…and without our shutdown defenseman.
-
So when we still had a 3 point lead, did it look like Smith tip toed the sideline and should have been closer to a first down, if not a first down? Only saw the one look, but was wondering if we should have challenged that, if not for the spot alone.
-
So let me get this straight, Bubba won’t let another quarterback play, except if it is a very short yardage play, or if the game is on the line?
-
Wow, go figure a young team like BU having growing pains. If we gave up as many breakaways and odd man rushes that they did tonight this board would need to be shut down.

Don’t quit your day job, you may need it for a roof over your head.

2024-25 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

If he's allergic to apples, then he better just score goals! -
Well then, I hope they can get fired up about seeing the griddy after a road game sometime soon.
-
Boy, Bubba sure does look different! Hopefully his jump forward this year is where his trajectory is headed, as 9 touchdowns and 11 interceptions the previous year are not in Bubba's game manager mode.
-
The griddy wears everyone down over time as well.

In no order, Forwards Taylor, Smail, Troy Murray, Hrkac, Panzer, Joyce, Greg Johnson, Ward, Sykes, Toews, Oshie, Parise, with the extra skater being a forward in Kevin Maxwell, since he was a one and done who put up the 3rd most points ever by a freshman. Defense Defense would be Patrick, Ludwig, Roche, Himmelright, Murphy and Parent. Contemplated both Ian Kidd and Jason Herter, but went with guys that were here longer. Goalies Goalies would be Jon Casey, Darren Jensen and Eddie Belfour. Goehring just out of the mix for me.

"If every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right" I always have tuna on toast. Nothing's ever worked out for me with tuna on toast. I want the complete opposite of on toast. Chicken salad, on rye, untoasted ... and a cup of tea.

You're not putting him ahead of Joby Bond, are you?

Hakstol's teams were generally not that great before Christmas, but built from there, but just couldn't finish it off. I remember when people mocked the gophers for being a great October, November team, and now our season is over because they didn't produce offensively on the weekend? I think this team has more room for growth than last year's, simply because they have more really young freshmen that hopefully can make a big impact the second half of the year -- Boisvert, Swanson, and Emery.
-
No, when they allowed the extra paid coach, the volunteer was no longer possible, hence Jason Ulmer not getting to remain to help with faceoffs.

It’s so comical to read the exact same posts after every loss. Yes it isn’t ideal, but I thought we wanted to be a team like Denver that doesn’t start out perfectly but manages to come together better at the end of the year, instead of peaking early.
-
Really, I expected it to be tough to play against a team like Minnesota State, especially in Mankato. This is good experience to play against teams like this. I do find it funny that people who consistently railed about certain guys needing to be higher up in the lineup, aren’t seeing the results from them having a bigger role. There have always been games like this against tough teams to play against, so not reading too much into it this early.
-
That’s the thing though, they don’t hold themselves to the same standard in daily life that they hold a college student playing a game!
-
If we can play decent before Christmas, I think guys like him and Swanson will be impact guys the second half even outside the special teams. Our young defense is going to make steps as well.
-
Yes, as Hennessy always says “the other team is trying too”. I’m sure some of these guys are 6 years older than guys like Boisvert and Swanson. Of course we’ve got some older guys too, and ultimately those are the guys who got it done in this game.
-
Nice that the older guys are getting it done on the offensive end while the young guys get their feet wet playing against a tough veteran team like Minnesota State.
-
Where’s gfhockey to take his foot out of his mouth?

Take a look back at the Fire Hak threads after a Frozen Four loss.

Haven't seen enough of Wilkie, but the scoring end concerns me more than being able to mix it up. None of those guys have been huge scorers for us in the past, and we will need to count on them to come through in games like this. Of course on the other hand, since we have those guys you mentioned, we shouldn't need to score a bunch either. If we can get to 3 goals against them I like our chances.
-
I am seeing a split this weekend. Another tough team to play against, especially on the road. I think hard nosed teams are going to be the problem area for us. Hopefully I'm wrong and we can get a sweep, as it doesn't get easier after this weekend.

Control what you can control, and we haven't done that. We just need to take care of business, and we didn't do it last year after we beat them, and we certainly didn't show up to give them pause this year.
