  1. https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2021/jun/02/luck-of-the-draw-spokane-chiefs-land-first-pick-in/ He is expected to be the top pick in the WHL Bantam Draft, so maybe he went home because he plans to go that route.
  2. This, after being told by the Grand Forks Herald that a generic logo was the likely outcome from other schools that had gone through the process. And they still went down the same path. Kind of funny that the group that probably has the least tie to the old nickname, the current students, are the most vocal against the mention of the new one. Just keep referencing Nodak and let it take over by default much like Zags did for Gonzaga. You don't see their fans getting bent out of shape if someone references them as Zags rather than Bulldogs, why is it a problem if some just reference UND as North Dakota, or Nodak rather than hawks? It amuses me when people in the "it's just a nickname" crowd get so up in arms when someone doesn't refer to the current nickname, or make it the focal point of attire.
  3. Other than Strinden, that is a pretty young group. Correct me if I'm wrong, but just because they signed doesn't necessarily mean they are coming in next year. I could see them dipping into the transfer portal to get one experienced forward then choose which of those are ready for the next level. Would love for the young guys to play as much junior hockey as possible as we have seen guys like Adams struggle in their first few years even after being top players in the USHL. Would guess Blake will be the no brainer for next year. I also could see needing another forward, as I would think that Pittsburgh would love to get Caulfield in their system. Hoping that being a local boy, that Caulfield realizes he can stay here and develop just as much as he could in the AHL. Big boys with great hands are always in short supply in the NHL.
  4. We know that all of the Minnesotans and North Dakotans on Minnesota and UND know the importance of this series, let's hope the UND coaches and leadership can show some clips to express to the rest of the guys what this series means to the season, pairwise importance notwithstanding.
  5. Exactly. It is hard to judge who needs this series more. If we would lose three to Big Ten teams it could really damage our pairwise. Minnesota sure could use wins against the NCHC as well. Bottom line for UND is to learn from their losses to Penn State and Duluth, and stay out of the box. I believe Minnesota mustered the split with Penn State by converting on a 5 on 3. UND has to treat this series as critical to their NCAA tourney hopes. I don't want to be talking after Friday night that UND needs to learn another lesson as to staying out of the box.
  6. Maybe she's talking about the Duluth fans and the smallpox blanket remarks.
  7. Give us a split there this year and I’ll take it in a heartbeat.
  8. ...and to think someone on GPL said they couldn’t believe all the empty seats in Nashville. So we had probably 4 times or more fans at a venue 1200 miles away than they have in their back yard! Reminds me of their fans complaining that they last played us at home on Thanksgiving when students were gone, allowing us to take up a good share of the arena. Not worried about that happening here this weekend.
  9. ...and I think we can all agree that you have done the best with what you were given to work with. I believe there was one moment you came close to stringing together a complete sentence, albeit with numerous spelling errors.
  10. Ben Clymer is officially the biggest homer announcer ever. Normal jousting among players deserves a penalty if it happens to a gopher player, but is being tough if the gophers do it.
  11. So you know exactly what Bubba would have done. Great. Facts show you as a blowhard.
  12. We’ll never know but your assertions aren’t holding any water.
  13. https://fightinghawks.com/sports/football/stats Brady Stevens 4 for 4 39 yards in.
  14. You tell me the stats then big mouth.
  15. It doesn’t change the fact that you can’t take that sack. Guess I would rather have a 50% chance at a field goal then no chance at all.
  16. Not saying be ultra conservative, but know that you can’t eliminate that as a last chance thing. Also, do you not think that the interception was a direct result of being behind the chains as a result of the sack.
  17. How are you taking that sack when you are already in field goal range. Doesn’t get sacked or throw interceptions except in the worst possible times.
  18. That’s all we really want, is to stay in games.
  19. Those extra few yards on where they spotted the ball after Turner’s sack sure made a difference. Should have been closer to the 25, but that play is all on the defense.
  20. With that thinking we would never have had 5 overtime’s in Fargo last year. Every hockey coach would take issue with that statement unless you are going back to the two game total goal series of years gone by.
  21. ...and Peregrines would have met the unique criteria, as well as reference to the area as well.
  22. You wonder if UND just instituted a name like Force of the North or Green and White kind of like Central did with Maroon, if the appetite would have come about to have another nickname naturally at some point. Of course the argument would be it would then be Sioux by default anyway. One thing is certain, if the committee did their job and stuck to their own criteria, Hawks wouldn’t have been in the mix, and Nodak would have been a viable option. I wouldn’t be opposed to Nodak taking root and reference would be to that much like you hear Zags for Gonzaga rather than referencing their actual Bulldogs nickname.
  23. No surprise Will Smith stays out East with Boston College.
  24. I would think that as long as people are still supporting the University, who cares who puts what front and center. To me this is the best of both worlds. The other programs can use the logo as they see fit, and the hockey program can still keep people buying merchandise, yet use the name and logo as they see fit, much as the other programs did in the past.
