Saturday night with Duluth-Spicer's Revenge???
farce poobah replied to Wilbur's topic in Men's Hockey
After reflecting on last night's loss to UMD, I found myself with 3 hypotheses about why we played so poorly, and why its a recurring pattern. One guess (hypothesis) is poor chemistry in the locker room, leading to poor communication and the eventual finger pointing. Second guess is "senioritis" for lack of a better term. Third guess is that practices aren't played at game speed. (Thinking back to the 97-99 teams which were legendary speed, both games and practices.) I've got no information to explain why we have underperformed so many nights this year. But I'm seeing patterns that I don't like ... PS I agree with those hoping 15 returns, wears a C, and gets that success on his resume for eventual pro experience. -

Speaking of D, let's start a campaign to bring Jason Herter back. We can hire one more coach now! Guy has won at Duluth, now Western ... -
Fabulous! Is he the first Brainerd guy to score in the NHL?

Like Sand(elin) through the hourglass, tonight ends UMD's chances of home ice for the NCHC. UND will move closer to home ice, and Al Pearson goes home happy. -

That was the easy part. The harder parts were: Score 4 Save 90%+ -
And even Long Island can beat Lindenwood.

At the 1980 Frozen Four, he bought us a round. We said we weren’t in it for the money, but beer was always welcome. Had a great chat about his travels and support. -
Ummm ... hate to break it to you but none of UND's North Dakota players played HS "in their last two years of competition". All of them played juniors or went to the NTDP. As for whether they were picked because it was "easy recruiting travel", you should back your train up a bit and talk to some NHL scouts first. Of the 7, 4 are NHL draft picks. One was brought in as a 3rd goalie (and has worked his way into a start).

Oh, the humanity! humanities!

Couple of notes about our opponent: 1. When was the last time we played a Duluth team that ranked 13 spots below us in the PWR? Its been a while ... 2. UND has 12 forwards with more points than Cole Spicer's 2-2=4. 3. UMD has a lack of production from a couple "Gr" holdovers: Tanner Laderoute and Jesse Jacques with 9 points between them, and combining for -9.

Finally! A cupcake comes to town.

I haven’t seen a UND team this bad in our own zone since the Rube Bjorkman years.
-
Goalies combining at .780 thru 2 periods.
-
Cam Rowe is gonna hear Chelsea Dagger in his sleep.
-
Or if UND wins …
-
Vicious enough that should be a suspension. But the refs missed interference on the Western guy.
-
Can UND's shut down line shut down Mr Hat Tricks (Polin) - AGAIN?

Before quitting, we usually go through: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression...

He should open an account and join the discussion. That could be loads of fun!

Obviously, Northwestern needs someone with the secret sauce to beating Southern Illinois.

And ... SDSU hit them with a long TD pass on the following possession.

I wondered how much steam that took out of the Bizon Defense, going back out and still down three scores. To restate the obvious - How much does bad coaching decisions translate into on field results ...? And how much on-field accountability do coaches have to get a bad decision from one of their own reversed?
