  1. Did a lot of good things today, but regardless of what happened today, ultimately this team will be judged on what happens in the rest of the games this season.
  2. I assume you mean for us, as many have pointed out how bad Nebraska is.
  3. A team like that, NDSU and SDSU beat. Three touchdown loss and it seems people are ecstatic. Plenty of chances to make a statement, but didn’t make the big plays.
  4. Looking at his stats, he has a better save percentage than any returning goalie in the NCHC that has enough games to meet criteria. I find it funny that many have high expectations for freshmen coming in and are putting some of them high up in the lineup, but a goalie that has played quite a bit is a big concern. Not saying either is a given, but there seems to be some inequity in the thought process.
  5. So you're saying they are using UND to develop and get to the next level? They have an option in hockey to go to Major Junior to get paid, but many want to get at least a start on their career after hockey.
  6. That's his thing!
  7. On the positive side, should Nebraska lose this game, there will be plenty of Nebraska fans cheering for us, so Frost will get fired.
  8. A little less harsh, “Corns o.k., but it’s UND that’s a-maize-ing! I know, lame, but so are a lot of things that go together with the Cornhuskers.
  9. I would say another concern would be someone to be the big draw guy Connor Ford was. Hoping Jamernik can fulfill that role, as it would be nice to have that whole line for big situations should they put him back with Senden and Hain. Another concern for me is did they put in as much time connecting and working with each other like they did last year knowing that would make or break the season with so many new guys last year? Hopefully they aren’t taking for granted with so many pieces back on a league champion that they will be one of the top teams again. We saw how that played out for St. Cloud. Still need guys to take a step forward and a few freshmen to make an impact. Hopefully the competition for playing time has been a motivating factor to prevent complacency.
  10. At what point do you realize that championship teams are built with upperclassmen with a few high end guys sprinkled in. UND seems to be getting some of those high end guys. The best run in our program’s history wasn’t built on elite recruits coming in, and when we did get all the high end guys like Parise, Toews, Oshie, Zajac and Stafford, you rail on the coaches for not getting it done.
  11. Numbers may drop, but I still think the top tier teams will be able to attract some nice talent. That said, I wish the transfer portal would just go away in all sports, as it has become sort of a free agency where lower programs are basically left developing top talent, then losing them once they have developed nicely.
  12. I suppose if you go 5 for 5 it would seem great, but I would almost guarantee you that all of them wouldn't show up on campus. Some will disappoint and keep getting pushed off until they decide to go elsewhere, and some might rip it up and choose to go another route. Suffice it to say that if we went 5 for 5 we would most likely end up with another Cole Spicer situation, so maybe the coaches wouldn't even want 5 commits. 3 commits last year seemed great. It doesn't hurt to use the transfer portal a little to fill in with experience and a proven commodity.
  13. I thought Karl might help with recruiting in the Cities, but not so much yet. Hopefully we can nab a few still.
  14. Oh, the jokes he is going to be taunted by there... U can Kiss M-ass!
  15. Since when do you care about 6th round draft picks?
  16. But you have to remember, Covid was probably the reason they got year 2 out of guys like Power, etc.
  17. Sure, I can tip my cap to the mythical recruiting champions, Michigan, Minnesota, BU, BC, but who is going to make the trophy for them. They have out-recruited everyone for a while, but at some point that title has to ring hollow. It would be nice to have a handful of those guys, but be careful what you wish for sometimes because needing to have to keep filling in those gaps after a year or two can get harder, but made easier with the transfer portal. Four year guys need to be the base of your team.
  18. I've been hearing this same scenario over the last 30 years. It wasn't until Minnesota started recruiting some grit and role players that they started to be a real force again, and BU is still working on becoming a consistent threat.
  19. I would be quite surprised if Judd is bottom six. Transition includes defensive responsibility as well as offensive, so I think the coaches are more apt to go with the experience unless the freshmen transition fast on both ends of the ice.
  20. If Kunz brings the effort, he certainly has the skill to be a difference maker at some point. I think you will see some freshmen on the the top lines, but I also think that there may be a lot of experimenting and we might be surprised on who is and isn't in the lineup on a night to night basis. I think we will see a lot of players early in the year as things play out, and the lineup might be constructed based on our opponent. I am interested to see if Strinden can be a presence being a bit older, but that is what is so exciting, is that until they make the leap to college, you never know how they will transition.
  21. I keep Senden, Hain and Jamernik together only because they were a huge force when they were all together, not so much when one or two of the parts were missing.
  22. It looks like only 3 of the players from Schlossman's list are off the board right now. Perhaps many of the prospects are going to avail themselves of their visits, which I think would be prudent.
  23. Would guess there would have to be stringent rules, otherwise recruits might have their visit in the Bahamas!
  24. Just out of curiosity, does an official visit have to take place on campus? Would it be permissible to have a recruit see a spectacle like the game in Vegas? I know the coaches would probably have too much to deal with anyway, but just wondering what rules apply to visits.
