly able to pick up the coaches show down here in Mpls. The signal must have been skipping.... (Insert the standard intro here) TH: I've never seen a team so snakebit before. How many pipes did we hit this weekend? Are you kidding me? DH: You've got to keep working hard and you'll get your breaks. TH: Denver got away with the clutch and hook and grab all weekend. Just like the old days. What happened to the new points of emphasis? DH: You've got to keep working hard and play through that. TH: I talked to one of the players after the game on Saturday and he was pretty frustrated with the scoring slump. DH: You've got to keep working hard, keep shooting the puck, and you'll make your breaks. TH: What do you tell the guys to help them get through a period like this? DH: We tell them to keep working hard, keep shooting the puck, and not get down. TH: We've got a talented recruiting class coming in next year. DH: They're all hard workers and good players. TH: Let's take some calls. Caller: You've only pulled the goalie a couple of times this year. Blais used to pull the goalie every other period. Is this why your team is underperforming? DH: We've got 3 good goalies who are capable of playing. Caller: You suck. You've ruined this team. The Bison club team could beat you. DH: Sometimes things don't go the way you want. The team is still working hard. By the way, Dean isn't coming back. Caller: What are your chances of landing this Kessel kid? I hear the gophers are taking a look at him. DH: NCAA rules prevent me from commenting on recruits, Sagard. TH: These interviews were a lot more fun when Dean Blais was sitting across the table. DH: I always told Dean to keep working hard, that he'll get his chances.

same story here. broomball would be fun. I'm dangerous on skates, but not in the right ways.

More people would read your posts if you weren't touting your own articles all the time.

Shouldn't have to choose just one. I had to go with Hrkac. NO ONE I've seen in D1 hockey compares to this guy offensively. Plus, The Hrkac Circus is the coolest nickname.

For what it is worth, here's some info on the last 2 guys who led the regular season in scoring in the BCHL. Both are at Alaska-Fairbanks: Kyle Greentree, 2003-04 BCHL regular season scoring leader Birthday 11/15/83 entered college at 20 yrs old, turned 21 in November 2003-04 BCHL scoring stats = 62-53-115 = 1.9 goals per game 2004-05 AF scoring stats 7-12-19 in 24 games Curt Fraser, 2002-03 BCHL regular season scoring leader Birthday 4/4/82 entered college at 21 yrs old (as a sophomore is assistant captain) 2002-03 BCHL scoring stats = 53-52-105 = 1.75 ppg 2003-04 AF scoring stats = 12-12-24 in 36 games 2004-05 AF scoring stats = 8-9-17 in 24 games For comparison: Travis Zajac, 2003-04 BCHL runner up in scoring Birthday 5/13/85 entered college at 19. Won't turn 20 until after first season. 2003-04 BCHL scoring stats = 43-69-112 = 1.9 ppg 2004-05 Sioux scoring stats = 12-12-24 in 30 games

I'm selfish. I care most about the hockey program. I want a strong hockey advocate in this position.

That's sad news. My condolences as well.

While it's relevant to look at BC and Denver, compare their losses with UND's as an example of teams that have overcome their losses, the point of this post was to show that indeed other good teams with similar or fewer losses than UND's are struggling just as well. UND isn't the only program frustrated with where they're at, who had higher expectations. Wasn't Maine #1 in the country at the beginning of the year? For that reason the visitor is out of place in this thread, and effectively KO'd with a well timed haymaker by jk.
