At the 1980 Frozen Four, he bought us a round. We said we weren’t in it for the money, but beer was always welcome. Had a great chat about his travels and support.
Ummm ... hate to break it to you but none of UND's North Dakota players played HS "in their last two years of competition". All of them played juniors or went to the NTDP.
As for whether they were picked because it was "easy recruiting travel", you should back your train up a bit and talk to some NHL scouts first. Of the 7, 4 are NHL draft picks. One was brought in as a 3rd goalie (and has worked his way into a start).
Couple of notes about our opponent:
1. When was the last time we played a Duluth team that ranked 13 spots below us in the PWR? Its been a while ...
2. UND has 12 forwards with more points than Cole Spicer's 2-2=4.
3. UMD has a lack of production from a couple "Gr" holdovers: Tanner Laderoute and Jesse Jacques with 9 points between them, and combining for -9.
I wondered how much steam that took out of the Bizon Defense, going back out and still down three scores.
To restate the obvious - How much does bad coaching decisions translate into on field results ...? And how much on-field accountability do coaches have to get a bad decision from one of their own reversed?
Its right after the parade for the basketball team, who almost won twice this weekend. That one, to be fair, is really a fund raiser for new Summit League referees; they are trying to hire Don Adam I hear.
