I blame my hair loss on the nickname thing. Just sayin'

The Sioux have a bunch of kids who've just had illustrated to them how difficult college hockey is. And how much faster, and more physical it is than junior hockey. The team needs to take a deep breath and regroup. They need to work really hard on their defensive responsibilities in front of their own goal. The missed passes are just timing; that will get better on its own. Be interesting to see how many Maine skaters are left untouched between the dots Friday.

That line won't be skating together in a month's time.

^Methinks Frank has been raiding Doug's liquor cabinet.

Wyobisonman is on point here. Carlson is stirring up a hornet's nest. It appears to me the majority leader has the SBOHE in his sights, and is locked and loaded. This nickname stuff is just a red herring hiding his real motive.

^I bet the insurance company denies the payment. If the kid fills out the claim form with his name, they'll say he wasn't the right person to take the shot, and therefore ineligible to win the dough. If he fills it out with his twin's name they'll go after him for insurance fraud. I hope someone from the community steps up and shoves some money the kid's way.

Walking???? (I'm kidding, friend.)

That's a horribly-written article and is fraught with errors. The writer is correct in that the nickname will be changed, but the article itself is almost unreadable.

This is a horribly-written article that says, essentially, nothing.

I am a proud J-School grad; it was a sad, sad mess to watch that program be butchered alive.

Is this from personal experience?

Time to stock up on Pepto-Bismol.

UND and Denver are clearly the big dogs in the conference. I'm not saying that is a bad thing at all; in fact, after years and years of having to put up with second-class treatment at the hands of the inept WCHA "leadership", I'd say North Dakota deserves to be in the driver's seat. Our favorite team is one of a handful of big dogs in all of college hockey; they should be treated as such in their home conference.

From the looks of things Faison and Dasher Dwarf were having kind of a two-man lovefest, so I'd say the "power" in the NCHC is clearly centered in Grand Forks and Denver. I'm 100% serious.

Did NR make up the part about people saying the Vikings are offensive? Or were they referring to the quality of the football team?

That's how I found out.

The fact that hockey can't seem to attract any support at NDSU is sort of surprising, considering one of the athletic directors has a long history with the sport.

I'm excited for UND Hockey. I think the speculation about how the smaller schools might drag the WCHA down to their level of $$$ investment is probably well-founded. I believe we'll see some very exciting, up-tempo hockey, as teams' talent levels will be closer and shouldn't have to resort to clutch-and-grab play. I presume the level of officiating will be improved. A "major" television presence would be nice, but I don't really expect that to happen. One reality of the new conference that hasn't garnered very much press yet is the fact that

Not picking on anyone in particular here, but a point of clarification is in order. Minnesota and Wisconsin had two choices regarding Big Ten Hockey: follow Big Ten rules and move their program(s) into the newly-formed conference; or quit the Big Ten in all other sports. They couldn't be in the WCHA once the BTHC was announced. I'm not trying to stick up for either the Gophers or Badgers, but in matter of fact, they really had no choice.

I realize you've enthroned me on your ignore list, but will you please explain how your post says anything different than how I read it? Here's what you posted: I suggest you re-read your own post. Explain to me how I mis-interpreted your words. I'd look into some remedial language arts classes, too. Maybe a session on anger-management while you're there.

Are you serious?!? Are you really suggesting Minnesota should've (or even could've) quit the Big 10 in order to keep their hockey team in the WCHA? [John McEnroe]You cannot be serious![/John McEnroe]

I hope Brad is correct. I know the opportunity is there; I'm just not sure that McSCU's budget woes and a McLeod-led left-behind WCHA are easily-overcome obstacles.
