So we are copying the Montana game, where we don’t use Romfo’s running, which is why he is in the lineup. How about learning from our past mistakes.
-
Don’t run on 3rd and 6 and settle for a field goal that is far from a guarantee. Must show the confidence they have in our passing attack.
-
This team was 31% on 3rd down conversions, and now they can’t be stopped? Don’t revert to last years problem.
-
Do they have extra sticks, or are they going to retrieve them from the stands!
-
I'm hoping, but when he was described as a game manager it made me wonder if that was the extent of what they wanted from him. Obviously we are all hopeful of him developing into something more of an impact player as he becomes more comfortable.
-
Time will tell what Romfo becomes, but hearing from Belquist, they are just happy he is a game manager. At some point if this program wants to compete consistently for championships, they need to find impact players at the QB position, not just managers of the game that won't turn the ball over.
-
Yeah, don’t understand if he is so old school that he thinks it could possibly create a QB controversy and that Romfo is his guy. The thing is that you are going to need the backup to perform at some juncture in the game today, especially when you have a running QB, and with the size and speed of players the QB is going to get dinged up at some point, even if only for a few series.
-
Let’s see, you can’t recover a muffed punt, you miss an interception, you give up an onside kick — can you possibly find a way to give away the game.
-
Agree, it is an accomplishment, but in the same token, so are league championships in the hardest conference, and getting some hardware, but in the end most of us want more than that. That definitely needs to be a goal of ours every year, but we saw how that played out in the eyes of some for Hakstol.
-
Could also change the "Day by Day" mantra and just utilize it as a philosophy they use to progress inhouse. "Row the Boat" got old with Minnesota pretty quick, as it was overused. I get that you want a common goal, but it doesn't hurt to freshen that once in a while.
-
He certainly did, which makes you wonder why the one thing that everybody agrees he does best was conspicuously absent in the first half. To me, they can’t try to protect him from getting hurt by limiting his runs, when that is a big part of the reason he is the starter.
-
Gotta say that I moved away from a philosophy of letting a game play out before reacting, but never would have believed this was a winnable game at halftime, but just goes to show you that momentum can become a huge wave that shifts confidence and makes things like today possible. I’m not sold on being one dimensional and it translating through the whole season, but if you can dominate the line of scrimmage like we did in the second half, it could open up other things when they have to load the box to stop you. After all, that is how the Bison have dominated for years. Keep up the confidence on the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
-
The problem has never been getting big wins, it has always been capitalizing on them and keeping the fanbase engaged.
-
Wow, never would think that a comeback would be possible without a passing attack.
-
Can’t believe Montana isn’t just stacking the line of scrimmage.
-
Montana player catching that ball prevented another kickoff penalty.
-
We know Bubba does just enough to keep his job.
-
We get more yards on PI calls than actual receptions.
-
It’s too late now to get on the golf course while the weather is nice. Should have known and just went golfing rather than watch this debacle.
-
When was the actual last time we had a downfield passing game?
-
But Bubba knows what it’s like to be a small town North Dakota kid and maybe not be good enough to make a difference, so he will give him an unlimited leash.
-
Montana goes two quarterbacks even though they are winning, and we will stick with a qb even if we are getting drilled.
-
But in Bubba’s eyes, we only need a QB that doesn’t turn the ball over and is a game manager, because we pin our hopes on our defense. How has that worked out Bubba?
-
So it is possible to keep a kick inbounds!
-
Fundamentals. Our coach doesn’t have them, and players don’t appear to have them mastered either. Wrap up!
