  2. UMass just scores to go up 4-1 up Maine, late in the 2nd, looking for the sweep.
  3. You have five years to use four years of eligibility, so playing in the USHL would indeed save a year. See Quinn Fylling as an example. It would be the equivalent of a red-shirt.
  4. Alabama-Huntsville scores 9:30 into overtime to defeat Wayne State 4-3 an advance to the CHA semifinals against Niagara. The Chargers scored 4 straight after Wayne opened a 3-0 lead.

  10. webcast quality is outstanding. announcers, not so much.
  11. I have a presale code for The Police at Xcel Energy, but won't be able to go. PM me if you want it. I think you can only get singles at this point, but it is good until Noon CT today. Not asking for any cash, but if you can hook me up with some Sioux tickets somewhere down the line, I wouldn't turn them down.
  12. The Hall of Fame game has an exemption, so they would be able to.
  13. I'd love to see Michigan come to the Ralph for the Hall of Fame game.
  14. But UND has also been pretty strong in golf, tennis and of course swimming, which they don't have at NDSU. I'd say the programs are fairly even overall, with each putting a focus on specific sports and excelling at those. That makes a lot of sense. I'd rather have a mixture of great and poor programs than a full slate of middling teams.
  15. I had thought about a relegation/promotion scenario as well, but pulling one team from the WCHA and three from the CCHA, so all three leagues would be at nine teams. The relegation/promotion would also occur only once every five years, with the bottom teams from the the CCHA and WCHA over that stretch moving to the CHA, while the top CHA team over that period would move to the league or their choice and the second place team would move to the other league. This allows you to maintain the core schools competing together and some of the other NCAA rules and helps create more stability for scheduling purposes. I know it has virtually no chance of happening, but it is probably one of the few places a European style relegation/promotion system could work.
  16. You're correct, although I was more referring to the general student body that just the players themselves.
  17. I think the only way the Nickel should be up for grabs is if the series resumes. That means games every year, alternating between the schools as the history of the series has been. No one off games, no 2-for-1s. Possession of the Nickel is about the only bargaining chip UND has right now, but I think it's a pretty important one. You can't tell me that with the Bison not eligible for the post season that a winning the Nickel would have been huge, and likewise for UND in the next few years. The posturing now is very non-North Dakotan and as a UND alum and North Dakota native it makes me quite sad. If there is no matchup in 2007, both schools will graduate there first classes that never experienced a Sioux-Bison game. There's no need for that.
  18. I hope this isn't the mindset of the University and the athletic department. FCS football is nice, but the Big Dance is what can put a school on the map.
  19. Can anyone open the webcast directly in media player? get codec error messages when i try to.
  20. I have to admit I never understood how this matchup came about. A North Dakota-South Dakota game would seem to make a lot more sense. And for Montana, Idaho seems the more likely rival.
  21. Do you have Windows Media Player 11? I couldn't get this to work at all last night, but used to do it with the previous broadcast on version 10. Also, anyone able to get the embedded player to work with Firefox? I had a lot of buffing problems last night, missed several goals. Hopefully they have enough bandwidth to support all of the people that will now be watching.
  22. I'll be there tomorrow night, so I can give you a report on if it matches the hype.
  23. I think another factor is the addition of Olympic size rinks. Much easier to to slow down a game, the 2004 NCAA tourney game against Denver is a perfect example. Even skill teams like Minnesota score a high percentage of their goals on the powerplay, which is greatly enhanced on the big sheet. If you went back to more NHL size rinks I believe scoring would go up.
  24. I guess I don't see this as such a death blow. As a kid growing up in western North Dakota, I associated more with the Big Eight/12 Schools, so I would love to see schools like Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado or Iowa State on the schedule. And for basketball, Kansas is certainly a more exciting option than any Big 10 school other than the 2 that we played exhibition games against this year. There is a lot less arrogance and elitism from the Big 12 despite posessing schools that are every bit the equal athletically and academically.
