  1. Which tells you gfhockey isn’t really a fan but a message board antagonist. Most fans would revel in the joy that guys like Gaber and Ness exhibited, even if it could be fleeting with a loss down the road.
  2. This begs the question, if the perceived hand pass didn’t lead directly to the goal, and Minnesota had possession of the puck at some point, could it have been overturned?
  3. Now he dilemma is do you give him one game off next week, and get Hedquist some more game experience, or try keep the roll going. Would guess Zmolek will get some extra rest now.
  4. Shocked that Western didn’t ask for a review. Makes you appreciate our guys up in the booth.
  5. Yeah, that was a total buzzkill, along with Denver getting a part of the NCHC title the following week, along with the top seed in the NCHC playoffs.
  6. …and they scored 13 goals against us, but only have 3 goals in the last 3 games. Weird is an understatement.
  7. Actually, they play a lot like a bunch of old time Sioux teams— play very aggressively, and take their fair share of penalties because of that aggressiveness. Wish we would be that relentless on a more consistent basis. I was surprised how many 50/50 puck battles we lost last night. Need to turn that around tonight to get at least a share of the title.
  8. They play Miami next week, then I assume they would probably need to win their first round playoff series, which could be against another NCAA bubble team.
  9. Take that back, as if both St. Cloud and UND lost, Denver could win out and still take it.
  10. Even if we beat them tomorrow I think they still have a good chance at the NCAA. The way they take face offs and pressure, they would be a hard out as well.
  11. I believe it is Senior night with a chance to get a share of the NCHC championship, so the incentive should be there. Of course Western has ruined our Senior night in the past. I believe CC still has a chance at the title as well.
  12. Yeah, better not assume we have this game in hand, nor Denver for that matter.
  13. That would put us up 6 points, which means we would have to equal St. Cloud’s points tomorrow to gain a share of the title at worst.
  14. I wonder if Berg wouldn’t have pressed the 2nd faceoff violation as a penalty if they would have called it.
  15. They try to be too deliberate, rather than moving the puck fast. I know they don’t want to give up possession, but all the time wasted on not getting shots is almost as bad as having to retrieve a cleared puck. Western seems to be more engaged than us, even though they are behind. With St. Cloud getting beat, they need to take care of business with the hope, they can have a shot at getting at least a piece of the title, and not leaving it up to a bounce or two in the last game.
  16. Remember Maine was a top 4 seed not too long ago. If UND drops, Wisconsin could very well be the top seed in Sioux Falls.
  17. Let’s hope Persson’s stock is as high as it can be by winning a National championship and being a major factor. I can deal with people leaving when they take home the ultimate team prize.
  18. Hakstol tried to get Cam Johnson in his freshman season and this board exploded when he gave up three and had to be pulled. With how tight the pairwise is, coaches really have to play who they think will help them win the game. I don’t think CC will be playing anyone but Mbereko, unless they are getting beat handily. It used to be the backup would get games against perceived lesser opponents. You do that now and lose, your pairwise takes a big hit.
  19. But Berry was coach in 2016.
  20. Schlossman reposted that Denver could be without top two centers against St. Cloud. King and Rizzo are two big guns to be missing for a big series, especially on the road. We better make sure we take care of our own business.
  21. That, and I believe Minnetonka has about 6 guys already committed to college teams and I believe they have 3 Mr. Hockey candidates.
  22. Would bet if she worked with UND for a bit, the NHL network could come calling.
  23. Yes, will need to be Denver home series good next weekend against Western who, like CC, is fighting for home ice and to stay up in the pairwise and possibly move up.
  24. Assuming you mean to Berg, but he had another one to Gaber as well, but that one wasn’t “eyes in the back of the head” good.
  25. The fact Duluth hasn’t won a league championship in over 30 years, but has 3 NCAA titles shows that getting on a four game winning streak by having a hot goaltender and getting a few bounces can go a long ways in winning it all. So yeah, if there were series, that might be a lot different, but that is what really makes the basketball and hockey tournaments so unpredictable, because you always have the Cinderella story.
