Womens hockey can win a national championship and produce Olympians. That is a level of media exposure the other two cannot reach. With better marketing it has revenue potential. Cutting it would be like cutting womens basketball in the mid 80s. I do think a coaching change is probably due.

No reason that UND wont play the Bears as a frequent nonconference game. Same possibility with the Montana schools.

It is? Teams have down periods. UND did. Does that somehow minimize Lake States great teams during that time frame. Michigan ran out on the wcha when they were no longer relevant. They dominated a CCHA where the league catered to them. Now they are struggling in the big 10. College hockey is just fine. Id much rather see success at hockey schools like st lawrence and clarkson.

My point is play for now not the future. was this the best team in America? no, but things had lined up that an unlikely deep run was certainly possible. I'd like to think this progran has turned the corner, but I'd be lying if i said the lack of recruiting focus on QB doesnt concern me. Next year could be great, but what if Studsrud gets hurt. Heidlebaugh got almost no meaningful playing time so we are playing with fire there. Thats why this loss was so painful. we seemed to have a lot of mojo and the draw was favorable. But I'll be pulling for them next year just the same.

This is Washington Nationals thinking. you have to grab for the brass ring because you never know when those chances are going to come. this team could easily have been the 97 hockey team. if they'd won yesterday you head to EWU. a win there and you are hosting a national semifinal. not easy but a ring was there for the taking.

I was thinking it looked like 8-9000 UND fans there. almost all upper deck fans looked like they were for the good guys and about 3/4 of lower bowl it seemed.

Goes down with 2009 hockey loss to UNH and 0.6 as most brutal losses as fan. and like the UNH loss seemed like it came from playing not to lose. Painful lesson to take into next season. wouldnt mind learning from a win once in a while.
