  1. Wisdom has been chasing LetsGoDU. But he has always been faster.
  2. Will the shootout last longer than the OT gain? edit: nope SCSU wins the SO
  3. Bonus hockey in St Cloud! i want to see another shootout
  4. Ugh. Arizona State loses to Alaska (Fairbanks). Another small tick down in our RPI.
  5. If that’s a cross check, the refs need to call 300 of those every game.
  6. Listening to Heinert and Starman is a joy. I even learn something new each game. under 2 in regulation… still 2-1 Western
  7. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. Had the pleasure of meeting him a couple times off the ice. Let's call him a gentle giant; friendly and social. On the ice, he was tough as nails. A classic 1970's defenseman, using his stick more on the opponents than on the puck. (An urban legend at the time was that "no opponent left Grand Forks without getting "Christian Brothers" tattoed all over their body".) One favorite memory, in a WCHA playoff game spring 1980, UND blowing out (I think it was Michigan State). Late in the game, UND gets a powerplay, and Travis Dunn, not normally a PP guy (but valuable on the PK!) dropped in front of the net, and for the better part of two minutes, the other 4 UND guys on the PP did their darndest to get him the puck and get him his first career goal at UND. Needless to say, even Michigan State was smart enough to sniff this out and covered him tightly, leaving all alone our other puck wizards, and foiled his shot at a goal (while conceding it to someone else). So he finished his career at UND without a goal (as I recall). But he will always be remembered by Sioux hockey fans as a key cog in the 1978-1979 WCHA Champions and getting us back to the NCAA Frozen Four, and 1979-1980 WCHA and NCAA Champions. RIP Travis. Thanks for all your contributions to Fighting Sioux and UND hockey.
  8. From a traditional news source: https://kfgo.com/2023/02/01/748400/
  9. Does this mean we now have a rivalry with Miami .... Asking for a friend brother ...
  10. The last time a B1G school won the tournament? (Well other than "never".) Ryan Duncan had been the Hobey Baker winner for a day. Michigan State, from the CCHA, 2007. Even a blind pig finds a cob of corn every now and then. But to your main point, they've done well. As a conference, they play the PWR game well, by scheduling a large percentage of nonconference cupcakes. Until the PWR fully reflects strength of schedule, that will continue.
  11. If Miami doesnt go all apes#!+ on Friday night, that doesn’t happen.
  12. 14 of 17 skaters with a G or an A tonight. “Everybody ropes! And Everybody rides!” yee-ha!
  13. Gave the whistle to their seeing eye dog.
  14. Can you leave again please? #pappawantsahattrick
  15. I think that cute retriever is doing okay in his first game operating the camera.
  16. Got checked way after the whistle by a Miami guy, who reacted to Ness cross check in the chest by dropping like a ton of bricks. I would have called 4 min penalties on Miami and 2 on UND. 2 on each for hits after whistle and 2 extra on Miami for embellishment.
  17. Too bad they can’t call the minor for Diving on Miami after the review.
  18. Interested that the box score posted on NCHC website doesn't show a game misconduct and therefore no grounds for a suspension. You'd think they would update their official records. https://nchchockey.com/boxscore.aspx?id=7ltyipP022aUJKmSgYVs3wXi7up73ghniwD5ElWyd07J7BNseBaMQePf0fY%2f3yUPFv605YpjvS1U0FPU8ls5Itc%2fGV2vZA0cVDjvZ1sP48nHc%2f7RWt%2bvNe%2fvUtOZyYvYPvLLNDUuUbvwOlq5hjNgahBUB05Px8KpoK4XZV1Hd%2fU%3d&path=mhockey
  19. We got outshot, and we lost the faceoff battle too. FYI. /ducks
  20. Banter aside, count me as frustrated that the referees didn't pick up on Miami's intent to irritate, agitate and injure. I'm hoping they put a stop to that, quickly, tonight.
  21. I think Mike Commodore has a year of eligibility left.
  22. In a related story, Bergeron got a call from the Philadelphia Flyers, inquiring his interest in a coaching position.
  23. I'm not sure I agree. They were looking at a CCHA with a bunch of D-2 schools and BGSU about to drop hockey. In their shoes at that time, I go for the NCHC, especially in the early stages hoping to get Notre Dame to join. Congrats guys on a good win. Lunch pail effort. Lot of stuff for tomorrow morning's film review but enjoy the W for tonight.
