  1. Yeah, Bridewell originally proposed it.
  2. Bridewell's motion to eliminate "North Dakota" from consideration passes.
  3. I'm equally surprised!
  4. I already corrected that information.
  5. Looks like Fighting Hawks.
  6. Fighting Hawks ranked the highest.
  7. North Dakota is in last place
  8. Goehring objects to Bridewell's proposal.
  9. Committee member Bridewell moves to remove just "North Dakota" from consideration. He represents faculty.
  10. Oh, there is more than one might think. I drive that route everyday multiple times a day and always see people (students, faculty, industry reps) crossing from Upson I and Harrington Hall to the Core Library, even more in the fall and spring semesters. They are speculating an enrollment of 350 in the Petroleum Engineering Department, alone, this fall. That's up from just 4, four years ago. Those students and industry representatives in the state all use the facility, and with the expansion there will be more reasons to use it than ever before. I am glad they quashed the idea to move the Core Library to Bismarck.
  11. I've always been welcome to intelligent, informed conversation about the game.
  12. Maybe we could stick to the Xs and Os of the Sept. 19 game. Just a thought. Most would find much more value in that than re-hashing the past and who wronged who and whose butt hurt is worse.
  13. I think the Alumni Review magazine, alone, goes to more than 80,000 UND alumni right now! It would be a big undertaking. How ever it's done, they need to make sure that it's a secure process.
  14. Also, plans are to have an interconnecting sky walk over Centennial Drive from the new CEC to the expanded Core Library. I think that's cool!
  15. I wouldn't be surprised if they did not use some kind of a direct mailing push or other means to get ballots to alumni around the world, too. That would take time to set up and tabulate.
  16. I'm pretty sure they'll wait for students to be back in classes before any kind of vote takes place.
  17. Great points! We shall see.
  18. True. My hunch is that the consultant is not a big fan of "North Dakota," either, and that its staying power with the committee has to do with certain members who are being persuaded by public input (nothing wrong with that). I have not seen any media quotes or tweets that have stated one way or another how Kelly O'Keefe and Padilla view just "North Dakota," nor have I heard any at the two meetings that I was in attendance.
  19. I hope you are right.
  20. My gut is that "North Dakota" stays on the short list (however many that is). And it will be the winner after a public vote, with Rough Riders being a distant but sizable runner up. However, despite its popularity in the public voting, I don't see Kelley choosing "North Dakota," and, lest we forget, Kelley is the end-all-be-all final determiner in all of this. I don't see him picking it due to the myriad reasons that have been hashed and rehashed on here and in the media over the past few months, including its marketability disadvantages, the presumption that it provides a vacuum that would be filled by the banned nickname, and the sense that all it does is kick the can down the road a few more month, years, etc., preventing any kind of real resolution for the school, its student athletes and the new president. Again, I could be totally wrong in all of this. I will be anxious (in the truest sense of the word) to see how this all plays out.
  21. I'm hopeful but more cautious, as I thought that we would have handled Weber better than we did last year at home.
  22. If the corners and safeties do their jobs and are effective, the front 7 could have a field day. Got to keep the quarterback in check when he scrambles and can't give up third and longs like last year.
  23. Not sure on the highest but Greely, Co (UNC) is at 4660 feet asl, Bozeman, MT (MSU) is at 4800 feet asl, Cedar City (SUU) is at 5850 feet asl and Flagstaff (NAU) is at 7000 feet asl -- 220 feet lower than Laramie.
  24. Good points!
