  1. But it sounds like offsides is still reviewable.
  2. I find it ironic that the NCAA and all of the member institutions that are supposedly so in tune with mental health and the wellness of the student athlete, have no problem making it that much more difficult for the student athlete with more travel and therefore more strain on a person's sleep and health, all in the name of the almighty buck. Of course hypocrisy and the NCAA go hand in hand. Where will this all end?
  3. Since we already have two commits that are forwards from the group that just became eligible to recruit, I'm hoping this doesn't mean we aren't in on some of the other big names like Mooney, Potter, or Morin.
  4. I see Caleb Heil is also from Victoria, Minnesota. Wonder if they are friends.
  5. Yes I believe that was Nate Prosser he destroyed.
  6. I found it funny that a gopher fan would say that Cooley would be playing in front of way more fans at Minnesota than with the Coyotes. I guess it may be true now, because we know how they have fair weather fans. A few years ago, not so much. It was almost comical how sparse the crowds were just a short while ago.
  7. Yet we still split with them last year. With Cooley probably gone, I really think our forward group is as good if not better, and it will all depend on how our back end comes together. Minnesota lost a lot of super talent up front and on defense, so they have some spots to fill as well.
  8. We could use another legendary Mooney at UND!
  9. I'm wondering about how many defensemen they are willing to commit to in the next year or so, as you always could use a bit of room for a late bloomer or elite talent. Will any of these guys be o.k. with getting pushed off a year or so? If they are super high end, I wouldn't think that would be the case, so maybe seeing how some develop wouldn't hurt. Maybe in the case of a legacy like Murphy, you could have some wiggle room because he would need to develop physically anyway. Would think ultimately many of these guys could commit, just don't know how fast that would happen with a few of them.
  10. https://www.quanthockey.com/wjc-u20/en/teams/team-canada-players-2005-wjc-u20-stats.html We truly were witnessing an historic World Juniors in Grand Forks with Bergeron among the many superstars. Just look at Canada’s roster alone on top of Ovy and Malkin, among many others.
  11. The NCAA will have to institute a new rule saying you can't hurdle an oncoming defender!! Would be kind of scary with skate blades that high in the air.
  12. Would hope we all would judge people on the content of their character and nothing else. Oh, and they need to be a good hockey player too!
  13. https://www.therinklive.com/mens-division-1/nchc/twenty-names-to-watch-when-college-hockeys-recruiting-season-opens Got 4 recruits from this list last year. Let's do the same with this year's list.
  14. How crazy good does that defensive group look in the next several years with Wiebe, Livanavage, Zmolek, Emery, Strathmann and McInnis, and cross your fingers on Hensler.
  15. Was Hensler going to accelerate? If so, is he still a possibility with Strathmann, Jubenvil, and Emery set to come in? What about McInnis, is he eligible for 2024 as well? With his injury, maybe he does what Strathmann did and get another year under his belt.
  16. I really wonder what went on with him, going from the all rookie team in the AJHL to not even making it to the regular season with Green Bay. I wonder if he didn’t learn to play both ends of the ice and didn’t see the ice much because of it. He went back to the AJHL and was putting up a point a game again. Hopefully he can figure it out and put it back together. Tucker Poolman was cut by juniors, but he was a late bloomer, but hopefully UND is rewarded for not giving up on a guy who has some deficiencies that need to be addressed if he has any hopes of showing up on campus.
  17. Sadly, and ironically, I was talking to a fellow employee just days ago about how bad Fargo has gotten in their pursuit to be more like Minneapolis. Hopefully a lot of the bad policies don’t follow suit and make things worse.
  18. Both he and Kane averaged about .28 goals per game last year, but truly it is hard to know because of how bad Chicago was last year. I wouldn’t expect huge numbers, but if a team is looking for someone to demonstrate how to be the consummate professional, then he would have a lot to offer in the way of being a mentor.
  19. Not a great recruiting tool, "Come to North Dakota because there is nothing to do but focus on hockey", but maybe we should take what we can get. Guess it is better than "Come to Minnesota and have a great chance to become a victim of violent crime!"
  20. Anyone have a subscription to this care to share some of where the big recruits are possibly heading?

    ASU to NCHC

After all that Minnesota State has been through, let's throw them a bone and invite them.

    ASU to NCHC

This only makes it more critical that UND sweeps teams outside of their pod, as I believe Denver and Western could beat up on their pods, making it hard for UND to win as many conference championships, although Omaha has been tough at times too. Two teams in our pod have won most of the NCHC conference championships, and the other has done really well on the national level.
  23. Was thinking the same thing. How does a guy who has the background he does, have any snark at all, much less a social media presence. Of course he never did have any self awareness.
  24. It will be interesting to see how it goes with the really high end guys going forward, and I'm talking top 5 or 10. I would be surprised if Fantilli stays another year, and some of the guys that stayed two were a result of Covid. Guessing Cooley might be a result of Arizona's issues. Regardless of those circumstances, I think that Makar has kind of opened people's eyes as to what another year of development can do to make you ready to not only enter the NHL but make an immediate impact. Will be interesting to see how many follow that same path going forward.
