According to Fox Sports North website the games WILL be on this weekend for those of us with cable. Fox Sports North Programming Ok, now I'm confused. I can't find the Gophers-Huskies series except on Fox College Sports Central (whatever that is). Gophers-Huskies Investigating further, I really have no idea if this game can be seen on FSN in Minneapolis. The Fox Sports website lists Badger sports for their Fox Sports North region, but in Minneapolis they must throw in the Gopher programming. That means I don't have any way to know if the Sioux game will be on or not. I'd delete this thread but apparently I can't. So my confusion is now public for all to laugh at.

Supertrex, you make many good points. I agree with you. On Hak, the only thing I'll say is that Hak didn't design the search process. I don't think we should hold him accountable for a process he didn't design. Hak should be as accountable as any other coach who could have been hired. If John Marks or Steve Johnson was selected and the team was in the same position today, would we be calling for their head? If so, then our reaction to Hak is justified. If not, then we are holding Hak to a different standard based solely on how he was hired. And how he was hired is not his fault. Roger Thomas should be accountable for that, and he's on his way out the back door. Only other thing I would have to say is this: Likely the new AD is going to want to be in place for a while before making any decisions on coaches, etc. Even if we think Hak's not the right coach, I can't see anything happening before a year or 2 anyway as the new AD evaluates the whole situation. I'm still a supporter of Hak as I see the younger players doing well, responding well, and contributing. I see Blais' guys not holding up. Hak's got a very good class coming next year and a decent start for '06. Add to that no change in coaching for a while anyway and I'm just not going to get into the worrying about whether we have the right coach right now. Hak will prove over the next year or 2 if he's the guy.

Taz, that's one of my all-time favorites and you bring it up at the right time. I needed to see that again.

Remember the Maine!

It is mine. I just couldn't afford Kessel.

We're all making assumptions here.

I was thinking the same thing. Grandchild of Cal and going to MN?

I agree with the sentiment of your post, so maybe I shouldn't add my 2 cents. My opinion is the BCHL is the second best place to look for talent as I think the USHL plays a better overall game (the BCHL being a very offensive oriented league). But I only get this from reading these boards and comparing statistics between the leagues and the odd comment from a player who's played in either league, so I admit that is just my own opinion. And there's NO doubt that just as great players can come out of the BCHL as the USHL. Secondly, I don't know if any of our good BCHL recruits are of Zajac's quality. Travis was a first round draft choice. Not sure any of these guys possess that level of talent/potential, but maybe they do. They don't possess his size, so they could be skilled, I suppose, just not big enough to attract the pro scouts as much. Anyway, the only reason I split these hairs is I don't want to see people have unachievable expectations for these players next year. If they come in as the next Sparkys I'll be so very pleased. I just don't want to overbuild their hype. And maybe Spirko IS the better comparison for them. If they can do what he's done this year, we'll be having a good time next year! Thirdly, don't forget Toews is going to be, what, 17 next year? That'll be awfully young to be playing with the big boys in D1 hockey. We'll see how much he can contribute right away. Anyway, still, it's a recruiting class that looks to be very good, with a lot of skilled players. And that DOES make me very optimistic for the future.

What this year is reminding me of is 2001-02 when every coming weekend I was hoping this was going to be the weekend the team worked out of their funk to no avail, all to the bitter end. I was in denial that this year would work out the same way until last night. I just see little reason for hope at this point. Losing to an undermanned AA team after beating them the night before, when you really need the win, might just be the nail in the coffin. I hope the team isn't as deflated as I am because if so, it's over.

Overall offense has been the big problem so I don't want to forget that point. However, if you have very good goalies, they save you in games like last night. 4 goals on 30 shots is not a good save %. Only and outstanding save % would have saved the Sioux bacon last night, however, but you want to get those games once in a while. Seemed earlier in the season the Sioux got a game like that once in a while. Now they need them badly and aren't getting them. Goal is turning into an average situation for the Sioux, and that's one they can't afford at the same time offense is struggling.

Sioux lose the handle on the puck and AA gets the empty netter. I've been trying to hang tough through most of the losses this year but this one frosts me the most. AA is banged up and missing some important players, and at a time we need a victory once again we score only 2 times.
-
2 minutes left. I'll keep hoping for a miracle.
-
He was looking for another assist!
-
jk you don't need to worry about that lead now.....
-
I'm back and Spirko has scored! WHOOHOO! Greene smashes Hamilton into the boards. He's going to the box. AA wants 5 for boarding. Schneider telling Greene to sit down in the box and shut up as he only got 2 minutes and Schneider doesn't want him to get more.

I'm going to go read for a while. After last night, I won't hurry back.

UAA announcer says AA will be lucky to get out of the period tied the way things are going. Shots now 21-17 Sioux. Fabian and Canady giving AA fits.
-
YEAH ZAJAC! I guess he had enough practice shooting at goalposts and squeezed this one in between. Way to go Travis! I like that Lammy went to the bench for a little equipment work right away. Give us a few more seconds without giving up the answer!

With AA having to put warm bodies on the ice tonite, I don't think there's any excuse to lose. Hopefully the Sioux will get the ice slanted in their direction and take control of this game.
-
I'm not sold on Murray yet. He may be trying to play through it. But his first reaction might be more telling. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Haven't been able to listen much yet. How are the boys sounding tonite?
-
I remember leaving the X last year after that game. While it was disappointing to lose, it didn't hurt so bad because it was such a great game to watch as a fan.

I like Hak's post game comments. Looking forward to tomorrow. Wish I could watch the game.

AA assistant coach: DeCaro played well the first couple periods but probably wishes he had a couple back in the 3rd. Sioux a talented team and AA had a letdown for 10-12 minutes and gave the Sioux some opportunities that they took advantage of. Tomorrow need to cut down on some mental mistakes. Will take the first 2 periods but some mistakes in the 3rd cost them.
