  1. Utah Valley is becoming a short-term rival for us this year in a lot of sports.
  2. After perusing the link, I noticed that AC is rated 46 and UND is 65.... this after UND beat them head to head pretty convincinlgy this year. I think there might have been some confusion with the numbers and the schools most likely were mixed up. Someone alert Kolpack.
  3. Oh poor, baby. Grow some skin and consider the source! Thanks for your interest, though.
  4. Then what good would message boards be?
  5. Oh, you mean the old "butfootball" response.
  6. Double ouch!
  7. Yeah, that one.
  8. Was there an exhibition college basketball game last night involving two regional teams down south? Did anyone catch the final score?
  9. Who died and made you resident bonehead?
  10. I think it is refreshing to hear us go back and forth about reasons why we didn't win by more than 20 instead of debating and lamenting why we lost to teams like this, as we did in past seasons.
  11. I had a hunch you despised UND and only loved the name; now it's confirmed.
  12. Never thought I'd see the day that Fetch and the like would be using Chuck Haga and the Herald as an example for keeping the name.
  13. With a name like "Labatt," I like him already! I'm getting thirsty.
  14. This is great news! Sounds like a solid recruit on the field and in the classroom. An awesome get for UND academically and athletically. Thanks for the updates on Mollberg and the other NW Minn. recruits.
  15. Totally agree with this. J. Kolpack, Terry V. and the Fargo-Sioux Falls media corridor have gotten so much wrong about UND it's disgraceful; especially the Douple/Kelley pseudo drama.
  16. All I can say to that is: Wow!
  17. The NCAA brainiac(s) would probably "mistake" our "sieve" chant and hand motion after goals with the infamous tomahawk chop the way so many of our PC anti-nickname faculty members on campus either ignorantly or intentionally mischaracterize it. Need to have someone close by who is educated enough to inform them of what is truly going on.
  18. Ok, I'm such a nerd... but I love this sh#t. Obviously, the big four in women's hockey are in the WCHA -- UND, Wisco, Minny and UMD. I crunched the numbers based on the official box scores listed on USCHO from week 2 to this past week 6. All programs have six home games in the books, including UND's exhibition against Manitoba in week 2 of the college hockey season. Here is the breakdown: UMD: Total attendance = 5,904 Avg. per game = 984 Minny: Total attendance = 5,136 Avg. per game = 856 Wisco: Total attendance = 11,050 Avg. per game = 1,841.6 UND: Total attendance = 11,669 Avg. per game = 1,944.8
  19. Yes! Here's my top 5. 1. University of California-Berkeley 2. University of Wisconsin-Madison 3. Dartmouth 4. St. Cloud State University 5. University of Colorado-Boulder
  20. Yes; I agree; I wish he would be more passionate and transparent in his defense of the nickname, but I think that he thinks that that kind of stance by a chief executive might jeopardize UND's prospects for conference affiliation with the BSC, or he just thinks that no matter what, it is important to this University to get this controversy behind us and move on. That's a lot of speculation on my part but it's all I got to go with, and I prefer to give folks the benefit of the doubt until, as Frank Blackcloud likes to say, "I walk a mile in their moccasins."
  21. If a leader did everything that we wanted and toed that perfect line, unquestioningly following the majority opinion without regard to anything else would he then be, in fact, a leader or a lemming?
  22. That's a good point and I can appreciate your views. I had the same question about the ads featuring beer grandma, and here's the response I got. Those ads were used less and less to the point that they were pulled as UND steered toward a new marketing campaign, called "UND and Me." You might have seen some of them lately, with Dave St. Peter of the Twins and Karla Christofferson, co-owner of the LA Sparks. However, the fact that they were used at all, I think, is one of those situations where UND marketing rode the waves of a popular, albeit, recent tradition, and Kelley initially thought it was ok because of its focus on online education instead of alcohol. But, again, my hunch is that Kelley started second guessing the ads and their loose association with alcohol and they were eventually phased out. That coincided with the move to a new marketing campaign. My read of the tea leaves is that It looks like a clear case of a leader, through his administration, second guessing a decision and making moves to go another direction.
  23. Mrs. Delano, the class act that she is, doesn't seem to mind it all that much.
  24. Thanks! I'm a giver.
  25. Good point. However, as more stuff is revealed it appears that this whole thing stemmed from a passing comment or a request made over a year ago to REA staff members and not an ultimatum or dictate that it was originally made out to be. Though, I disagree that the "beer gramma" is detrimental to the image of the University, I do think that it is definitely in Kelley's job description to worry about the image of his organization. You can call it micromanaging, but it sounds like he left it up to REA to decide if they would honor the request. To that end, I've also been told that the REA has actually been looking to feature the "beer gramma" on the big screen for the past few games, but they have not been able to spot her. So it appears that maybe the request was that REA just feature her less instead of do away with it altogether. The reason I believe that it was a passing comment and not an official request is that Kelley tends to use the "chain of command" in those instances, meaning that an official request to the arena management would have come from Faison and not straight from the top.
