I'll go with Bina

It's nice that UND is finally in this again, but we should be hosting the thing. Also, why UMass along with BU. I like that all leagues are represented. I'd rather have Clarkson or St. Lawrence in this, so we get some common opponents points against the ECAC schools. That's always helpful in the PWR.

Don't believe it does either. Do you think Cornhuskers as a name is a negative for Nebraska? How about Sooners for Oklahoma, or Longhorns for Texas? It's a team nickname, and one that has some relevance to both the history of this area and a major academic program.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnstorming A better explanation than I could give. Basically daredevil pilots, the precursor to the Blue Angels and the like.
-
I think Barnstormers would be a great replacement name. In addition to the potential for a cool logo it also plays into UND's marquee academic program. It also relates somewhat to our rural nature and I do not believe any other college team has it for a nickname.

I've got an extra pair of tickets for the Saturday night Sioux-Pioneers game. Make an offer.

I kind of like the idea of retiring the Nickel. Let's donate it to the Heritage Center or the State Museum in Pembina. In the same vein, and in keeping with the increased costs of playing at DI and inflation, how about playing for the Quarter. It could be a mockup of the ND state quarter. The only downside as that the quarter design also have a Bison on it, but I'd be willing to live with that.

City/state born in and reside in now? grew up in central ND, now a nomad, currently working in Boston Did you attend UND? Yep, class of 96 Favorite current player? Duncan, Chorney Favorite all-time Sioux player(s)? Landon Wilson, Teeder Wynne, Curtis Murphy, David Hoogsteen Favorite all-time NON Sioux WCHA player/team? Denver Goalie Sinuhe Wallinheimo/St. Lawrence Are you a season ticket holder? Have been, but not now Got my college hockey fix tonight watching the Hockey East leaders Northeastern drop Lowell. That is starting to look like a really nice win for for the Sioux.

I think it's a little too early to make that claim for the West. For the West and Midwest regionals over the next two years, three of the four locations are campus sites. It will be interesting to see when the 2010 and 2011 sites are announce how that goes. Attendance for the regionals has still been spotty. Denver was good, but I think that was also because Frozen Four tickets were tied to the Regional. I suppose you could see that for a regional at the X, but there just aren't the mid-range size arenas in the West that there are in the East, unless you go to someplace like Des Moines. That would probably be a huge failure.

GVSU is only #11 in the watered down BCS version of the rankings. The real Masseyrating, which includes Margin of Victory, places GVSU #1 and UND #2. Also, there isn't really any intermingling of DI and DIII in hockey so it isn't really fair to be critical of those ratings. If there were more interdivisional games, I am sure they would be properly ranked.

Kansas. It could be a competitive game, Lawrence is awesome and it's close to Kansas City, so you could do a Royals or Chiefs game on Sunday. It's also not a terrible drive from GF. Other choices would be Tennessee (just love to see a game there - size similar to Michigan Stadium, but 10x the passion), Boston College (could do on a weekend with a hockey game, that would be a blast), Washington (Seattle is another cool town with a fair number of alums), and Rutgers (for the benefit of JFR and NYC exposure).

http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm?id=176745 Grafton has really stepped up. Hopefully Grand Forks and Fargo will at least match this contribution. While volunteer help is immensely helpful, unfortunately disaster recovery is also a very expensive proposition.

Kids realized they couldn't get into UND, so they applied to NDSU. That also explains UND's acceptance percentage edged back up a little, as those long shots simply didn't apply, as they had earlier.

I fear that may be telling you something. I don't think people really understand how devastating these things are. I sure wouldn't want to be on an island with a CAT 5 coming my way. The CNNing of news has created this expectation that reporters should throw all caution to the wind and put their lives on the line to cover stories. As someone who works with the media and more specifically works disasters, that is crazy. All too often, they get in the way of response efforts and sometimes require saving themselves. It's another case of trying to make the story rather than reporting it. That said, this storm also appears likely to hit the beleaguered Yucatan Peninsula. And the remnants of Tropical Storm Erin are still pounding Oklahoma. As we are moving into the peak of Tropical Storm season, it appears this could be a bad one.

There will likely be a call for blood donation, so if you are looking for a way to help that will almost certainly be a need.

I like the idea, but think the Minnesota series is a bad idea. People are already plenty jacked up for those games. I would pick another tough series to add a little extra oomph to the crowd, possibly Denver or St. Cloud. St. Cloud would make sense as we play them at home every year so it would be a truly annual event.
-
I would bet that CSTV will carry the BC game. I can't really see any other road games being picked up by CSTV or ESPNU, with the possible exception of Minnesota.

It's red white and blue for GHS. Inexplicably the school song is Anchors Aweigh.
-
I would certainly be interested, but would definitely buy one if it came with the Denny Gunderson action figure I have the White Rose (slightly larger than Hot Wheels) one so this would be a nice complement.

I'd say Grand Forks has a credible shot at both the U18 and the Women's Championship. I'd think the Juniors will go to a larger media market, in fact I could it going to the Twin Cities with the Xcel and Ridder (or Mariucci if they didn't care about different arena dimensions) Arena or possibly Denver with the Pepsi Center and Magness. I think if Grand Forks does bid again for the Juniors, it would make more sense to have the new Fargo rink as the secondary arena. Attendance in Thief River was very poor and logistics are better for the trip from Fargo to Grand Forks. It's also obviously a much bigger market and many of the people travelling will fly into Fargo anyway.
-
The story notes that the tourney will be in the U.S. in 2011, so I'm sure they were hoping for a European bidder. I'd love to see a combined Winnipeg-Grand Forks bid for the World Championships, but not sure Winnipeg would do it with the Moose being in the playoffs at that time of the year.

Not a huge shock with five early departures. It will be interesting to see how the APR affects recruiting. It seems it will put a premium on four year players.
-
Just show them a tape of the Super Bowl. Sticking around didn't seem to hurt Peyton Manning any.
-
Gotta just start putting some pucks on net. Schneider isn't even having to make plays. Doesn't have to be the perfect shot, at least get A shot.

The Sioux D can't be so loosey-goosey when clearing the puck. They are treating it like a grenade.
