  1. If it is Cooper Williams, they might as well get Cooper Simpson's teammate last year, Cooper Siegert, and create a Super Duper Cooper line!
  2. No idea what his assets or liabilities are, but I wonder if guys that need to develop the offensive side of their game would be good candidates for the CHL, and guys that need to round out their two way game could benefit by playing against older players in the USHL. Will be interesting to see where college coaches prefer their recruits to play.
  3. You can’t have volunteer coaches anymore. I suppose until Smaby is hired they wouldn’t be in the wrong.
  4. Jackson’s comments at a UND outing at Suite Shots from Fighting Hawks.com — Head Coach Dane Jackson was the first coach introduced. Talking about the recruiting process in college hockey and his goals for the program this upcoming season. "I think we're really kind of getting back to our roots of, you," explained Jackson. "I've talked a lot with Gino Gasparini and Dean Blake and Dave Hakstol. Dave been in our building a lot, been talking to us to kind of helping us." Glad to see he is utilizing all the resources he can to foster a change to a renewed culture. Let’s hope that sets us back on the right path.
  5. He must have meant he left Vancouver, BC after he signed his contract!
  6. I think a lot of the really high end guys will make the jump fine, much like some of the 1st round talent that comes in from the NTDP, but after that your 2nd round talent and below will probably be hit and miss as to who can make an impact right away, if at all. If they stay long enough like Dylan James, they should progress gradually, but the thing with CHL guys is they be more apt to bolt if they aren't seeing ice time or their stats aren't what they are used to playing in the wide open CHL. Most guys are probably career oriented, but maybe guys from the CHL might be a little less interested in the schooling that goes along with it, as they could merely be using it as a stepping stone.
  7. Wish he would have been on our side the last 15 years.
  8. A lot of people think that a team Schlossman picked to finish 7th in the league in Western Michigan would be a few years before they could make a run. Same with Penn State. If Jackson can get guys to buy in, he is already ahead of the game. I mean how many times did we win the hardest conference in college hockey and didn't make a run.
  9. I will be very interested to see what recruits we can get in August this year. Some may do their due diligence and make their decisions later, but I imagine there will be some that commit shortly after August 1. Work your magic Chyzyk.
  10. Will be interesting to see if Howard will actually come back to college or not.
  11. He sure made the right move changing directions, because at Wisconsin he hadn't grown into the impact player he did at Portland. Of course, we know that those first two years of college hockey can be a huge learning curve, and maybe he just started to catch on and the confidence from the move down a level accelerated his ascent.
  12. So you're guaranteeing that we don't get a CHL guy?
  13. Interesting. I believe Paul Pooley applied for UND’s head coaching job when Blais was hired. If I recall correctly, many UND fans preferred Pooley over Blais.
  14. I don't know, focusing exclusively on sports seems to have worked out well for gfhockey!
  15. But our criteria of the name needing to be unique led to that decision. Just think of all the possibilities if they actually held to the criteria. Sure, most people would still have resisted to some degree, but looking at this video, a lot more could have been done to get a few more people on board. Epic fail.
  16. Raising ticket prices for the product they are putting out there, now that's stealing, never mind the tax dollars they feel entitled to that they waste on goodness knows what pet project.
  17. Congratulations you have maintained your perfect post record of complaining. Must suck to go through life with a glass empty mindset.
  18. The guy is such an idiot. Playing in front of nobody is not a great experience for any athlete. Wodon will continue to die on that hill no matter how stupid it makes him look.
  19. This is as of April 2022 according to Schlossman. The fact that Swanson came in smaller and pretty young certainly made it a tougher adjustment for him, as Kawaguchi had more junior seasons under his belt. It just goes to show that even older players have quite an adjustment. Age as of Oct. 1 of their rookie season 1. Jonathan Toews 17 years, 5 months, 3 days (CHI, 1st round) 2. 20. You can't tell me that some of the steam that Penn State has received in their program lately is from their Frozen Four run. The people that kept with mantra of "next year" really brought our program down a notch in the eyes of many people, including recruits. We really need to take the next step to get that steam back, and I would say that Chyzk is a good start in that direction.
  21. I think with these guys, you are looking to get scoring by committee. It is nice to have someone with special skills that can take over a game. We saw what Boisvert did for us as a freshman in big game situations. Where would we have been if he didn't produce in those situations. That doesn't mean these guys are chopped liver, but we will need each of them to produce when the others aren't because I don't know that individually they will be able to take over games on a consistent basis. That said, Western Michigan had the scoring by committee when their difference maker was held in check in the post season. When you can get consistent scoring from different lines that can make it pretty tough for teams to focus on shutting down one player. One thing I like about this group of recruits is it seems from the talk about them is you are going to get consistent effort, which is something we have been lacking.
  22. Agree that McKenna has the tools to be a very special player, but I think the phrase generational talent gets used quite a bit these days. We have heard the same about McDavid, Bedard, and I think even Lafreniere was said to be a generational talent. If any of these are once in a generation players, so far it looks to be McDavid.
  23. By decent, I mean top 3 round type talent. Really will suck if we aren't able to give Zellers another high end talent to make the most of his skills. Maybe Swanson can take a step and feed him. The Bruins really need him to develop, so if they don't see him getting the kind of support he needs to succeed, they may push him in a different direction. We really need him to be an impact player next year, which isn't ideal being that the transition is different for a lot of players.
  24. Give him another year to see if something clicks for him. Seems like we weren't patient with a guy like Stephen Halliday, and he had a pretty good college career.
  25. Quite the departure from you saying that we were going to get Carter Bear. Was he that tied to Berry?
